Safety instructions and warnings ~ A damaged appliance can endanger your safety. Immediately turn off the machine at the power switch and contact the Miele Service Department. ~ Machine operators must be trained on a regular basis. Untrained personnel must not be allowed access to the machine or its controls. ~ Always exercise caution when handling chemicals for this machine (cleaner, neutralizer, rinsing agent, etc.). Some of these products contain corrosive and irritating substances.
Safety instructions and warnings The following points should always be observed to assist in maintaining quality standards when processing medical devices and critical items, to protect patients and to avoid damage to property. ~ Only authorized persons may interrupt a program and only in exceptional cases.
Safety instructions and warnings ~ When using cleaning agents and special-purpose products, comply strictly with the product manufacturer's instructions. Use cleaning agents only for the applications intended by the manufacturer so as to avoid possible chemical reactions (such as explosive oxyhydrogen gas reactions). ~ Only use mobile units, modules and inserts as intended by the manufacturer. Hollow items must be positioned for full exposure to wash water.
Safety instructions and warnings Using accessories Disposing of your old appliance ~ Whatever the application, only Miele accessories should be connected to this machine. ~ Old appliances may be ~ Only Miele mobile units, modules and inserts should be used. If Miele accessories are altered in any way, or equipment from another manufacturer is used, Miele cannot ensure the cleaning and disinfection results. Description of the machine The Miele washer-disinfector is designed to clean, rinse and thermally disinfect re-usable equipment. The cleaning parameters should always be optimally matched to the type of soiling and items involved. Always comply with the particular manufacturer's instructions (EN ISO 17664). Processing chemicals are to be selected to suit the particular cleaning needs involved.
Description of the machine High -level disinfection The washer-disinfector cleans items, and in the disinfection program, simultaneously thermally disinfects at 93°C/200°F. Areas of effectiveness are physical removal or thermal inactivation of vegetative bacteria including mycobacteria, fungi, fungal spores and viruses. These catergories include the Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the Enterococcus faecium.
Description of the machine Do not clean fiberoptics or electrical equipment and components in the washer-disinfector. Rhodium coated mirrors must be arranged so that their surfaces do not suffer any mechanical damage. Not all specula with glass are suitable for machine treatment. If you have questions regarding whether an item is suitable for processing in the washer-disinfector, please seek the advice of the item manufacturer.

Caring for the environment Disposal of packing materials The packing materials help protect the appliance during transport. They have been selected with an eye to environmental compatibility and efficient disposal and should be recycled. Returning packaging to the materials cycle saves raw material and reduces waste. Disposing of your old appliance Old electric and electronic equipment often contains valuable materials but they may also contain harmful substances that were necessary for safe use.
Before using for the first time Load the machine carefully. Before using the machine for the first time please pay special attention to the following points: Detailed information on these points can be found in the relevant section of the Operating Instructions. Arrange the load so that water will come into contact with all surfaces. Concealed surfaces will not be cleaned. The spray arms must not be blocked by any items.
Opening and closing the door Electric door lock The machine is equipped with an electric door lock. The door can only be opened when ^ the electrical supply to the machine is turned on and the ^ "ON/OFF" switch is pressed. How to open the door ^ Press the "Door" button in as far as it will go, at the same time, grip the handle and open the door.
Water softener In order to provide good cleaning results, the machine requires a supply of soft water (water that is low in calcium and magnesium). If hard tap water is used, it can leave a white mineral deposit build-up on the items and the machine itself, therefore, tap water with a hardness of 4 °d (0.7 mmol/l) or more must be softened. The built-in water softener is designed for this purpose. – In order to function properly, the water softener requires a supply of reactivation salt.

Water softener How to fill the salt reservoir Only use special, coarse-grained, Miele reactivation salt with a grain size of 1 - 4 mm. NEVER use other types of salt, such as table salt, cattle salt or de-icing salt. These salts can contain components that are insoluble in water and could damage the water softener. The salt reservoir holds approximately 2.5 kg salt. ,Inadvertently filling the salt reservoir with detergent WILL damage the water softener.
