Chapter 2. Get started with your computer Work with Windows The following table contains Windows frequently used settings. You can learn the basics and start working with Windows right away. To configure settings, type the corresponding keywords in the Windows search box and select the best match. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize settings. Table 1.

Enter what you are looking for in the search box and get search results. Connect an external display Connect a projector or a monitor to your computer to give presentations or expand your workspace.
Chapter 3. Explore your computer Lenovo Vantage The preinstalled Lenovo Vantage is a customized one-stop solution to help you maintain your computer with automated updates and fixes, configure hardware settings, and get personalized support. Access Lenovo Vantage Type Lenovo Vantage in the search box and then press Enter. To download the latest version of Lenovo Vantage, go to Microsoft Store and search by the app name.
Transfer data Quickly share your files using the built-in Bluetooth technology among devices with the same features. You also can install a disc or media card to transfer data. Connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device (for selected models) You can connect all types of Bluetooth-enabled devices to your computer, such as a keyboard, a mouse, a smartphone, or speakers. To ensure that the connection is successful, place the devices 10 meters (33 feet), at most, from the computer. 1.
• Double-click the ISO file. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions. Use a media card (for selected models) If your computer has a SD-card slot, read the following information. Install a media card 1. Locate the SD-card slot. 2. Ensure that the metal contacts on the card are facing the ones in the SD-card slot. Insert the card firmly into the SD-card slot until it is secured in place. Remove a media card Attention: Before removing a media card, eject the card from the Windows operating system first.

Chapter 4. CRU replacement Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) are parts that can be upgraded or replaced by the customer. Lenovo computers contain the following types of CRUs: • Self-service CRUs: Refer to parts that can be installed or replaced easily by customer themselves or by trained service technicians at an additional cost. • Optional-service CRUs: Refer to parts that can be installed or replaced by customers with a greater skill level.
• Power supply assembly * for selected models Remove or replace a CRU This section provides instructions on how to remove or replace a CRU. Power cord Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is cool. Note: Do not remove the power cord when the computer is connected to ac power. Otherwise, there might be a risk of short circuits.
4. Reinstall all removed parts. 5. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Computer cover Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is cool. Replacement procedure 1.
5. Install the new computer cover and secure the cover with the screws. 6. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Front bezel Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is cool.
4. Install the front bezel by securing the three plastic tabs as shown. 5. Reinstall all removed parts. 6. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Chapter 4.
Storage drive Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Attention: The internal storage drive is sensitive. Inappropriate handling might cause damage and permanent loss of data. When handling the internal storage drive, observe the following guidelines: • Replace the internal storage drive only for upgrade or repair. The internal storage drive is not designed for frequent changes or replacement.
8. Install the storage drive and secure it with screws. 9. Pivot the drive bay assembly downward until it snaps into position. Chapter 4.
10. Reinstall all removed parts. 11. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the data cable and power cable to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Storage drive bracket Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Replacement Procedure 1. Turn off the computer and remove all connected devices and cables. 2. Remove the computer cover. See “Computer cover” on page 15. 3.
8. Remove the storage drive bracket. 9. Install the new storage drive bracket and pivot the drive bay assemble downward. Chapter 4.
10. Reinstall all removed parts. 11. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. M.2 solid-state drive Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Attention: To replace the Optane memory in the M.2 solid-state drive slot, go to https://support.lenovo.com/ docs/tg_ssd for details.
2. Remove the computer cover. See “Computer cover” on page 15. 3. Remove the front bezel. See “Front bezel” on page 16. 4. Remove the screw from M.2 solid-state drive. 5. Slide the M.2 solid-state drive out. 6. Install the M.2 solid-state drive in. 7. Secure the M.2 solid-state drive with the screw. 8. Reinstall all removed parts. 9. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer.
Power supply assembly Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repairs before reading the Important Product Information Guide. Although there are no moving parts in your computer after the power cord has been disconnected, the following warnings are required for your safety and proper Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification. CAUTION: Hazardous moving parts.
7. Connect the new power supply assembly cables to the system board. 8. Install the power supply assembly and then, install the screws. 9. Reinstall all removed parts. 10. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Coin-cell battery Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions.
DANGER If the coin-cell battery is incorrectly replaced, there is danger of an explosion. The coin-cell battery contains a small amount of harmful substance. To avoid possible injury: • Replace only with a battery of the type recommended by Lenovo. • Keep the battery away from fire. • Do not expose it to excessive heat. • Do not expose it to water or rain. • Do not short-circuit it. • Do not drop, crush, puncture the battery, or make it subject to strong forces.
5. Install the coin-cell battery. 6. Secure the coin-cell battery with the latch. 7. Reinstall all removed parts. 8. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Chapter 4.
Optical drive Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Replacement procedure 1. Remove the computer cover. See “Computer cover” on page 15. 2. Remove the front bezel. See “Front bezel” on page 16. 3. Disconnect the data cable and power cable from the rear of the optical drive. 4. Press the release button and push the optical drive straight out of the front of the chassis. 5. Detach the optical drive bracket from the optical drive. 6.
7. Install the optical drive and reconnect the cables. 8. Reinstall all the removed parts. 9. Reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Heat sink assembly Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is cool. Replacement procedure 1.
6. Install the heat sink and secure it with screws. 7. Reinstall all removed parts. 8. Place the computer in an upright position. Then, reconnect the power cord and all disconnected cables to the computer. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. PCI-Express card Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions. Replacement procedure 1. Turn off the computer and remove all connected devices and cables. 2.
6. Install the PCI-Express card then, secure it by closing the card latch. 7. Reinstall all removed parts. 8. Reconnect all disconnected cables to the computer and reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Memory module Prerequisite Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions.
Attention: Do not touch the contact edge of the memory module. Otherwise, the memory module might get damaged. Replacement procedure 1. Turn off the computer and remove all connected devices and cables. 2. Remove the computer cover. See “Computer cover” on page 15. 3. Remove the front bezel. See “Front bezel” on page 16. 4. Disengage the latches and remove the memory module. 5. Install a memory module and secure the memory module with the latches.
6. Reinstall all removed parts. 7. Reconnect all disconnected cables to the computer and reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet. Note: If a locking device is available, use it to lock the computer. Chapter 4.

Chapter 5. Help and support Frequently asked questions How do I partition my storage drive? Refer to https://support.lenovo.com/solutions/ht503851 What should I do if my computer stops responding. Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off. Then restart the computer. 1. Carefully unplug the ac power adapter and turn off the computer immediately. The more quickly you stop the current from passing through the computer the more likely you will reduce damage from short circuits.
