11 Safety Instructions Operating Safety Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with this unit. This unit is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or for those without experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or they have been instructed on its use. Keep packaging material such as plastic film away from children. There is a risk of suffocation if used improperly.
12 Set-Up Location In the first hours of operation, new devices may emit a typical, unavoidable but completely harmless smell, which will decline increasingly in the course of time. We recommend that you ventilate the room regularly, in order to counteract the formation of the smell. Keep your LCD TV and all connected devices away from moisture and avoid dust, heat and direct sunlight. Do not use the device outdoors because other effects such as rain, snow etc. can also damage the device.
13 Intended Environment The device can be operated at an ambient temperature of +5° C to +40° C and a relative humidity of 20% - 85% (non condensing). In the switched-off state the LCD TV can be stored from -20° C to +60° C. Keep the device at a distance of at least one metre from high frequencies and magnetic sources of interference (television, loudspeaker boxes, mobile telephones etc.) to avoid malfunctioning.
14 Power Supply Please note Even when the mains switch is off some components of the device are live. In order to disconnect the power to your LCD TV or to completely isolate the device from voltage sources remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Only plug the LCD TV into an earthed socket with 100-240 V~ 50/60 Hz. Contact you electricity provider if you are not sure if the socket is earthed or not. The socket must be near the LCD TV and easily accessible.
15 Battery Handling Batteries can contain combustible materials. If not handled correctly batteries can leak, become very hot, ignite or even explode, which could damage your device or/and your health. Please ensure compliance with the following advice: Keep batteries away from children. Contact your doctor immediately if a battery is swallowed. Never charge batteries (unless it is clearly indicated). Never discharge batteries by high power output. Never short-circuit the batteries.
16 Information about Conformity The device fulfils electromagnetic compatibility and electricity safety requirements. Your device complies with the basic requirements and the relevant Australian EMC guidelines [electromagnetic compatibility] and the Australian electrical safety guidelines. This device fulfils the basic requirements and the relevant regulation of the Ecodesign Guideline 2009/125/EG (Commission Regulation 1275/2008).
17 Start of Operation Note Before starting up please make sure that you read the "Safety instructions" section on page 11. Unpacking Select a suitable place for setting up the appliance. Open the box very carefully to avoid damaging the appliance. The device could be damaged if you use a knife with a long blade to open the box. The box contains a number of small items (including batteries). Keep these items out of reach of children; the parts are easy to swallow.
18 Inserting the batteries in the remote control Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control. Replace the cover. Insert two (AAA) 1.5-V batteries in the battery compartment of the remote control. Check the battery polarity (inscribed on the bottom of the battery compartment). Note Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for long periods. The remote control can be damaged by leaking batteries.
19 Press the button on the remote control or the POWER button on the righthand side of the unit to switch the device over to standby mode again. The unit continues to consume power in this mode. Press the mains switch at the back of the unit to switch it off completely. After switching on the unit for the first time You will be guided through the First Time Installation menu after you switch the device on for the first time.
20 Channel selection To select a channel, either press the buttons P+/– (on the device or on the remote control) or select the channel directly by pressing the appropriate numbers. To enter a two or three-digit number press the -/-- button twice or three times and then enter the two- or three-digit channel number. Press the button to select the last channel played. Setting the volume You can increase or decrease the volume by pressing the volume buttons on the remote control or on the device.
21 Picture Setting Use the P.MODE button to switch between the following picture modes: Standard, Dynamic, Mild, Personal. The Personal setting is defined under the menu option PICTURE > Picture Mode. Depending on the program, the pictures are displayed in the formats 4:3 or 16:9. Use the ASPECT button to adjust the picture format: Auto: The format displayed is automatically adjusted to match the input signal. 4:3: For undistorted screen display in 4:3 format.
22 Displaying Information Press the INFO button to display the following current settings: – Channel position – Color System – Sound System You can get the same information when you switch over to a different channel. Favourites List You can enter a list of your favourite channels under the menu options CHANNEL > Program Edit (see page 39). Press FAV to display your list of favourite channels. Use the direction buttons or the buttons FAV - / FAV + to select a channel.
