1. Getting started Location Important Do not place your C42 in the bathroom or other humid areas. Place your C42 corded base within reach of the AC power outlet and telephone wall jack. The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible. Make sure it is at least 1 meter away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference. Your C42 works by sending radio signals between the cordless handset and base.
Connecting the corded base and handset 1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked base. on the rear of the 2. Plug the AC power jack into the socket marked on the rear of the base and plug the AC adaptor into the AC power outlet. Switch on the AC power. 3. Plug the curly cord into the corded handset and the telephone base. Connecting the charger and charging the handset 1.
1 Press down 2 Slide 3. Slide the battery cover back into place. 4. When charging the batteries for the first time, place the handset on the charger to charge for at least 16 hours continuously. 5. When the handset is fully charged, will appear steadily on the display. The display will show the handset name and number to indicate that it is registered to the base.
Battery performance In ideal conditions, fully charged batteries should give up to 14 hours talk time or up to 200 hours standby time on a single charge.1 Note that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have been put to normal use for several days. To keep your batteries in the best condition, leave the cordless handset off the charger for a few hours at a time. Running the batteries right down at least once a week will help them last as long as possible.

3.4 Intercom 3.4.1 Make an internal call You can make internal calls between the base and any cordless handset registered to the base. 1. Press M on the base. 2. Scroll Q to select the handset to be called and press the left O key to confirm. 3.4.2 1. Receive an internal call Lift the corded handset to answer the call. Note If during an internal call at the base you receive an incoming call, you will hear the alert tone on the base. Place the corded handset on the base to end the internal call.
3.5 Hands-free speakerphone To talk to the caller without holding the handset and for other people in the room to listen to the conversation over the loudspeaker, simply use the handsfree function. 3.5.1 1. Make a hands-free call Dial the number and then press K on the base, you will hear the call over the base loudspeaker. Note During a hands-free call, press P or Q to adjust the volume. There are 5 levels to choose from. 3.5.2 1.

4. Phonebook You can store up to 100 names and numbers in the corded base. Names can be up to 16 characters long and numbers up to 24 digits. The base and handset share the phonebook. 4.1 1. 5. Personal settings 5.1 Sounds 5.1.1 Ring volume You can adjust the ringer volume and set different volume levels on the corded base. Choose from 5 volume levels or Off. 1. Press the left O key, scroll Q to Personal set. 2. Press the left O key, Sounds is displayed. 3. Press the left O key, Ring volume is displayed. 4. 6. Advanced settings 6.1 Call block You can set the phone so that when certain phone numbers call the phone does not ring. For this feature to work, you must subscribe to Caller ID service from your network operator. A subscription fee may be payable. You can go to Call block by pressing the dedicated Z key on the base, or. through the base menu as described below 6.1.
If you want to change/delete the block number, follow the first 4 steps above. Then scroll to the slot where the number is stored and press the left O key. Delete the number by pressing the right O key. Then either press the left O key to save no number or enter the new number. Press the left O key to save. 6.2 Area code The area code must be 3 digits long. 1. Press the left O key, scroll d to Advanced set. 2. Press the left O key, scroll d to Area code. 3. Press the left O key, enter the area code. 4.
4. Press the left O key. Confirm PIN is displayed. 5. Enter the PIN, then press the left O key or press the right O key to delete the PIN. 6.7 Deregister a handset Use your base to deregister a handset. 1. Press the left O key, scroll Q to Advanced set. 2. Press the left O key, scroll Q to Deregister. 3. Press the left O key, enter the 4 digit master PIN (default = 0000). 4. 7. Caller ID and the Calls list 7.1 Caller ID To use Caller ID, you must first subscribe to the service from your network provider. A subscription fee may be payable. If you have subscribed to a Caller ID service, you will be able to see your caller’s number on your base (provided it is not withheld) prior to answering the call. The display can show the last 16 digits or 16 characters of the phone numbers or names.
7.2.1 1. View the Calls list Press Q to open the Calls list. 2. Scroll P or Q to the entry you want. 3. Press the left O key, the display shows View. 4. Press the left O key to view the call name and time and date of the call, press the left O key to switch between the name and number. 7.2.2 1. 8. Using your Answering Machine The phone can digitally record up to 25 minutes of messages. The answering machine can be operated from: • the base, see below. • the handset, see page 53. • remotely, from any other DTMF telephone, see page 36. Via the base 8.1 1. Switch the answering machine on / off Press Y. 8.2 Listening to your messages Press L to listen to all messages. The voice prompt and display tell you the number of the message being played.
8.5 Outgoing message This is the message your callers hear on the answer machine. There are 2 prerecorded outgoing messages, or you can record your own. 8.5.1 Record also The pre-set Record also message, that allows your caller to leave a message, is ‘Hello, your call cannot be taken at this moment, so please leave your message after the tone’. 8.5.2 Answer only The caller can listen to your outgoing message but cannot leave a message.
8.7 Remote access You can operate your answering machine from any DTMF phone by calling your product and entering a 4 digit security PIN code. 1. Dial your telephone number. When you hear your outgoing message, press *. 2. Enter your 4-digit PIN (default setting 0000) you will hear a confirmation beep. Use the keypad to operate the answering machine. Press 1 to play new messages. Press 5 to turn the answering machine on or off. Press 2 to play all messages. Press 6 to play the next message.

