INTRODUCTION DVD-ROM is read-only memory using a CD-ROM disc system and an audio compact disc system as a media package which handles digital data. To enjoy audio CD, please insert the Headphone plug into the Headphone jack. This drive unit uses DVD-ROM discs which bear the following mark. 1.1 PRECAUTIONS WHEN TRANSPORTING To avoid damage * Keep the original packing materials for the drive unit. * Before you transport the drive unit, remove the disc from the drive unit and repack the drive unit in its original packing. 1.2 INSTALLATION LOCATION Do not place unit in the following environments. * High-temperature, high-humidity, extreme temperature changes. * Dusty * Excessive vibration/ sudden shock. * Inclined place. * Direct sunlight. 1.

APPENDIX A. Easy Installation of the Device Driver for Windows 95 (This Device Driver is required when reading a DVD-RAM disc under Windows 95.) The SR-8585-E DVD-ROM drive must be installed into your host computer, before installing this device driver. 1. Turn the power of your personal computer on and start up Windows 95 . 2. Insert the floppy disk “Device Driver for DVD-ROM drive” into your floppy disk drive. 3. Open Run… window from the Start menu as shown below. 4. Type “A:\SETUP.EXE” and press OK.
ENGLISH 6. Select “Install ATAPI-DVD device driver” and press Next on Select Components window. 7. Press Finish on Restart Windows as it is. Your personal computer will automatically restart and install this SR-8585-E device driver. NOTE: This SR-8585-E DVD-ROM drive does not support the FAT formatted DVD-RAM discs.
APPENDIX B. Easy Installation of the Device Driver for DOS / Windows 3.1 The SR-8585-E DVD-ROM drive must be installed into your host computer, before installing this device driver. 1. Turn the power of your personal computer on. If your system automatically loads Windows, you must exit Windows and reach the DOS prompt C:\ . This explanation assumes that your floppy drive is designed "A" and your hard disk drive "C".
