Maintaining your hardware and resolving basic problems Should the ball on the mouse not roll smoothly, open the ball enclosure, remove the ball and wipe it thoroughly using a clean, lint-free cloth. With a cotton swab slightly moistened with industrial alcohol, clean the three roller contacts located inside the enclosure. When finished, return the ball to the enclosure and replace the cover.
