INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FOR TEAK SHOWER SEATS
IMPORTANT: PROPER BACKING MATERIAL AND MOUNTING HARDWARE MUST BE USED TO
MOUNT THIS SHOWER SEAT FOR SAFE USE AND AS REQUIRD BY A.D.A. GUIDELINES.
Your Shower Seat should be installed as an assembled unit and comes with an “easy-mount” template to
make installation quick, easy and efficient.
1. Determine the width of the seat. The template provided is for a standard 22” wide seat. If your
seat width is different, do not install. Please contact MTI for correct mounting template.
2. The seat has teak slats: trim or fold top of template along the appropriate Finished Seat Height
line.
3. ADA regulations specify a finished seat height of 17” to 19” above the finished floor and a 1-1/2”
clearance between the seat edge and the side wall.
4. Tape mounting template on wall making sure that the appropriate Finished Seat Height line is at
your desired height and is straight and level.
5. Make sure that the appropriate Seat Width edge line is at the desired distance from the side wall
and is straight and plumb.
6. Using the appropriate size drill bit for your fastener hardware, drill three mounting holes for each
of the right and left hinge bracket flanges and three mounting holes for the siding leg bracket at
the positions designated on the template.
7. Remove the template from the wall.
8. Holding the seat assembly in an upright and raised position against the wall, tightly secure the
two hinge bracket flanges to the wall AND INTO PROPER BACKING MATERIAL, using
mounting hardware suitable for your specific mounting application.
9. Slip the lower horizontal portion of the leg tubing into the sliding leg bracket and tightly secure
bracket to the wall AND INTO PROPER BACKING MATERIAL using mounting hardware
suitable for your specific mounting application.
10. Check seat for: 1) proper up and down operation.
2) correct finished height.
3) correct distance form side wall.
4) weight bearing.
THIS COMPLETES INSTALLATION OF THE SHOWER SEAT.