Water softener Refill Salt Indicator The water softener is automatically regenerated during the next program cycle. The program display will show a Recharging during this process. ^ Add regeneration salt whenever the Refill salt indicator b Recharge is on.
Application Depending on the type of items you wish to clean and disinfect, the washer-disinfector can be used with an upper basket and/or lower basket, as well as, an assortment of inserts and special baskets to suit your needs. Baskets and inserts should be properly selected to match the application involved. On the following pages you will find loading examples and additional information.
Application How to load the machine – Always load items in such a way that all surfaces will be exposed to the cleaning water. This ensures that the items will be properly clean. – Do not nest any items inside other items. Keep each item separate. – Hollow items must be arranged for complete inside exposure to the cleaning water. – Hollow items should be inverted and placed in suitable baskets and inserts so that the water will have unrestricted access and exit.
Application Spring adapter for the water connection The spring adapter for the water connection must be properly engaged when a basket is inserted into the machine. In other words, the adapter must be 4 - 5 mm higher than the water inlet in the machine. If this is not the case, the adapter needs to be adjusted as follows: How to adjust the upper basket The upper basket can be adjusted above and below the middle position by 2 cm each.
Application Application During patient treatment, check that as little residue as possible (dental cement, polishing compound, etc.) is left on the items (wipe off as needed). After thermal disinfection, manual cleaning in accordance with the biological materials ordinance can be conducted without danger of infection. Rhodium coated mirrors must be arranged so that their surfaces do not suffer any mechanical damage. Not all glass coated mirrors are suitable for machine processing.
Dispensing processing chemicals Adding rinse aid Rinse aid is needed to ensure that water promptly falls away from the washload, preventing spots and speeding up the drying process. Rinse aid (Mielclear) is loaded into the reservoir and a pre-set amount is dispensed automatically. The rinse aid reservoir holds approximately 180 ml. ,Inadvertently filling the rinse aid reservoir with detergent WILL damage the machine. Be sure only to use rinse aid in the rinse aid reservoir. ^ Open the machine door.
Dispensing processing chemicals Rinse aid indicator light Setting the rinse aid dosage ^ Rinse aid does not need to be refilled until the "rinse" indicator light comes on in the display. The dosage adjuster has settings from 1 to 6 (in other words, 1 - 6 ml). The factory setting is at 3 ml. If the items show spots after washing, ^ adjust to a higher setting. If the items show smearing or cloudy streaks after washing, ^ adjust to a lower setting.
Dispensing processing chemicals How to add neutralizer For certain programs, neutralizer is dispensed in the rinse cycle after washing, to help prevent discoloration and corrosion spots on the items (especially around jointed areas). Neutralizer (pH = acidic) also helps counteract any traces of (alkaline) detergent from the surface of the items. When a mild alkaline detergent is used for washing, select a neutralizer that contains phosphoric acid.
Dispensing processing chemicals Neutralizer indicator light ^ When the "Neutralizer" indicator light comes on, it is important to promptly refill or exchange the neutralizer container. The "Neutralizer" indicator light should turn off. ^ If the container has been allowed to run dry, the light will not go out until the priming process is performed (See "priming the neutralizer dispensing system"). Be sure to refill / exchange the container before it becomes completely empty.
Dispensing processing chemicals How to add detergent Using powder detergent Before starting the program, load the powdered detergent into the receptacle (except for the programs "Rinse" and "Drain"). Examples: In the program cycle "Main Wash", approximately 10.5 liters of water flow into the machine. To achieve a detergent concentration of approximately 3 g/l, use 30 g of detergent. Always follow the detergent manufacturer's recommendations for dosage concentration.
Dispensing processing chemicals Liquid option As a separate option, this machine can be fitted with a dispenser pump for automatic liquid detergent dispensing (DOS Module K 60). This is connected externally. The optional DOS Module K 60 is supplied with its own installation and connection instructions. The liquid detergent is automatically dispensed in the wash step of the program. ^ Place the container of detergent next to the machine.
