Environmental requirements • • • • The device can be operated at an environmental temperature of 5°C to 35°C and a relative humidity of 20%–80% (non-condensing). In a switched-off state, the device can be stored at temperatures from 0°C to 60°C. Remove the aerial cable (if one is attached) during thunderstorms. Keep the original packaging in the event the device needs to be transported.
Handling batteries Batteries may contain combustible materials. If not handled correctly batteries can leak, become very hot, ignite or even explode, which could damage your appliance or/and your health. It is very important that you follow the instructions below: • Keep batteries away from children. Contact your doctor immediately if a battery is swallowed. • Never charge batteries (unless they are designed to be recharged). • Never discharge the batteries by means of high power output.
• • • • Remove the batteries from the device if you do not intend to use it for a long period of time. Clean the contacts on the batteries and on the machine before inserting the batteries. Cover the contacts of the batteries with sticky tape if you want to store or dispose of them. Do not dispose of used batteries in household rubbish. Initial operation Your USB HDTV Tuner has a DVB-T aerial connection and is operated via the USB port. To avoid damage to your computer or the USB HDTV Tuner, remove the stick when not in use or when transporting your computer. When you again want to use the TV function, reconnect the USB HDTV Tuner in the previously used USB port. PLEASE NOTE! Where possible, always connect the USB HDTV Tuner to the same port that it was originally installed on.
Insert/change remote control battery The battery is already inserted in the remote control upon delivery. To activate the remote control, remove the insulation strip containing the notice “PLEASE REMOVE BEFORE USE” from the underside of the remote control. Changing the battery The remote control requires one 3 V button battery, type CR2025. WARNING! There is a risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly. Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type.
Installing drivers and player software PLEASE NOTE! Before you connect the USB HDTV Tuner, you must first install the required driver and the player software. ATTENTION! Important files may be changed or overwritten during the installation of programs or drivers! Before installing a program, make a backup of your original files to ensure that you will be able to access them later if problems occur when installing the software.
• • • Select a language. Click “DRIVER INSTALLATION” to install the driver. Follow the instructions on the screen. Click “SOFTWARE INSTALLATION” to install the player software. Follow the instructions on the screen. The player software and the application for the remote control will be installed consecutively. PLEASE NOTE! A licence key needs to be entered to install the player software. This can be found on the CD cover.
Removing the USB HDTV Tuner Remove your TV tuner as follows: • Close the application for TV reception. • Remove all cables. • Unplug the USB HDTV Tuner from the USB port. Connecting the aerial In order to receive a digital TV signal with the USB HDTV Tuner, connect the supplied aerial to the USB HDTV Tuner. ATTENTION! Disconnect the aerial when the device is not being used, especially during thunderstorms. This will protect your device from possible lightning strikes.
Customer service Not all stations/no stations are found during channel search. • Check whether digital TV programmes are being transmitted in your area. There is not universal coverage for the transmission of digital services. • The reception signal is too weak. Change the position of the aerial. • Check the cable connection. • Check whether the correct country setting has been entered when setting up the player software. If required, carry out a new station search.
Technical support This USB HDTV Tuner has been thoroughly and successfully tested in our test laboratory with a wide variety of devices. However, the drivers will need to be updated from time to time. This is because there may be compatibility problems with other components (programs, devices) which have not yet been tested.
