CONTROL LOCATIONS Keypad Layout 3 The very first step is to insert the four AAA batteries that are included in the package into the battery compartment located in the back of the remote. Just press the tab and lift off the cover. Please be sure to insert the batteries correctly as you see in the diagram. Remember, there is a positive and negative end to each battery and you can tell by the + (positive) and – (negative) symbols. Once the batteries are correctly installed, replace the cover.
Activating Component Commands GETTING STARTED LIGHT BUTTON SHIFT BUTTON TV COMPONENT Once you’ve programmed RF10 for your Components, all you have to do to operate a specific Component is press the desired COMPONENT button. For example, press the TV COMPONENT Button. The top of the screen changes to TV. Now all of the buttons on the RF10 will work your TV. To operate another Component, simply press one of the other eight COMPONENT buttons.
7 Pre-Programmed Code Method BASIC SETUP Once you have located the 3-digit code (or in some cases, several code numbers) for the Component that you want to operate with your RF10, write them ALL down on a piece of note paper. It’s important that you write down all the codes because only one code is going to work for you. Now, turn on the Component you want to program… let’s say your TV to start. Look up your TV’s manufacturer setup code from your reference list.
9 Pre-Programmed Code Method BASIC SETUP PLAY BUTTON STOP BUTTON VOLUME BUTTON ON BUTTON CODE DISPLAY Point the RF10 toward the Component you want to program, (in this example, TV), and punch in the 3-digit code that you wrote down for that specific Component. Use the Number buttons 0-9 on the remote to punch in the code. If the 3-digit code number that you just punched in is correct, the Component will turn off.
11 Pre-Programmed Auto-Search Method BASIC SETUP ON BUTTON UP ARROW BUTTON SELECT BUTTON TV COMPONENT IMPORTANT:You now have 30 seconds to perform the next step while you are in SETUP mode. If you don't press a button within 30 seconds, SET will disappear from the screen, signaling that you have exited setup mode and you will need to start over. Press and hold both the COMPONENT (in this case TV) and SELECT buttons for approximately three seconds.
13 Learning Method BASIC SETUP ENTER BUTTON COMPONENT BUTTON IMPORTANT:You now have 30 seconds to perform the next step while you are in SETUP mode. If you don’t press a button within 30 seconds, SETUP will disappear from the screen, signaling that you have exited LEARN mode and you will need to start over. Press and hold both the desired Component button (in this case TV) and the ENT (Enter) button for approximately 3 seconds.
15 Learning Method BASIC SETUP • Gradually vary the distance between the remote controls. Try 1”, 2” and so on, up to 4 feet. • • Even though the old remote seems to be working fine, put in fresh alkaline batteries. To return to an original pre-programmed function, a learned function must be erased. • Learned functions are retained even after a different Setup Code Number is programmed into the remote. • Learned functions are automatically erased when a new function is learned on the same button.
17 Customizing Y our RF10 with Special Advanced Features ADVANCED SETUP The current COMPONENT name will then appear on the screen, with the first space/character blinking on and off. Change the character by using any of the NUMBER buttons.
19 MacroPowerTM Setup ADVANCED SETUP You can also program delays in between commands by pressing the (II) PAUSE button. Each press adds half a second to the delay. NOTE: Don’t worry about the number of steps. Each macro button can store up to 50 steps, so you are not likely to run out of steps! (NOTE: Whenever a button is pressed, another Macro step is counted and displayed on the screen.
21 SimpleSoundTM Setup & Other ‘Punch Throughs’ ADVANCED SETUP IMPORTANT: You now have 30 seconds to perform the next step while you are in Setup mode. If you don’t press a button within 30 seconds, “SET” will disappear from the screen, signaling that you have exited Setup mode and you will need to start over.

Press and hold both the COMPONENT you want to identify and the SEL (Select) buttons at the same time for approximately 3 seconds, until the word “SET” is displayed on the LCD screen. This signals that you are now in setup mode. IMPORTANT:You now have 30 seconds to perform the next step while you are in SETUP mode.
27 Erasing Commands - Overview ERASING COMMANDS COMPONENT COMPONENT BUTTONS BUTTON ENT ENT BUTTON BUTTONS To save, press and hold the COMPONENT button and the ENT button until the word “SAVED” flashes twice on the LCD screen. The RF10 will then automatically return to normal operating mode. STEP 3: Repeat this step to erase any other buttons in the same mode. Press and hold the button you want to erase for 2 seconds. The display will flash ERASE twice, then display LEARN.
29 Erasing Commands ERASING COMMANDS Press and hold both the COMPONENT button you want to erase and the PAUSE button until the display flashes ERASE eight times, followed by SAVED. Release the buttons and the RF10 will then automatically return to normal operating mode. 31 Erasing Commands ERASING COMMANDS STOP BUTTON POWER ON BUTTON Release the buttons and the display will flash SAVED twice and the RF10 will automatically return to normal operating mode MACRO BUTTONS Press the CHANNEL ( ) UP button to save. The display will flash CLEAR and then SAVED two times. STEP 2: IMPORTANT: You now have 30 seconds to perform the next step while you are in MACRO mode.
ERASING COMMANDS Re-setting RF10 to Original Factory Default Settings 33 STOP BUTTON POWER OFF BUTTON The RF10 will then display a self-testing routine for a few seconds, then automatically return to normal operating mode. Press and hold both the POWER OFF button and the STOP button for 10 seconds. Continue to hold both buttons as the display flashes ERASE ten times, then RESET. STEP 1: NOTE: This process will essentially erase EVERYTHING you have programmed into the RF10.
35 The Optional PowerBlasterTM POWERBLASTERTM The RF10 sends radio signal to the PowerBlaster™, which is a radio receiver. NOTE:The RF10's radio signals will not control Components directly.You must have a PowerBlaster™ to receive the RF10's radio signals. Components that came with "no pointing" radio remote controls cannot be operated by the RF10 unless the Component can be switched to standard IR (Infrared Control) via its internal menus.
