HP 3PAR Service Processor Onsite Customer Care (SPOCC) User’s Guide Abstract This document provides the information needed to use HP 3PAR Service Processor Onsite Customer Care (SPOCC) to maintain and update the HP 3PAR Service Processor.

1 SPOCC Overview SPOCC is a suite of service tools applications that provide a web-based user interface for support of the Service Processor (SP) and the HP 3PAR array. It provides a vehicle to review logs and files, to store various types of support documentation, and to manually record product configuration details that are not directly available from the product. To navigate the features of SPOCC, begin with the graphic navigation panel on the left side of the screen.
2 Files Overview The Files module provides a way to view logs received from the product and/or the Service Processor. When you select the display, you are presented with the production data area. • The files subdirectory is where the product, Service Processor and configuration files are stored. You can view these files by clicking the folder icon in the left column, under Type.
3 Support Overview Click Support to display a two-fold support activities page: • The first part is the StoreServs section. This section displays all attached storage systems together with links to perform various support and diagnostic activities, including Guided Maintenance. • The second part is the Service Processor section. This section is a launching pad for functions that relate to the Service Processor.
• StoreServ Product Maintenance—When you click this link for an identified storage system, the Storage System Product Maintenance menu is displayed.
• SP Network Configuration Menu—Click this link for direct access to the SP Network Configuration menu under SPMAINT on the Web, which provides network and connection portal configuration utilities. • SPMAINT on the Web—Click this link for web-based versions of many of the SPmaint functions. • Firewall Manipulation—Click this link for direct access to the SP Firewall Control menu under SPMAINT on the Web, which provides firewall utilities.
4 Update NOTE: Optional customer self-upgrade is available for the HP 3PAR 7000 StoreServ Storage systems with the 3.1.3 release of the HP 3PAR OS software. Please review the documentation thoroughly. HP recommends that you engage your service provider in performing these upgrades if you are not familiar or comfortable with the process. To arrange for HP to perform the upgrade for you, contact the HP global deployment center at 3par-sps@hp.com (in the Americas) or at SWD-3PAR-GSS-EMEA.APAC-INS@hp.
3. Read the overview on the Start step, and then click Next. NOTE: To exit the update interface at any time, click any of the tabs in the left navigation pane, or click Cancel to return to the SPOCC home page. 4. On the Select Service Processor version step, select one of the following options, depending on the location of the SP version that you want to upgrade to: • Pre-loaded—By default, this option is selected and populated with the latest SP version that is available.
• Service Processor DVD drive—This option enables you to import the update from the SP’s physical media drive. • Location path—(HP authorized users only) This option enables HP authorized users to specify the location path of a directory that contains the software RPMs. Click Next. NOTE: If you selected the ISO image, Service Processor DVD drive, or Location path option, the load operation occurs automatically, and the SP software version is displayed as the Pre-loaded default option. 5. 6.
9. On the Install update step, review the update version and options you selected, and then click Install. IMPORTANT: An update procedure cannot be canceled after it starts. NOTE: If an update installation is currently in progress, you will receive the following message: The update process cannot proceed because an update is already in progress In this case, click OK to be redirected to the Updating HP 3PAR OS status page.
5 Notify Overview Click Notify to display a list of all notification records and user profiles that have been created on the SP. • Notification is a subscription-based activity. If you want to be notified for a particular product, site, or symptom, you must add a notification record, which defines how and when you want to be notified. • You can selectively suppress notifications by creating a suppression record, which inhibits notification based on a user-defined symptom match.
5. Click Select. The Add Notification screen is displayed. a. Select the desired notification type: b. • Product • Site Select the desired duration for this notification record. NOTE: c. Select the desired notification means for each of the following conditions. NOTE: d. The default duration is from the current date to ten years from the current date. Make sure that the user profile is set up for the desired means.
5. Click Select. The Add Symptom Notification screen is displayed. a. Enter the symptom that you want to trigger a notification. NOTE: The symptom notification is based on pattern matching, so a user should enter only that part of a symptom that will produce the desired match. Regular expressions are permitted. b. c. Select the desired product family from the Product Family list. Select the desired duration for this notification record. NOTE: d.
5. Click Select. The Add Suppress Notification Record screen is displayed. a. Select the desired notification type: b. • Product • Site Enter the symptom desired for suppression. NOTE: The symptom for suppression notification is based on pattern matching, so a user should enter only that part of a symptom that will produce the desired match. Regular expressions are permitted. NOTE: To suppress all notifications for a particular system or account that is part of a larger group, enter .
