Correct usage ~ The dishwasher is not designed for commercial use.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Installation ~ The dishwasher must be installed and connected in accordance with the installation instructions. ~ Installation and repair work should be performed by a Miele authorized service technician. Work by unqualified persons could be dangerous and may void the warranty. ~ Do not install or use a damaged dishwasher. A damaged appliance is dangerous. Unplug the machine and contact the Miele Technical Service Department. ~ Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags, etc.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Use ~ To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in, on or near the dishwasher. It is possible for small fingers may be pinched in the door. ~ When loading tableware, place sharp items away from the door to prevent damage to the seal. Load sharp items pointing downwards to prevent injuries. Caring for the environment Energy saving washing This dishwasher is exceptionally economical in the use of water and electricity. For best results follow these tips: ^ For lowest energy consumption you may connect the dishwasher to a cold water source. ^ For fastest possible wash times, with slightly higher energy consumption, connect the dishwasher to a hot water source. ^ Make full use of the baskets without overloading for the most economical washing. ^ Use the correct amount of detergent and rinse aid.

The door will then close automatically. ,Keep fingers and other body parts away from the door as it is closing. Danger of injury. The door will open automatically at the end of the program to aid in the drying process. This function can be deactivated (see "Settings - Drying Plus"). ^ Pull the handle to open the door.

The selected language is marked with a L check. Clock format The display changes automatically to the clock format.

Set the minutes and press OK. Water hardness The display then changes to the water hardness setting. } 15°d B } 16°d Water hardness e OK } To achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs soft water. Hard water results in calcium deposits on dishware and in the dishwasher.
Before using for the first time The water hardness was programmed at 1 °d (1 gr/gal) by factory default. ^ Select the hardness of your water supply and confirm with the center button. See "Settings - Water hardness" for more information. Two notes appear in the display. After confirming these notes, : Add and/or : Add salt may appear in the display. Confirm these notes with OK. The display changes to the main menu. rinse aid These basic settings are saved after the first full program cycle is completed.
Before using for the first time Every dishwasher is tested before leaving the factory. Any water remaining in the machine is from the final factory test and does not indicate that the machine has been used. Filling the salt container To achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs soft water (water that is low in minerals). Hard water results in calcium deposits on dishware and in the dishwasher. Therefore, if your tap water hardness is above 4 °d (4 gr/gal) the water should be softened.
Before using for the first time Salt refill message ^ When the display shows Insufficient salt, refill the salt after the program has finished. ^ Confirm with OK. The message will clear from the display. ^ Place the provided funnel over the salt container and carefully fill it with salt. The salt container holds approx. 4.4 lbs (2 kg) of salt, depending on the type of salt. ^ Clean any excess salt from the threads of the container opening. Screw the lid on firmly.
Before using for the first time Rinse aid Rinse aid helps to prevent spotting on dishes and glassware. The rinse aid is filled in the reservoir and the set amount will be automatically dosed. ,Filling the rinse aid reservoir with detergent (liquid or powder) will damage the reservoir. Only pour rinse aid formulated for residential dishwashers into the reservoir. When using "Tab" detergents rinse aid is not needed. Adding rinse aid ^ Press on the flap until you hear it click shut.
Before using for the first time Rinse aid indicator When the ( Refill rinse aid message appears, the reservoir contains sufficient rinse aid for 2 - 3 programs only. ^ Add rinse aid once the program has finished. ^ Confirm with the OK button. The "Refill rinse aid" message will go out. If using "Tab" detergent products in your dishwasher, the messages can be turned off if desired (see "Settings - Deactivate indicators").
Loading the dishwasher ,Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, grease or paint in the dishwasher. Ash and sand do not dissolve and will be distributed throughout the inside of the dishwasher. Wax, grease and paint will cause permanent discoloration and damage to the dishwasher. ^ Scrape food from dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, rinsing is not necessary. ^ Some foods contain natural dyes, e.g. carrots or tomatoes.

