INSTALLATION REPLACING THE BATTERIES 1 2 Remove the screw, then lift off the battery cover. Insert three (3) AAA batteries as shown by the polarity diagram in the compartment. Replace the battery cover. BATTERY PRECAUTIONS Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device: 1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified. 2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the battery compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device. 3.
INSTALLATION (CONTINUED) USING THE WRIST STRAP 1 2 Insert the unit onto the belt base and slide until it locks into the base. To remove the unit from the Belt base, press both latches to unlock the unit from the base and slide it out. USING THE NECK STRAP 1 2 Press the latch and remove the string from the necklace. Insert the string into the neck strap hole and tie it. Connect the string part into the main strap.

OPERATION TO SET THE TIME (24 HOUR CLOCK) 1 2 3 1 2 While in the Watch mode, press and hold the MENU button for three seconds; the hours will blink. Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to set the present hour, then press the MENU button 3 again; the minutes will blink. 3 4 1 2 Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to set the present minute. Press and hold the MENU button for three seconds to confirm the time setting and exit the Time Setting mode.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) USING THE STOP WATCH 1 2 3 1 2 Press the UP button 1 to start the counting. Press the UP button 1 again to stop the counting. Press the DOWN button 2 to reset the timer to 0. Press and hold the CALL button 3 for three seconds to exit the Stop Watch mode. While in the Watch mode, press and hold the CALL button for three seconds; the stop watch will appear in the display. Transmitting range The talk range depends on the environment and terrain.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TURNING THE RADIO ON OR OFF 1 2 To turn on, press and hold the POWER button until the channel display comes on. Raise the antenna. To turn off, press and hold the POWER button until the channel display turns off and a chime is heard. ADJUSTING THE VOLUME 1 1 2 To adjust the loudspeaker volume, press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button. The volume level is shown by the bars on the display. You can change the volume when using the radio or while it is idle.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) CHANGING THE CHANNELS/SUBCHANNELS This radio has 22 channels, numbered 1 to 22. To communicate with other users within range, all radios must be tuned to the same channel. 1 2 1 3 2 Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to select the desired channel number. Press the TALK button 3 to confirm. Press the MENU button; the current channel number will blink in the display.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING 1 2 To transmit, press and hold the TALK button; the Transmitting icon (TX) will appear in the display. Speak clearly in a normal tone of voice into the microphone. When finished, release the TALK button to receive transmissions. When receiving transmissions, the Receiving icon (RX) will appear in the display. NOTE: When the TALK button is pressed, you can only transmit, not receive. To receive, release the TALK button.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) VOX (Voice Activated Transmission) In VOX mode the radio will transmit whenever it detects your voice (or other noise) without the TALK button pressed. It will transmit for 2 seconds even if you stop talking. The level of VOX sensitivity is shown by numbers in the display. At the highest level (level 3), the handset will pickup softer noise (including background noise). At the lowest level, it will pick up only loud noises.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) SETTING THE RING TONE 1 2 1 3 2 Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to select one of the five ring tones. Press the TALK button 3 to confirm. Press the MENU button four times, the unit will enter Ring Setting mode and CA will blink in the display. TURNING THE RING TONE OFF If you don't want to hear the ring tone, you can set the Ring mode to OFF. When off, you can send the ring tone to other radios but your radio will not ring when others send a ring tone.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) ROGER BEEP The Roger Beep is a tone which is automatically transmitted whenever the TALK button is released. This lets the other radios know that you have finished transmitting and you are now in Receive mode. 1 2 1 3 2 Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to turn Roger Beep On or Off. Press the TALK button 3 to confirm. Press the MENU button five times, “rO” will appear in the display.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) MONITORING TWO CHANNELS AT ONCE (DUAL WATCH) 1 2 3 1 2 Press the MENU button seven times, “DCM” will appear and the setting will blink in the display. Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to select the channel. Press the MENU button 3 again, then the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to select the sub-channel (CTCSS). 3 NOTE: The display switches backwards and forwards between the two channels. If the radio detects a signal on either channel, it will stop and receive it.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TURNING OFF DUAL WATCH MODE 1 2 1 3 2 Press the UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to turn Dual Watch mode Off. Press the TALK button 3 to confirm. Press the MENU button seven times, “DCM” will appear and the setting will blink in the display. SCANNING THROUGH THE CHANNELS When the Scan function is tuned on, the handset will continuously scan through all 22 channels and all 38 sub-channels until it finds one that is transmitting.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) LOCKING THE BUTTONS With the buttons locked, you can transmit (Talk), receive or monitor the current channel. But you can't change the volume or use the MENU button. 1 2 To lock the buttons, press and hold the MENU button until the key icon appears in the display. To unlock the buttons, press and hold the MENU button until the key icon disappears from the display. USING THE HANDS FREE HEADSET You can plug a hands-free kit into the Handsfree jack on the right side of the radio.