Editing a Prime Shift 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. In the left navigation pane, click Notify. Click User Profiles. Click Edit for the desired user. The User Profile Form is displayed. Click the view/edit shift details link. The list of prime shifts and exceptions is displayed. Click Edit for the shift that you want to edit. NOTE: 6. 7. A user can have multiple shifts set for different time periods. Update the desired fields, such as days of the week, hours of the day, shift duration, description, and so on.
6 Reports Overview The Reports module provides a repository for various types of information reporting. SP Function Monitors • Msg Log Monitor — Selecting this monitor displays a new window that tails the current message log. It refreshes every five seconds to provide insight into running SP activities. • Work Queue Monitor — Selecting this monitor displays a new window that displays the current work queue. It refreshes every five seconds.
7 Setup Overview The Setup module provides access to utilities that are used to configure applications within the SPOCC interface. System Support Information By clicking the System Support Information link a user can display and update contact information. Click Next to view additional screens or click Back to return to the previous screen. Click Save to save any changes or click Cancel to return to the Setup page. Configuring a Mailhost 1. 2. 3. In the left navigation pane, click Setup.
This function provides general table maintenance capabilities (such as add, update, inquire, and delete) for the database Product table. This table contains installed products at this site. Generally speaking, there will be little need to update this table other than to delete deinstalled products. Products are programmatically added during “add storage server” activities. They are NOT deleted automatically during a “remove storage server” operation.
This function prompts the user to load a customer documentation CD and provides a running log of its progress. • Maintain Customer Documentation This function displays a list of all documents currently loaded on the SP and provides an option to delete them. • View Customer Documentation This is a link to the customer documentation jump page. Apache Web Server Logs The Apache web server access and error logs are used primarily to research anomalies relating to the SPOCC interface.
8 SPmaint Overview The SPmaint module provides access to utilities used for Service Processor maintenance. The SPmaint utility is the primary interface for the support (configuration, maintenance, and firmware update) of both the system and its SP.
4. 5. 6. Under Service Processor - SP User Access Control Menu, click Modify User Profile. In the Select User list, select the user you want to modify, and then click Modify User Profile. Click to select the user profile groups that you want to add the user to, and then click Add to Selected Groups. Deleting a User 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
If you enable HQ communications (either OUT or BOTH), and if the automatic software download feature is disabled, a check box is displayed on the CCA page in SPOCC that allows you to enable or disable automatic software downloads from HQ. NOTE: Starting with SP 4.2.0, when SP setup and connection to HP HQ are successfully completed, the SP is configured to accept automatic software downloads from HP HQ.
SP in the /sp/prod/data/files/weekly/ location. You can email the zipped files to spweekly@hp.com or use a file transfer protocol (FTP) site to transfer the files. To send files to HP 3PAR HQ by using FTP: 1. In a web browser, enter ftp.usa.hp.com or 15.192.89.0. 2. Log in as the spweekly user. NOTE: 3. 4. 5. Contact HP Support as needed for the spweekly user credentials. Enter bin to select binary file transfer. Enter put followed by the file name to transfer the file. Enter quit to exit the FTP process.
Verifying Remote Support To verify that Remote Support is functioning correctly, use the SPmaint module in SPOCC. 1. Log into SPOCC (https://). 2. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint. 3. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Network Configuration. 4. Under Service Processor - Network Configuration, click Test 3PAR Secure Service Collector Server. 5. Verify that SPOCC displays Connectivity test to HP 3PAR Secure Service Collector Server successful.
a. Click Home to return to the SPOCC home page. The Transfer Status entry indicates the overall status of SP file transfer. b. c. To access the SP File Transfer Monitor, click Transfer Status. Verify that SP file transfer is successful: • The Last transfer status entry should include information about the last SP transfer, including the date and time and a status of Ok.
3. Under Service Processor – Storage System Product Maintenance, click Retrieve System Crash Dumps. The SP queries the storage system for system crash dumps and notifies you if any are found and transferred. Retrieving InSplore Data 1. 2. 3. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click StoreServ Product Maintenance. Under Service Processor – Storage System Product Maintenance, click Retrieve InSplore Data.
5. 6. In the Upload Key File field, browse to the key file that you want to upload, and then click Open. Click Install License Key. Showing the Certificate 1. 2. 3. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click StoreServ Product Maintenance. Under Service Processor – Storage System Product Maintenance, click Show Certificate. The certificate is displayed as in the following example.
Execute a CLI Command 1. 2. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Execute a CLI Command. You are presented with a page to enter a CLI command. The results are then displayed. Note that this page is not interactive; it displays only the results of an issued command. Execute a Command on a Node This functionality is available only to HP authorized users. If you are not an HP authorized user, you will not see this option. 1.
