When the resin insulating tip inside the carbon brush is exposed to contact the commutator, it will automatically shut off the motor. Lubrication Lubricate t h e tool every time after replacing carbon brushes. 0 Run the tool for several minutes to warm it up, then rest the tool on the table with the chuck cover (bit) end pointing toward the ceiling. This will allow the old grease to collect inside the crank housing. After five minutes, take off the crank cap and remove the old grease.