23 DVD Mode The inbuilt DVD player is managed via DVD Mode. Switching between TV and DVD Mode Use INPUT to open the source selection list. Use the direction arrows to go to DVD. Confirm your selection with OK. To return to TV mode, repeat this process. But instead of DVD, now select the option ATV or DTV, depending on the type of signal. Inserting a DVD Note The integrated DVD player only supports media with a diameter of 12 cm.
24 Button function Special display message If you select a function which is not available on the disc you have inserted or cannot be accessed in the current mode, the ‘not valid’ symbol shown here will appear on the screen. The symbol disappears after a few seconds. Playback Press the button to start or pause playback. Press the continue playback. button again to (Stop) Press once to stop playback. In this mode, you can continue on from the same point by pressing .
25 DVD Press GOTO once: enter the desired chapter within the title. Press GOTO twice: enter the desired time within the title in the format H:MM:SS. Press GOTO three times: enter the desired time within the chapter in the format H:MM:SS. Audio CD/VCD Press GOTO once: Disc Go To – enter the desired time on the CD in the format H:MM:SS. Press GOTO twice: Track Go To – enter the desired time within a track in the format H:MM:SS.
26 REPEAT Press the yellow button [REPEAT] during playback. The repeat symbol appears on the screen and, each time the button is pressed, so does the section to be repeated (the entry disappears after a few seconds): DVD: Chapter > Title > ALL Audio-CD: Title > ALL MP3/WMA/VCD: Playback: 1 Title > Repeat Title > Repeat Folder > Playback: 1 Folder PROGRAM (playback sequence) The programming function allows you to play up to 20 chapters (DVD) or tracks (audio) in any order you specify.
27 LANG (Audio Setting (Language)) Press LANG repeatedly to select another audio setting on the DVD (e.g. twochannel audio or 5.1 channel surround sound) or the required spoken language. The change is made immediately and does not need to be confirmed. Note Please note that this function is not available on all DVDs. Open DVD menu Using the TITLE and D.MENU buttons, you can open the menus stored on the DVD. The D.MENU button usually opens the main menu and the TITLE button the track menu.
28 JPEG Images With JPEG images you will see a preview of the image on the right-hand side of the menu. Select an image and confirm with OK to view a large image. All images within the active folder can be displayed in succession (slide show). You rotate the picture by holding down the arrow keys . Please note that it might not be possible to display very large pictures. SETUP menu in DVD mode While the DVD is running, press the DVD SETUP button. The SETUP menu’s main page appears on the screen.
29 OSD Language This sets the OSD (On-Screen-Display) language, i.e. the language for the DVD player menus. When selecting a language the menu changes immediately. Last Memory The DVD player will remember the position at which you stopped the most recently inserted DVD, with this function. The replay will begin at the most recent position, if the same DVD is reinserted in the device. The last position on the DVD will even be retained if you switch off the device.
30 Menu: Preferences Page TV Type Select the colour standard for the image replay here: PAL The usual colour format in many European countries. AUTO Automatic setting to the correct colour format. NTSC The usual colour format in North America. Audio The DVD’s default language track is preset here, provided the DVD has multiple language tracks. Subtitle Here you can set the default language for the subtitles stored on the DVD, provided it contains subtitles. Disc Menu Lang.
31 Password With this option a password can be entered so as to restrict access to the player by others. Confirm the entry Change with OK. Old Password Enter the existing password with the number keys on the remote control. It comprises exactly four digits. If no password has been entered, the default password is valid 0000. The next entry field becomes active when you enter the correct password. New Password Enter a four-digit password using the number keys on the remote control.
32 Operation through the Remote Control The following functions of the DVD player are available to you through the remote: A 32
34 Media Mode The LED LCD TV comes with 1 USB port (rear) that can be accessed via Media mode. Media Mode and USB Connectivity Plug in your external USB device (USB stick, external hard disk drive) into the USB port of the TV. Drive numbers (C:\, D:\, E:\ etc) will be allocated depending on the partitions of the USB device (e.g. an external hard disk drive might have several partitions). For the definition of how drive numbers are assigned, please see “Drive Assignment Definition” below.