9.4 Intercom 9.4.1 Make an internal call You can make internal calls between the base and cordless handset, or if you have more than one handset registered to the base, you can make internal calls between two handsets. 1. Press I on the cordless handset. • If you have only one cordless handset, the base is called automatically, Handset 1 is displayed on the corded base. • If more than one cordless handset is registered to the base, the handset number (e.g. Handset 1, Handset 2) or Base is displayed.
9.4.4 3-way conference call You can hold a 3-way conference call between 2 internal callers and 1 external caller. During a call at the cordless handset with an external caller: 1. Press I on the cordless handset to put the external caller on hold. • If you have only one cordless handset, the base is called automatically, Handset 1 is displayed on the corded base. • If more than one cordless handset is registered to the base, the handset number (e.g. Handset 1, Handset 2) or Base is displayed. 2.
2. Scroll U or D to the entry you want. 3. Press C to dial the displayed entry or press E to return to standby. Note If the called number exactly matches an entry stored in the phonebook, the name is displayed. 9.6.2 1. Copy a Redial list number to the phonebook Press the right O key to open the Redial list. 2. Scroll U or D to the entry you want. 3. Press the left O key. The display shows the selected number. 4. Press the left O key. The display shows Save number. 5. Press the left O key.

Press the left O key to confirm. 11.1.5 Docking tone on/off When you replace the handset on the charger, you will hear a double beep. You can switch this beep on or off. 1.
11.3 Setting the date and time If you have subscribed to Caller ID service, the date and time will be set on all your handsets whenever a call is received. You can also manually set the date and time on the individual handsets. 1. Press the left O key, scroll D to Personal set. 2. Press the left O key, scroll D to Date & time and press the left O key. 3. Enter the date using the format MM-DD-YYYY e.g. 04-12-2021 for 4th of December 2021 and press the left O key.
12. Advanced settings 12.1 Call block You can set the phone so that when certain phone numbers call, the phone does not ring. For this feature to work, you must subscribe to Caller ID service from your network operator. A subscription fee may be payable. You can go to Call block through the handset menu as described below, or by pressing the dedicated B key on the handset. 12.1.
Note When you are storing a phone number in the Block list, you will need to store the full number including the dialing code for the number to be blocked. If you want to change/delete the block number, follow the first 4 steps above. Then scroll to the slot where the number is stored and press the left O key. Delete the number by pressing the right O key. Then either press the left O key to save no number or enter the new number. Press the left O key to save. 12.
12.6 Change the PIN You can change the PIN using for registration or deregistration. 1. Press the left O key, scroll to Advanced set. 2. Press the left O key, scroll D to Change PIN. 3. Press the left O key, New PIN is displayed. 4. Enter the PIN and press the left O key. 5. Confirm PIN is displayed. Enter the PIN, then press the left O key or press the right O key to delete the PIN. 12.7 Registration Up to 4 handsets can be registered to one base station.
12.8 Restore default settings You can restore your C42 to its default (original) settings. All the handsets that are registered to the base will be retained. Important Resetting your phone will restore all handset and base settings to its default settings but Redial, Calls lists and Phonebook numbers will be retained. 1. Press the left O key, scroll D to Advanced set. 2. Press the left O key, scroll D to Reset. 3. Press the left O key, Confirm? is displayed. 4. Press the left O key to confirm. 12.

15. Help The on the cordless handset is not scrolling during charge • Bad battery contact – move the handset slightly. • Dirty contact – Clean the battery contact with a cloth moistened with alcohol. • Battery is full – no need to charge. No dialing tone • No power – check the connections. Reset the phone: unplug and plug back in the socket. • Batteries of the cordless handset are empty – charge the batteries for at least 16 hours.
Caller ID service does not work • Check your subscription with your network operator. A phonebook entry cannot be stored • The phonebook is full. Delete an entry to free memory. No display • Try recharging the batteries. • Try disconnecting and connecting the base power supply. • If LED is not lit up, then try disconnecting and connecting the base power supply. Unable to register another cordless handset • Maximum number of 4 handsets has been reached. • The display shows Searching.

17. General information Cleaning • Clean the handset and base (or charger cradle) with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe. • Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause static shock.
