The supply must be able to deliver very high current peaks in a very short time during a GSM transmit burst, typically up to 2A. During these bursts, it is recommended that the voltage drop does not exceed 400mV.

It is used as a backup power supply to maintain the internal Real Time Clock (RTC). This feature is required to maintain the date and time in the module during powered-OFF to reduce power consumption.

This condition will switch-OFF the module: A falling edge signal is detected on the PWON pin after debouncing and the signal remains low for a minimum period of 900ms. To allow key press detection, all input pins (KBR) are pulled up to VCC and all output pins (KBC) are driving a low level.