Operating the machine How to switch on ^ Close the door. ^ Press the "ON/OFF" button. A dot will appear in the display when the program selector is at the 12 o'clock f position. Starting a program Always choose a program to match the type and soiling level of the washload. See the program guide for a description of the various programs available. ^ Turn the program selector left or right to the desired program.
Operating the machine While the program is running, any of the following displays can be selected: – Actual temperature, – Elapsed program time and – Active wash block. ^ Press the "Display" ß button to toggle between the displays.

The door is equipped with an electric lock and can only be opened if the "ON/OFF" switch is pressed (see "Opening and closing the door"). Programmable functions DOS 1 dispensing (detergent) Setting the liquid detergent dispensing concentration The dispensing concentration only needs to be set for liquid detergents. Set the concentration according to the detergent manufacturer's recommendations. Do NOT change the setting if you are using powder detergent in the door dispenser. Programmable functions DOS 3 dispensing (neutralizer) Setting the neutralizer concentration Set the neutralizer dispensing concentration according to the manufacturer's recommendations or to meet specific requirements. Step Display / Result ^ Activate the programming mode as per page 35. ^ Press the "Drying" 0 button until E02 appears in the display. E02 ^ Set the program selector to the 6 o'clock position. The programmed dispensing concentration appears in the display, e.g., 0.10 = 0.
Programmable functions Priming the neutralizer dispensing system The dispensing system does not need to be primed (cleared of air) unless: – the dispensing concentration is being set for the first time, – the processing chemical container was not refilled in time and became completely empty. Step Display / Result ^ Activate the programming mode as per page 35. ^ Press the "Drying" 0 button until E02 appears in the display. E02 ^ Set the program selector to the 5 o'clock position.
Programmable functions Buzzer The buzzer can be programmed for the following functions: – Program end = Constant buzzer, – Fault warning = Buzzer at 1-second intervals, and – Sample-collection signal = sets of 3 short beeps followed by a 2-sec pause. Contact Miele Customer Service to program the sample-collection signal.
Programmable functions How to restore the factory settings Step Display / Result ^ Activate the programming mode as per page 35. ^ While in programming mode, press or hold E33 down the "Drying" 0 button until E33 appears in the display. ^ Turn the program selector to a program. Machine care Maintenance After every 1,000 hours of operation, or at least once a year (but never later than every 18 months), Miele Customer Service will need to perform routine maintenance on the washer-disinfector.
Machine care Process validation Routine checks It is the responsibility of the operator to routinely check that the required cleaning and disinfection processes are being conducted. In some countries, this is also required by national legislation, regulations or recommendations. Before each day's use, the operator must conduct a series of routine checks. A routine checklist is supplied with the washer-disinfector. Operators are also bound to such checks under the international standard EN ISO 15883.
Machine care Cleaning the filters in the wash cabinet Cleaning the coarse filter The filters in the base of the wash cabinet prevent large particles from entering the circulation pump. These filters can become blocked and need to be inspected on a daily basis and cleaned as needed. ,The machine must NOT be operated without the filters in place. ,Caution - danger of injury from sharp objects such as glass shards, needles, etc. ^ Squeeze the two tabs together, then remove and clean the coarse filter.
Machine care Cleaning the flat and micro-fine filters ^ Remove the coarse filter. ^ Remove the fine filter (between the coarse filter and the micro-fine filter). ^ Remove it together with the flat filter. ^ Clean the filters. ^ Re-insert the filter combination in reverse order. The flat filter must lie flat in the base of the wash cabinet. ^ Unscrew the micro-fine filter by grasping the two tabs and turning two times counter-clockwise.
Machine care Cleaning the spray arms ^ Unscrew the upper spray arm. The spray arm jets can become blocked. It is important to inspect them every day. ^ After loosening the ring nut, remove the lower spray arm. ^ Use a sharp pointed object to push any particles into the spray arm jets, then rinse thoroughly under running water. To do so, remove the spray arms as follows: ^ Remove the baskets. Upper basket or mobile unit spray arm (if applicable): ^ Loosen the ring nut on the spray arm and remove the arm.