35 The recording function can be achieved in 2 ways: Press the record button (PVR = Red Colour Button) directly while watching DTV programs. Through EPG scheduling function. Recording via record button (PVR or red button) While watching DTV programs, press the PVR button (red button) on the remote control. A symbol for recording will be shown in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
36 If you want the TV to switch back to Standby mode after the recording has been completed (switching back from ON to Standby) please use the “Auto Standby” function in the TIME OSD menu to set the “Auto Standby” time (starting from 3 hours). Using the “Auto Standby” function will ensure that the TV will switch back from operational mode (ON) to Standby mode according to the set time.
37 Switching between TV Mode and Media Mode Use AV/INPUT to call up the source selection list. Use the direction buttons to go to Media. Confirm your selection by pressing OK. Repeat this process to return to TV mode but, instead of selecting Media, choose the option ATV or DTV, depending on the type of signal.
38 Basic OSD Menu Settings You can customise certain functions of the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu. Navigating within the Menu Press the MENU button to activate the OSD. The available options are displayed on the lower edge of the screen. You can use the direction keys to select the options from the main menu. Use to switch over to the menu entries. You can use the direction keys to select the options from any of the menus. Press MENU to return to the main menu.
39 Menu System CHANNEL Menu Menu item Setting Auto Tuning Perform the search here. DVB-T Manual Tuning You can program individual channels in DTV mode manually here. ATV Manual Tuning You can program individual channels in ATV mode manually here. Program Edit A Current CH Use this to select the channel you would like to address. Colour System PAL, SECAM, Auto. For Australia, the colour system is set to PAL. Sound System BG, DK, L, I. For Australia, the sound system is set to BG.
40 Rename Select the transmitter that you wish to rename and press the green [INTRO] key. Now, you will be able to change the first letter; you will be able to scroll up and down through the letters with the direction keys. Move to the next drive letter with direction key, etc. Press the green [INTRO] key again at the end to save the name. Move Select the program and press the yellow button [REPEAT]. Move the channel with to the desired position and press the yellow button [REPEAT] again.
41 PICTURE Menu Menu Item Setting Picture Mode Select picture mode: Standard, Soft, Personal, Dynamic. This function corresponds to the P.MODE button. The Personal setting lets you set the Contrast, Brightness, Colour, Tint and Sharpness yourself. The other parameters are defined. Contrast Increase or decrease contrast (on a scale of 0 – 100). Brightness Increase or decrease brightness (on a scale of 0 – 100). Colour Increase or decrease colour (on a scale of 0 – 100).
42 SOUND Menu Menu Item Setting Sound Mode Select audio mode: Standard, Music, Movie, Sports, Personal. This function corresponds to the S.MODE button. The Personal setting lets you set the Treble, Bass and Balance yourself. The other parameters are defined. Treble Increase or decrease treble (on a scale of 0 – 100). Bass Increase or decrease bass (on a scale of 0 – 100). Balance Set the balance between the left and right speakers.
43 TIME Menu Menu Item Setting Clock Time display. No setting possible. Time Zone This lets you set the time zone. This option is only available in DTV mode. Sleep Timer Select a time after which the device should switch itself off automatically. A Select Off to end the function. Auto Standby Set the time by which the LED LCD TV will switch itself off automatically here. OSD Timer Set the time after which the OSD menu will close automatically.
44 LOCK Menu Menu Item Setting Lock System This is used to unlock the settings Block Program, Parental Guidance and Key Lock. To do so, enter the password. Delivery state: 0000. Set Password An input field for entering the passwords will appear. Please enter old password Use the number buttons to enter the existing password. Delivery state: 0000. Please enter new password Enter a new four-digit password. Confirm new password Enter the new password again. The appropriate message will appear.