Loading the dishwasher Upper basket ,Always use the dishwasher with the upper and lower basket inserted (except during the Tall items program, if available). ^ Load the upper basket with small, lightweight, or delicate items such as cups, saucers, glasses, dessert bowls, etc. Shallow pans can also be placed in the upper basket. ^ Long items such as soup ladles, mixing spoons and long knives should be placed lying down across the front of the upper basket.
Loading the dishwasher Jumbo cup rack (depending on model): The cup rack can be set at two different widths so that it can also accommodate large cups. Universal support bar The support bar will hold tall glasses and stem ware securely. ^ Fold the bar down and lean the desired glasses against it. ^ Pull the cup rack upwards and click it back into position at the required width. ^ If desired, a section of the cutlery tray can be removed to allow for even taller glasses.
Loading the dishwasher Adjusting the height: You can set the support bar at two different heights. ^ Pull the support bar upwards and click it back into position at the required height. Use the low setting for small glasses and tumblers. Use the high setting for tall glasses and stem ware.
Loading the dishwasher Adjusting the upper basket To adjust the upper basket downwards: In order to gain more space for taller items the upper basket can be adjusted on three levels with 2 cm between each level. ^ Pull up on the levers at the sides of the upper basket. The upper basket can also be set at an angle with one side high and the other side low. Make sure, however, that the basket can slide smoothly in and out of the cabinet. ^ Slide out the upper basket.
Loading the dishwasher Lower basket ^ For larger and heavier items such as plates, serving platters, saucepans, bowls, etc. Glasses, cups, small plates and saucers can also be arranged in the lower basket. Dishwasher with cutlery tray ^ Place large platters and dishes in the center of the lower basket. When tilted, plates up to 13 3/4" (35 cm) in diameter can be accommodated.
Loading the dishwasher Removable MultiComfort insert Glass rack The rear section of the lower basket is used for cups, glasses, plates, pots and pans. ^ The glass rack can be raised to make more room for tall items. You can remove the MultiComfort insert to provide more space for larger items such as pots and pans. ^ Stem glassware, e. g. wine glasses, champagne flutes or beer glasses, can be leaned against the glass rack or suspended from it. The height of the glass rack is adjustable.
Loading the dishwasher Universal support bar Foldable spikes The support bar will hold tall glasses and stem-ware securely. The rows of spikes can be lowered to make more room for larger items, such as casserole dishes. ^ Fold the bar down and lean the desired glasses against it. ^ If desired, a section of the cutlery tray can be removed to allow for even taller glasses. ^ Press the yellow lever down a and fold down the spikes b.
Loading the dishwasher Cutlery Split cutlery tray (depending on model) Spoons with thick handles may have to be placed as knives and forks with their heads in the holders. ^ Arrange the cutlery as shown in the cutlery tray. For easier unloading cutlery should be grouped in zones, one for knives, one for forks, one for spoons, etc. Spoon heads should be placed in contact with at least one of the serrated retainers on the base of the cutlery tray to ensure that water runs off them freely.
Loading the dishwasher Cutlery basket Cutlery insert for the cutlery basket (depending on model) Use the insert supplied for heavily soiled items of cutlery. The insert separates the items so that they can be reached better by the spray jets. The cutlery basket can be placed anywhere on the front rows of spikes in the lower basket. ^ To avoid risk of injury, knives and forks should be placed with the handles upwards in the basket.
Optional accessories Optional dishwasher accessories are available from your Miele dealer, Miele or Mieleusa.com (depending on your model some may already be supplied with your machine as standard). Use Detergent ,Dishwasher detergents contain irritant and corrosive ingredients. Avoid inhaling or swallowing dishwasher detergent. Keep children away from detergent. Keep detergent out of the reach of children. Keep children away from the dishwasher when the door is open. There could still be detergent residues in the dishwasher. Only add detergent just before starting the program and lock the door with the child safety lock (depending on model). ,Only use detergents formulated for domestic dishwashers.
Use Adding detergent ^ Press the latch on the detergent dispenser. The flap will spring open. The flap is always open at the end of a program. ^ Add detergent to the compartments and close the container flap. ^ Use one tab or add powder or gel detergent to compartment II and close the flap. ^ If a Pre-rinse is desired, and available for your chosen program, add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of detergent to compartment I. Compartment I holds a maximum of 2 teaspoons (10 ml), compartment II holds a maximum of 3.
Use Turning on ^ Open the water supply, if closed. ^ Open the door. ^ Make sure the spray arms can rotate freely. ^ Turn the dishwasher on K. The main menu shows in the display. If the memory function is selected, the last selected program is displayed. Use Selecting options Intensive lower basket: Options can be added to the selected program. – For washing heavily soiled dishes in the lower basket at the same time as delicate items in the upper basket. This function will increase the cleaning power in the lower basket in programs which it is selected. Depending on the program, the run time may be extended slightly. Once this function is set for a program it will remain active for that program until the setting is changed. ^ Select the Options menu.
Use Starting a program Time display ^ Select Start. Before the program starts, the time display shows the running time of the selected program in hours and minutes. During the running program the remaining time is shown in the time display. The display shows Close the door. To select another program or to add options, select Back and cancel the program with Cancel. ^ Start the program by closing the door. The optical interface lights to indicate that a program is running.
Use Standby At the end of a program A few minutes after the last key is pressed or at the end of the program the dishwasher switch into Standby mode to save energy. At the end of a program the optical control light flashes slowly with the door closed. ^ To turn the dishwasher back on press K. This feature can also be turned off (see "Settings - Optimize standby"). The dishwasher will then turn off after 6 hours.
Use Preparing your appliance for an extended vacation If you elect to turn off the water to your home for an extended period of time, please note that this may not be enough to reduce the risk of a leak. To be completely safe, you must turn off the water supply to each individual appliance. This means under the sink for a dishwasher, at the laundry bib for your washer, etc. 42 Interrupting a program A program is interrupted as soon as the door is opened.
Use Changing a program If the detergent flap is already open, do not change the program. If a program has already started and you wish to change it: ^ Open the door. Additional options Delay start The starting time of a program can be delayed between 15 minutes and 24 hours. The start can be delayed in 15-minute-increments. When using the "Delay Start" function make sure that the detergent compartment is dry before adding detergent, use a cloth if necessary. The detergent might stick together and not get completely rinsed out. Do not use liquid detergent when selecting "Delay Start", the detergent could leak out of the compartment.
Additional options The display changes to the program menu. ^ Select Start. ^ Close the door. The program starts automatically at the selected time. The indicator , goes out. A few minutes after the last key press, the dishwasher will switch into standby mode to save energy. The display and the indicators will turn off. Starting a program before the delay start has elapsed: A program can be started before the delay start time has elapsed. ^ Open the door. ^ Select Cancel and confirm with OK.
Additional options BrilliantLight The dishwasher is equipped with an interior light. With the door open the light turns off automatically after 15 minutes The light can also be turned off. ^ Open and close the door quickly 3 times. The door must be opened enough so that the interior lighting turns on then off. From now on the interior lighting is turned off. ^ To turn the light on again, repeat the above process.

