Should you experience any problem you cannot easily remedy, please contact your nearest authorized service center/ department. They have competent, well-trained technicians and the proper tools to service or repair this mower. Please read and retain this manual.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Safety Instructions These instructions are for your safety. Read them carefully. WARNING! This symbol means that important safety instructions need to be emphasized. It concerns your safety. General Use • Read all instructions in this operator’s manual and on the machine before starting it. Ensure that you understand them and then abide by them. • Learn how to use the machine and its controls safely and learn how to stop quickly. Also learn to recognize the safety decals.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Be careful when rounding fixed objects, so that the blades do not hit them. Never drive over foreign objects. • Only use the machine in daylight or in other well-lit conditions. Keep the machine a safe distance from holes or other irregularities in the ground. Pay attention to other possible risks. • Never use the machine if you are tired, if you have consumed alcohol, or if you are taking other drugs or medication that can affect your vision, judgment, or coordination.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Driving on Slopes Driving on slopes is one of the operations where the risk is greatest that the driver will lose control or the machine will tip over, which can result in serious injury or death. All slopes require extra caution. If you cannot reverse up a slope or if you feel unsure, do not mow the slope. Do as follows • Remove obstacles such as stones, tree branches, etc. • Mow up and down, not side-to-side. • Never drive the rider on terrain that slopes more than 10°.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Children • Serious accidents may occur if you fail to be on guard for children in the vicinity of the machine. Children are often attracted to the machine and mowing work. Never assume that children will stay put where you last saw them. • Keep children away from the mowing area and under close supervision by another adult. • Keep an eye out and shut off the machine if children enter the work area.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Allow the engine to cool before refueling. Do not smoke. Do not fill fuel in the vicinity of sparks or open flames. • If leaks arise in the fuel system, the engine must not be started until the problem has been resolved. • Store the machine and fuel in such a way that there is no risk of leaking fuel or fuel vapor leading to damages.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Never use the machine indoors or in spaces lacking proper ventilation. The exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, an odorless, poisonous, and lethal gas. • Stop and inspect the equipment if you run over or into anything. If necessary, make repairs before starting. • Never make adjustments with the engine running. • The machine is tested and approved only with the equipment originally provided or recommended by the manufacturer.
CARTON CONTENTS UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS CARTON CONTENTS: • 3 - Container Tops 3 - Container Bottoms 1 - Upper Chute 1 - Lower Chute 1 - Catcher Mount 1 - Cover Assembly 2 - Front Weights • Remove all parts and packing materials from carton. Check carton contents against list. Be sure all parts are there.
ASSEMBLY 1 BAGGER SUPPORT ASSEMBLY (See Figures 1A and 1B) 1. Remove rear engine guard by removing the six bolts that attach the guard to the frame. 2. Attach hitch (Part No. 539108014) to the frame using the same holes and same six bolts that attached the rear engine guard. *NOTE: If your unit does not have the holes or slots on the fenders, you will need to mark and drill them before continuing.
ASSEMBLY 3 4 CONTAINER ASSEMBLY (See Figure 3) CONTAINER MOUNTING (See Figure 4) 1. Place bottom half inside of top half, as shown. 2. Place one foot inside bottom half and lift top half to meet bottom half. 3. Press halves tightly together while lifting top to lock into place as shown. 1. Install one container to left side first with warning to the outside of unit. Install another container to center position and one in right position.
ASSEMBLY 5 LOWER CHUTE (See Figure 5) 1. Turn mower engine off. 2. Raise and hold deflector shield in upright position. 2. Place slot in lower chute over tab on mower deck and position lower chute over deck opening as shown. 3. Hook rear latch into flange hole on back of mower deck. 4. Hook front latch into tab hole on front of mower deck. CAUTION Before raising deflector shield, turn mower engine off. DO NOT remove deflector shield from mower.
ASSEMBLY 8 FRONT WEIGHTS (See Figure 8) 1. Turn casters so they are facing the front as shown. 2. Bolt the weights to the front tube of the frame as shown. CAUTION DO NOT operate mower with grass catcher, unless the front weights are installed.
OPERATION TIPS FOR IMPROVED BAGGING OPERATION: Follow the mower operation instructions in you mower operator’s manual. When operating your grass catcher on a lawn where grass and leaf bagging equipment has not been used, you are picking up thatch and debris that has accumulated for long periods of time. The amount collected and the total time of operation may be greater than you will experience with regular use of your grass catcher. • • Always run throttle at full speed when bagging.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS: STORAGE: Always observe safety rules when performing any maintenance. • Before each use check for loose fasteners. • Clean unit thoroughly after each use. When grass catcher is to be stored for a period of time, clean it thoroughly, remove all dirt, grass, leaves, etc. Store in a clean, dry place. BLADE CARE: CAUTION For best results mower blades must be kept sharp. Replace bent or damaged blades.
