Vent plastic wrap by turning back one edge slightly to allow excess steam to escape. The dish should be deep enough so that the plastic wrap will not touch the food. As the food heats it may melt the plastic wrap wherever the wrap touches the food.

Shallow packages will defrost more quickly than a deep block. Make sure the foil does not touch the sides, top, or bottom of the oven. The foil can damage the oven lining.

The oven automatically determines the required cooking time for each food item. A: No. The metal screen bounces the energy back to the oven cavity. The holes (or ports) allow only light to pass through. They do not let microwave energy pass through.