45 SETUP Menu Menu Item Setting OSD Language Select the language of the OSD menu or of the TT language. It will change immediately. TT Language This setting is to select the language of the teletext reception function of the TV. Teletext/Austext service has been discontinued in Australia, therefore this setting has no effect. Hearing Impaired If the station transmits special audio signals for the hearing impaired, you can set the setting to On to receive these signals.
46 EPG - PROGRAM GUIDE Open the Electronic Program Guide with the EPG button. This function will only be available to you in the DTV Mode. You will see the current and the next station in the Table. Select a program with . Go to the program guide of the program selected with Scroll through the stations with . Pay attention to the fact that: The program information displayed is created by the transmitting organisations.
47 Yellow Button [REPEAT] Schedule Shows the list of the programs that have been programmed by the Memory function. See the next point for the programming of a memory. You can delete a program from the timetable with the red [PROGRAM] button. Blue button [A-B] Remind Puts the selected program into the timetable. The device will switch to the program set automatically as soon as the time programmed is reached. . It will not be possible to store the current program in the memory.
48 Connecting External Devices Connecting Headphones The headphones are connected via headphone socket. Caution! Using headphones at high volume generates excessive acoustic pressure and can result in permanent hearing damage. Before pressing play, set the volume to the lowest setting. Start playback and increase the volume to a comfortable level. Changes to the basic equaliser settings can increase the volume and thus damage your hearing permanently.
49 3. Component Video Cable (3 x RCA) If the DVD player has component outputs, we recommend connecting the player to the Component inputs on the LED LCD TV using a component cable (RCA cable green/blue/red). Important! Use the component adapter supplied with the device exclusively. Connect a stereo RCA cable (red and white jacks) to the AUDIO L – R inputs to transmit audio. 4.
50 Device with HDMI or DVI Output HDMI ("High Definition Multimedia Interface") in consumer electronics is the only interface that transmits audio and video data simultaneously. It handles all image and sound formats currently in use, including HDTV (High Definition TV), which means it can also display resolutions of 1080i without any loss in quality. Many consumer electronic devices, e.g. DVD players, are now equipped with HDMI outputs.
51 Connecting a PC or Notebook The LED LCD TV is connected to your PC or Notebook like a monitor or additional monitor. The picture on your notebook or PC is then transmitted to the LED LCD TV. Connect the LED LCD TV to the PC as follows: Switch both devices off. Connect a VGA cable (monitor cable; not supplied) to the VGA input of the LED LCD TV and to the graphic card output of the PC or Notebook.
52 Troubleshooting Malfunctions can sometimes have quite trivial causes, but on other occasions they are the result of defective components. We would like to give you a few options for rectifying your problem. If these tips don’t do the trick, then we’ll be more than pleased to help you out. Just give us a call! You’ll find the phone numbers on the back inside cover, under the warranty conditions. Fault Solution There is no picture and no sound.
53 There are stripes on the display or the colours are faded. Is there interference from another device? Transmission antennae on radio stations, amateur radios and portable phones can also cause interference. Operate the device as far as possible from the device that might be causing the interference. The buttons on the device are not working properly. The child lock might be on. The remote control does not work.
54 LCD TV pixel faults Despite the most modern production methods, the highly complex technology involved in producing this type of device means there may be individual or multiple pixel drop-outs (dead pixels). This is rare, however. For active matrix TFTs with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which are each made up of three sub-pixels (red, green, blue), there are a total of approx. 3.2 Mio. control elements in use.
55 Cleaning You can increase the lifespan of your device as follows: Caution! Always unplug the unit and disconnect all cables before cleaning. To protect the TV from scratches, protective film has been applied to the highgloss finish. Remove the films after you have set up the TV set correctly. If the high-gloss finish becomes dirty, wipe off the dust first. Then wipe down gently with a cleaning cloth.
56 Disposal Packaging Your device has been packaged to protect it from sustaining damage in transit. The packaging is made of environmentally-friendly material which can be recycled. Device At the end of its service life, the device should not be disposed of with the household rubbish. Please enquire about the options for environmentallyfriendly disposal.
