Quick Installation Guide
This guide is intended to help you install the hardware and
software necessary for you to start using the CD-RW drive. For
more detailed information about the hardware and software,
please refer to the user manual included w ith this drive.

Hardware Installation
1. Connect the power cable from the system’s power supply to the
drive. (see diagram below)
2. The IDE Interface cable (gray ribbon) connects to the back of the
drive and goes into the Hard Disk Controller on the motherboard.
3. Connect one end of the CD Audio (Analog) Cable into the Audio
Out port on the drive, and the other end to the Audio In port of your
sound card. (The audio cable is only used for CD music playback.)
4. Secure the drive to your computer’s chassis. (Use the appropriate
screws)
Software Installation
1. Insert the Nero-Burning ROM installation CD into your CD-
ROM Drive.
2. The CD will automatically run and start the installation
program.
3. If the installation program does not launch automatically,
click on the “Start” button on the taskbar and select “Run”.
Type D:\Setup (Where D:\ is your CD-ROM drive).
4. Follow the onscreen instructions. The installation program
will guide you through the entire installation.
Jumper Setting
1. Before installing the drive into your system, make sure the
jumper setting is set correctly.
2. If the writer will be the only device connected to the IDE
cable (gray ribbon), it should be set to Master (MA).
5. You may need to restart the computer after Nero has been
installed.
6. To start using the Nero Burning Rom software, click the
"Start" button on the taskbar, go to "Programs", then cl
ick on
"Nero-Burning Rom".
7. You are now ready to burn a CD.
3. If the writer will be sharing the IDE cable with another
device, one device should be set as Master and the other
set as Slave (SL). (MA recommended for writer on
secondary IDE)
4. To set the drive as the Master drive, move the jumper to the
MA position as shown above.
5. To set the drive as the Slave drive, move the jumper to the
SL position as shown above.
5. Once all the cables are connected properly, close the computer
case and turn on your system.
6. Windows will automatically detect the drive and automatically install
the necessary drivers for the drive. (Win 95, 98, 2000)
7. If you are using Windows NT, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel
> Devices. Select “ATAPI” from the list, then click “startup” and
make sure “Boot “ is checked. Restart your computer.
8. After Windows has finished loading, go to “My Computer” and verify
that the drive has been installed. You should see another drive
letter for your new drive. (Example (E:\))
9. You are now ready to proceed with the software installation.
