Ñ Acquiring GPS signal Ñ How to reset your unit The first time you turn on this unit, you must wait while the system acquires satellite signals for the first time. This process could take up to several minutes. Make sure your vehicle is outdoors in an open area away from tall buildings and trees for fastest acquisition. After the system acquires satellites for the first time, it will acquire satellites quickly each time thereafter. If the unit fails to operate properly, press the Reset button.

First Step Various setup screens appear automatically before using. Ñ Initial setup When you first turn on the unit, the screen of the configuration setting will appear. 1 Turn the ignition key of your car to ACC. The unit is turned on. Initial SETUP screen appears. 2 Touch the corresponding key and set the value. Color Set the screen and button illumination color. Ñ iPod/iPhone connection setup Ñ Application link setup When you first select iPod as a source, the setting screen of the iPod/iPhone connection will appear. When you first select Apps as a source, the setting screen for the connection with the device installed the apps will appear. 1 Touch [Menu] on any screen. Installation Ñ Before Installation Before installation of this unit, please note the following precautions. #WARNINGS • If you connect the ignition wire (red) and the battery wire (yellow) to the car chassis (ground), you may cause a short circuit, that in turn may start a fire. Always connect those wires to the power source running through the fuse box. • Do not cut out the fuse from the ignition wire (red) and the battery wire (yellow). The power supply must be connected to the wires via the fuse.

Cutting line 9 5 General Motors cars (DNX891HD) 1) Cut out accessory 5 to meet the shape of the opening of the center console. 2) Attach accessory 5 to the unit. 5 Cut out to meet the shape of the opening in the vehicle. 2) Fold double-sided adhesive (accessory 6) along the slit and attach it to accessory 5 cut-out against the center rib as illustrated.
Ñ GPS antenna Ñ Microphone unit GPS antenna is installed inside of the car. It should be installed as horizontally as possible to allow easy reception of the GPS satellite signals. To mount the GPS antenna inside your vehicle: 1) Clean your dashboard or other surface. 2) Remove the separator of the metal plate (accessory -). 3) Press the metal plate (accessory -) down firmly on your dashboard or other mounting surface. You can bend the metal plate (accessory -) to conform to a curved surface, if necessary.
Ñ Removing the trim plate 1) Engage the catch pins on the extraction key (accessory4) and remove the two locks on the lower level. Lower the trim plate (accessory9) and pull it forward as shown in the figure. Ñ Removing the unit 1) Remove the trim plate by referring to step 1 in “Removing the trim plate”. 2) Insert the two extraction key (accessory4) deeply into the slots on each side, as shown.

Satellite Signals Adding a Shortcut After your vehicle is turned on, the navigation system begins acquiring satellite signals. The system may need a clear view of the sky to acquire satellite signals. When at least one of the bars is green, your system has acquired satellite signals. You can add shortcuts to the Where To? menu. A shortcut can point to a location, a category, or a search tool. The Where To? menu can contain up to 36 shortcut icons.
Finding Locations The navigation system offers many methods for finding locations. The detailed maps loaded in your navigation system contain locations, such as restaurants, hotels, and auto services. You can use categories to browse for nearby businesses and attractions. Finding a Location by Category 1 Select Where To?. 3 Enter a search term. Suggested search terms appear below the search bar as you type. 2 Select a category, or select Categories.
Finding Fuel Stations and Prices Finding a City Before you can use this feature, you must subscribe to the Fuel Price service, and your device must be connected via a supported phone running Smartphone Link. This feature is not available in all areas. Before you can find a city, you must add a shortcut to the cities search tool (page 13). Finding Locations Finding a Location Using Coordinates Before you can find a location using coordinates, you must add a shortcut to the coordinates search tool (page 13). You can find a location using latitude and longitude coordinates. The Map Pages Viewing a List of Turns Viewing Junctions When you are navigating a route, you can view all of the turns and maneuvers for your entire route and the distance between turns. While navigating a route, you can view the junctions on major roadways. About Smartphone Link Sending a Location from Your Phone Smartphone Link is a phone application that allows your navigation system to download live data using your phone data connection. Your system transfers data from Smartphone Link using Bluetooth wireless technology. Smartphone Link is registered as a navigation application on your phone.
About Garmin Live Services About ecoRoute Before you can use Garmin Live Services, your device must be connected to a supported phone running Smartphone Link (page 26). The ecoRoute™ feature calculates your vehicle fuel economy, carbon footprint, and the fuel price of navigating to a destination, and offers tools for improving fuel efficiency. Some Garmin Live Services, like Weather, are available as separate apps on your device.
Using the Apps Taking the ecoChallenge The ecoChallenge helps you maximize your fuel economy by scoring your driving habits. The higher your ecoChallenge scores, the more fuel you save. The ecoChallenge collects data and calculates a score whenever you are moving. Traffic Information Using the built-in receiver, the navigation system can receive and use traffic information. When a traffic message is received, you can see the event on the map and change your route to avoid the traffic incident. Traffic information is not available on all models or in all areas. Traffic on Your Route Viewing Traffic on the Map When calculating your route, the navigation system examines the current traffic and automatically optimizes the route for the shortest time. If a severe traffic delay occurs on your route while you are navigating, your navigation system automatically recalculates the route. The traffic icon changes color to indicate the severity of traffic conditions on your route or on the road you are currently traveling.
Traffic Information About Traffic Cameras Before you can use this feature, you must subscribe to the photoLive service, and your device must be connected to a supported phone running Smartphone Link (page 26). This feature is not available in all areas. Traffic cameras provide live images of traffic conditions on major roadways and intersections. You can save cameras that you want to view regularly. Customizing the Settings You can customize the settings of your GPS navigation system. When Automatic is not selected, you can adjust the time in 15-minute increments.
