Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on (1) battery charger, (2) battery, and (3) product using battery. ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR CHARGER & BATTERY CARTRIDGE 1. Do not charge Battery Cartridge when temperature is BELOW 1 0 ° C ( 5 O o F ) or ABOVE 4OoC (104OF). 2. Do not attempt to use a step-up transformer, an engine generator or DC power receptacle. 3. Do not allow anything t o cover or clog the charger vents. 4. Always cover the battery terminals with the battery cover when the battery cartridge is not used. 5 .
Installing or removing battery cartridge Always switch off t h e tool before insertion or removal of t h e battery cartridge. 0 0 0 To remove the battery cartridge, pull out t h e set plate on the tool and grasp both sides of the cartridge while withdrawing it from the barrel. To insert the battery cartridge, align t h e tongue on t h e battery cartridge with t h e groove in t h e housing and slip it into place. Snap t h e set plate back into place.
Installing or removing drill bit or driver bit CAUTION : Always be sure t h a t the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before installing or removing t h e bit. To install t h e bit, place it in the chuck as far as it will go. Tighten the chuck by hand. Place the chuck key in each of the three holes and tighten clockwise. Be sure to tighten all three chuck holes evenly. To remove the bit, turn the chuck key counterclockwise in just one hole, then loosen the chuck by hand.
CAUTION : Before inserting t h e battery cartridge into the tool, always check t o see t h a t the trigger switch actuates properly and returns t o the "OFF" position when released. Reversing switch action This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction of rotation. Slide the reversing switch t o t h e right for clockwise rotation or t o the left for counterclockwise. CAUTION : Always check the direction of rotation before operation.
Adjusting fastening torque The fastening torque can be adjusted in six stages by turning the adjusting ring so that the pointer on the adjusting ring points to a number o n the tool body. The fastening torque is minimum when t h e pointer points to the number 1 and maximum marking. The when it points to the -8clutch will slip at varying torque levels when the pointer is set at the numbers 1 to 5. The clutch is designed not to slip at the .. marking.