Settings ! Language J Time of day The display contents can be shown in different languages. This selection allows the clock to be shown as 24 or 12 hours. The clock can also be set from here. The displayed language can be changed by the submenu "Language J". ^ Select the desired language and confirm with OK. The flag behind the word Language J serves as a guide when an unfamiliar language is selected. Select the respective menu with a flag until the submenu Language J appears.
Settings ! Water hardness Your dishwasher is fitted with a water softener which you need to program to the water hardness level in your area, see "Before the first use". ^ Turn the dishwasher on K. If the memory function is on, the program menu instead of the last selected program will be displayed (see "Settings - Memory"). If this is the case use the U button in the main menu. ^ Select Water hardness from the "Settings !" menu. The set water hardness is marked with a check (.
Settings ! Rinse aid Adjust Sensor Wash For best results the rinse aid dosage can be adjusted. The dosage can be set between 0 and 6 ml. The "Sensor Wash" program can be adjusted to clean stubborn but normal soiling. The dosage set by default to 3 ml of rinse aid per program. – Use a higher setting if spots appear on dry glassware. – Use a lower setting if streaking appears on dishes or glasses. ^ Selected the desired rinse aid amount and confirm with OK. ^ Select Yes and confirm with OK.
Settings ! Optimize standby Refill display A few minutes after the last key is pressed or at the end of the program the dishwasher will switch into Standby mode to save energy. When consistently using multi-function Tab detergents, you can turn off the refill displays. This function can also be turned off. The dishwasher will then turn off completely after 6 hours. ^ Select the desired setting and confirm with OK.
Settings ! Reorganize programs The order of the programs in the program list can be reorganized. The two most frequently used programs can be saved to the first two positions. } Sensor Wash B } Cancel Select program for position e Continue } ^ Select with e the program which you would like to save to the first position of the main menu. Confirm the selection with the button next to the program. ^ Confirm with Continue. ^ Repeat with the second program. The selected programs are displayed as programmed.
Settings ! Save options Buzzer Additional options can be selected for some programs, e.g. extended drying. See "Use - Selecting options". When the buzzer is activated, a tone sounds at the end of a program and if a fault occurs. Save options allows you to save the selected options for future use of the program. The buzzer at the end of a program is turned on by default. This function is turned off by default.
Settings ! Keypad tone RemoteVision A tone will sound when a button is pressed. (Optional accessory. To learn more about RemoteVision visit www.miele.com.) The volume can be set to 17 different levels. ^ Select the desired setting and confirm with OK. Brightness The display brightness can be adjusted in 17 levels. ^ Select the desired brightness and confirm with OK. Memory The memory function allows you to save the last selected program.
Settings ! Showroom program Demo modes are only for showrooms. The dishwasher has various demo programs for showrooms. The programs "Demo mode" and "Endless demo mode" show the use and function range of the dishwasher. – Demo mode: The program is started by pressing any button. It runs once and must be started again. – Endless demo mode: The program starts as soon as it is activated and runs in a loop until it is turned off. – Demo wash sound: The program activates the pumps to demonstrate the wash sound.
RemoteVision Miele's RemoteVision Wi-Fi technology creates a 'virtual link' between your appliance and our monitoring center. If a fault occurs, Miele's client service center will be notified and contact you, or another trusted individual identified on your call roster, in order to gain access to your appliance to fix the problem. Transport To transport the dishwasher, e.g. when moving to a new home, note the following: – Empty the dishwasher. – Secure any loose parts, e.g. hoses, cables, cutlery baskets. – Transport the dishwasher in the upright position. If unavoidable it may be transported on its back. Do not transport it on its side or on the door. Residual water in the machine could leak and cause electrical damage.

