Le Time-A-Matic

fonctionne sur deux modes :

«Arrêt automatique» et «Débit continu». Le mode

«Arrêt automatique» fournit la quantité d’eau dési-

rée, puis le minuteur s’arrête automatiquement. Le

mode exclusif «Débit continu» ne comporte pas

d’arrêt automatique et permet un arrosage de durée

illimitée. Le débit d’eau est également réglable en

mode «Débit continu».

How to set your Time-A-Matic

Time-A-Matic

has two modes:

“Automatic Shut-Off” and “Continuous Flow”

The “Automatic Shut-Off” setting delivers the

amount of water you desire, then shuts itself off

automatically. The exclusive “Continuous Flow”

setting bypasses the automatic shut-off for non-

timed use. The rate of water ﬂ ow also can be

adjusted on the “Continuous Flow” mode.

Automatic Shut-Off:

Turn the dial clockwise only. Move the dial to the

desired setting of the number of gallons or liters. If

you pass the desired setting, simply turn the knob

clockwise past “OFF” and reset. The inner numbers

indicate the approximate number of hours to shut-

off, based on a water ﬂ ow of six gallons per minute.

Continuous Flow:

Turn the knob clockwise past the grey area of

the dial to the “Continuous Flow” section. You

can adjust the dial back and forth (clockwise and

counterclockwise) within the “HI-LO” setting area

only until you achieve the desired rate of water

delivery. To shut off the water, turn the dial to the

“OFF” position.

will

always deliver the correct amount of water. The time

markings are a guide to help you estimate the time, in

hours, it will take to deliver the set amount of water.

Example: If you require 700 gallons of water, set the dial

at the 700 mark. Note: the approximate time for 700 gal-

lons is two hours. This means that with a ﬂ ow rate of 6

gallons per minute, the product will deliver 700 gallons of

water in just under 2 hours.

However, if your ﬂ ow rate is lower, the Time-A-Matic

will

still deliver 700 gallons, but it will take a longer period

of time than 2 hours. If your ﬂ ow rate is greater than 6

gallons per minute, it will take less than 2 hours to deliver

700 gallons of water.

Your ﬂ ow rate, or gallons per minute (GPM), will vary at

different times of the day. Example: In the morning, with

a shower and washing machine running, your pressure

will drop, and it will take longer to deliver your set amount

of water.

Water should saturate the ground to a depth of at least

six inches. Sandy soils are more easily penetrated than

clay soils. Therefore, you will need to apply more water

to clay soil, but water it less frequently than a sandy soil.

Generally apply ¼” to ½” to a sandy soil, and ½” to 1” to

clay soil. Never water so much that water runs off your

lawn.

Converting to a stationary sprinkler

To use your Melnor Oscillating Sprinkler as a sta-

tionary sprinkler, (when you need to water a spe-

ciﬁ c area, such as ﬂ ower beds, reseeded areas of

lawns, vegetable gardens, shrubs, etc.) turn the

notch on the spray control dial until it clicks into

place on the post, as shown in the illustration.

To disengage from the stationary setting, gently

but ﬁ rmly, move the notch on the dial away from

the post. Now, you can rotate the spray control

dial to any of 72 positions to conﬁ gure the spray

and amount of water to meet your speciﬁ c lawn or

garden watering needs.

matif avant l’arrêt automatique, sur la base d’un débit

de 22,7 litres/min (6 gal/min).

DÉBIT CONTINU

Tourner le bouton dans le sens des aiguilles d’une

montre après la zone grise du cadran vers la section

«DÉBIT CONTINU» Régler le cadran d’avant en

arrière (dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre et

en sens contraire) dans la zone «HI» (haut) - «LOW»

(bas) jusqu’au débit d’eau voulu. Pour arrêter l’eau,

tourner le cadran en position «OFF».

Exemple : Pour obtenir une quantité d’eau de 2649 litres

(700 gal), régler le cadran sur le repère 700. Remarque

: Il faut environ 2 heures pour écouler 2649 litres (700

gal), ce qui signiﬁ e qu’avec un débit de 22,7 litres (6

gal) par minute, on obtient 2649 litres (700 gal) en 2

heures.

Si le débit est plus faible, le Time-A-Matic

donnera

toujours 2649 litres (700 gal), mais en plus de 2 heures.

Si le débit est supérieur à 22,7 litres (6 gal) par minute,

le Time-A-Matic

prendra moins de 2 heures à fournir

ces 2649 litres (700 gal).

Le débit (litres ou gal/min) peut varier à certains

moments de la journée pour diverses raisons. Exemple

: En début de matinée, si quelqu’un prend une douche

ou si la machine à laver est en marche, la pression de

l’eau va chuter et il faudra davantage de temps pour que

la quantité d’eau voulue soit écoulée.

L’eau doit saturer la terre sur une profondeur d’au moins 15 cm (6 po). Les sols sablonneux sont plus perméables que les sols argileux. Un sol argileux nécessitera donc davantage d’eau, mais à intervalles moins rapprochés que pour un sol sablonneux. En général, un sol sablonneux nécessite 60 à 125 mm (1/4 à 1/2 po) d’eau, et un sol argileux 125 à 250 mm (1/2 à 1 po). Ne jamais trop arroser afin d’éviter tout ruissellement.
