System Connections DV-S701 (En/E) 16 Connection with an AV receiver This unit incorporates a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder and MPEG multi-channel decoder. As a result, it can play DVD discs encoded with Dolby Digital (AC-3) or MPEG multi-channel without the need of purchasing a commercially available Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder. A DTS-encoded CD or DVD disc cannot be played. Noise may be produced if such a disc is played. The output audio is variable depending on the played discs and setups.

Glossary DV-S701 (En/E) VIDEO CD (VCD) A type of CD which contains the recording of moving images. It compresses image information by about 1/120 and audio information by about 1/6 and accommodates up to 74 minutes of recording in a disc with the same diameter as ordinary music CD of 12 cm. Some VCDs do not have the P.B.C. compatibility and are capable of playback only, while some are P.B.C.-compatible and are capable of various special playback control operations. This player can play both of these VCDs.