Cleaning and Care Exterior Check and clean your dishwasher regularly. This will help avoid faults and problems. ,Abrasive cleaning agents, all-purpose cleaners, thinner or ammonium cleaners should not be used on the dishwasher. They will damage the surface. Wash cabinet Generally, the wash cabinet is self cleaning if the correct amount of detergent is used. ^ Use a conditioner suitable for your kitchen cabinetry. ^ Clean wood with a damp cloth and wipe dry.
Cleaning and Care Indicator reflector The reflector of the optical interface is located in the steam deflector beneath the counter top. ^ Clean as necessary with a damp cloth. Control panel ^ Clean the control panel as necessary with a damp cloth. ,The appliance front and controls are not scratch proof. Remove spills immediately.
Cleaning and Care Triple filter system Cleaning the triple filter The triple filter system in the base of the wash cabinet prevents food from being redeposited on dishes. It also protects the circulation pump from damage caused by foreign objects (e.g. broken glass, bones, etc.). During normal use, the filter system is self-cleaning. ,The machine must not be used without all the filters in place! ^ Check and clean the filter system periodically for any trapped or foreign objects.
Cleaning and Care To clean the underside of the filter the flap must be opened. ^ Return the filter so it lies flat in the base of the wash cabinet. ^ Push the clips together a and open the flap b. ^ Lock the filter by turning the handle clockwise. ^ Rinse under running water. ^ Close the flap so that the clip engages. ,The triple filter system must be inserted and locked. Large particles could get in the circulation system and cause blockage.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the spray arms Sometimes particles of food get stuck in the spray arm jets. The spray arms should be inspected and cleaned every 4 - 6 months. ^ Turn off the dishwasher before cleaning. Removing the spray arms ^ Remove the cutlery tray (if present). ^ Push the upper spray arm up to engage the inner ratchet and unscrew the spray arm. ^ Lift up the middle spray arm, a, to engage the ratchet and unscrew the spray arm, b. ^ Remove the lower basket.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the water inlet filter A filter is incorporated into the intake hose attached to the dishwasher’s shut off valve. If your water is hard or the pipes contain sediment, this filter may clog and prevent enough water from entering the wash cabinet. ,The plastic housing of the water connection contains electrical wiring. Do not cut the intake hose or submerge it in liquid.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If the dishwasher is not completely drained at the end of a program, the drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked. ^ Turn off the dishwasher and pull the plug. ^ Remove the triple filter (see "Triple filter system"). ^ Use a cup or bowl to scoop water out of the wash cabinet. The drain pump is beneath the non-return valve (see arrow). ^ Remove all foreign objects from the drain pump (glass or bone splinters).

Electrical connection ,Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. Check that the voltage, frequency and fuse rating shown on the data plate match the household mains supply. The power outlet must be accessible after installation. Do not use an extension cord to connect the dishwasher to the mains. Danger of overheating! See data plate on the right side of the door. A damaged power cord must only be replaced with a genuine Miele cord by a Miele service technician.
Electrical connection Hardwired electrical connection It is possible to hardwire this appliance to an existing power cable. ,CAUTION: Before servicing, disconnect the power supply by either removing the fuse, shutting off the power main or manually "tripping" the circuit breaker. Installation work and repairs should only be performed by a qualified technician in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
Plumbing Connection to the water supply ,Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. ,Do not drink water from the dishwasher! – The dishwasher can heat its own water to the temperature required by the wash program. This allows for connection of the machine to either a hot (max. 140°F / 60°C) or cold water source. For lowest energy consumption and for fastest possible wash times connect the dishwasher to a hot water source.
Plumbing Drainage – The machine comes equipped with a built-in non-return valve on the discharge side to prevent waste water from flowing back into the dishwasher. – The dishwasher is equipped with a 5 ft (1.5 m) flexible drain hose with an internal diameter of 7/8" (22 mm). – Drain hose extensions and adapters can be ordered from Miele. The maximum drain hose length is 13 ft. (4 m), max. drain height: 39" (1 m).