Machine care Cleaning the control panel ^ The control panel should only be cleaned with a damp cloth or with a suitable cleaner for glass or plastic. To disinfect, use an approved cleaning agent. ,Do NOT use abrasive or all-purpose cleaners. The chemicals contained in these products can seriously damage the surface. Cleaning the front of the appliance ^ To clean the stainless steel exterior, use a damp cloth and dish liquid or a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner.
Machine care Baskets and inserts To ensure that the baskets and inserts are functioning properly, they must be checked daily. A checklist is supplied with the washer-disinfector.
Troubleshooting The following trouble-shooting guide can be used to help address minor problems without a service call, HOWEVER, it is important to note that: ,Repairs should only be performed by Miele Customer Service. Work performed by unqualified persons can place the user at considerable risk of harm. Correcting faults Temperature sensor The washer-disinfector is equipped with a (re-settable) temperature sensor that switches off the heater when it threatens to overheat. Overheating can occur when, for example, large items cover the heating elements or if the filters in the wash cabinet are blocked.
Correcting faults Cleaning the non-return valve and drain pump The drain pump is located beneath the non-return valve (see arrow). If you find that water has not been pumped away at the end of a program, the drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked. You can remove the blockage yourself. ^ Remove the filter combination from the wash cabinet. ^ Before putting the non-return valve back into place, check that the drain pump is not blocked.
Correcting faults Cleaning the filter in the water inlet Cleaning the filter There are filters in the screw connection of the water inlet hose to protect the water inlet valve. When the filters become dirty, they need to be cleaned so that enough water can flow into the wash cabinet. ^ Turn off the water supply and unscrew the water inlet hose. ^ Disconnect from the power supply. ,The plastic housing of the water connection contains an electrical component. It must NOT be submerged in water.
Correcting faults If a fault occurs and cannot be corrected using these Operating Instructions, please contact Miele Technical Service. ^ When contacting the Service department, you will need to quote the model and serial number of your appliance. This information can be found on the model plate (see "Electrical connection"). ^ You will also need to report the fault message that appears in the washer-disinfector display.

Installation How to position and secure the machine Decorative frame and decorative panel (Option) To ensure stability the washer-disinfector must first be aligned and then secured to the countertop. The front of the washer-disinfector can be fitted with a decorative panel to match the cabinetry. ^ Open the door. Decorative panels should only be exchanged in accordance with all applicable safety regulations.
Electrical connection ,All electrical work must be performed by a suitably qualified electrician in accordance with local and national safety regulations. – Electrical connection should be made via a suitable isolator with an on-off switch which should be easily accessible for servicing work. – The electrical connection is made through a receptacle according to national requirements. The receptacle has to be easily accessible after installation.
Plumbing Connecting to the water inlet ,The water in the machine is NOT suitable for drinking. – The machine must be connected to the water supply in accordance with local and national regulations. – For technical application reasons, the machine is supplied as standard for connection to cold water only. The inlet hoses (water inlet and steam condenser) must only be connected to the cold water inlets. See also "DI water connection" (hose marked H2O pure).
Plumbing DI water connection The machine is equipped for optional connection to a DI water supply. When the water pressure is below the recommended pressure, the water intake time is automatically extended. Acceptable water pressure (flow rate): 10 - 147 psi Recommended water pressure (flow rate): 25 - 60 psi ^ Connect the DI hose (pressure-tested and marked with "H2O pure") with 3/4" GHT male thread to the on-site water valve for distilled water.
Plumbing Connect the water drain – The drainage system is fitted with a non-return valve which prevents wastewater from flowing back into the machine through the drain hose. – It is best to connect the appliance to a separate drainage system on site. The on site drain connection point must be located between 0.3 m (1ft) and 1 m (3ft) above the lower edge of the appliance. If it is lower than 0.3 m, lay the hose in a curve at a height of at least 0.3 m.
