BASIC OPERATIONS Read this chapter so that you will be familiar with basic and common operations of the unit. Touch [ACCEPT]. A screen like the following, called the HOME screen, appears. Turning on and off the unit Start the engine of your vehicle, and the unit is turned on. When the unit is turned on When the unit is turned on, the warning screen appears after the startup animation. This is the “Information” screen, and is assigned as the HOME screen at the time of purchase.

BASIC OPERATIONS How to read the HOME screen Information on the HOME screen { | ~ Currently played audio Simply shows the currently played audio. You cannot select another audio source on this screen. Icons on the HOME screen {| } ~ Lane guidance Indicates the direction and distance to turn. Displayed only when the navigation function is activated, and a route guidance is in progress. 4 ~ { } Appears when the passenger’s seat heater is turned on.
BASIC OPERATIONS ~ Appears when there is/are message(s) sent from the vehicle. See “Reading messages sent from the vehicle” on page @-@@. Appears when there is/are SMS message(s) not yet read. See “Receiving text messages from other cell phones/smartphones” on page @-@@. Appears when the speaker volume is muted. Appears when the Bluetooth communication is turned on. BASIC OPERATIONS Map operation TIP Map operation can be made only when the navigation func tion is activated. 4 “Map” screen as the HOME screen Following is an example of the “Map” screen. When the “Map” screen is assigned as the HOME screen, this screen appears immediately af ter you touched [ACCEPT] on the warning screen. The warning screen appears each time the unit is turned on. This screen also appears when you touch on other screens.
BASIC OPERATIONS On the “Map” screen, you can also see POI (Point Of Interest) icons, such as and . You can select the POI icons that will be displayed on the map. For details, see “To show/hide the POI icons” on page @-@@. To change the map style Touch the compass/direction icon. Each time you touch the icon, the map style changes. 2D north up map 2D heading up map To change the map scale Use the scale change buttons. 4 This is a 2-dimentional map with the north direction always on the upper side.

Using the voice recognition function The voice recognition function allows you to control the unit by your voice. For this purpose, use the voic e rec ognition but ton “ ” on the vehicle. Make sure that [Voice recognition] is selected (a check mark is added). If you want to allow a passenger to control the unit by his/her voice, check to see that [Passenger voice recognition] is also selected. If you want to view the list of speeches you can use during voice control, check to see that [Command list up] is selected. 2.

Proceed as follows. 1. On the HOME screen, touch . 2. On the [Menu] screen, touch [Settings]. The [General] settings menu appears. 3. On the [General] setting menu, touch twice to display the suceeding items, and touch [Camera]. The [Camera] screen appears. 4. Touch [Back camera display] so that a checkmark is added.
THINGS TO DO FIRST Selecting the language You can change the display language to English or French. Use the unit with your preferred language. Proceed as follows to select the language. 1. On the HOME screen, touch . 2. On the [Menu] screen, touch [Settings]. 3. O n t h e [ G e n e r a l ] s e t t i n g s menu, touch to display the succeeding items, and touch [Language]. The [Language] screen appears. 4. To u c h e i t h e r [ E n g l i s h ] o r [French], according to your preference.

Registering your home If the navigation function is activated, you can register your home location so that you can select your home as the destination of route guidance. TIP Descriptions in this section are valid only when the navigation function is activated. 5 Touch the desired notation, [12h] or [24h]. 5. Touch or for hour and minute to set the clock to the current time. 6. Touch to return to the HOME screen.

To go back to your home using route guidance Once you have registered your home, you can set a route from the current location to your home, and then start route guidance. An example of typical procedure is shown below. 1. On the HOME screen, touch - [NAVI]. The [Navigation] menu appears. 5. Touch [Current location]. [ADRESS] is replaced with the actual address of the current location on the map, i.e., your home address. 6. Touch [Set].
THINGS TO DO FIRST Registering your Yamaha dealer 5 If the navigation function is activated, you can register your Yamaha dealer location. The registered dealer location can be selected as the destination of route guidance. In addition, when you try to make an emergency phone call, the registered Yamaha dealer will be listed on the [Emergency] screen, thus you will be able to call the dealer by simply touching it. THINGS TO DO FIRST To register your Yamaha dealer by entering its name 1. On the [My Dealer] screen, touch [Dealer name search]. 2. Enter the name of your Yamaha dealer by using the software keyboard, then touch [Enter]. 3. Touch [Set]. The designated Yamaha dealer location is registered. To register your Yamaha dealer by entering its phone number 1. On the [My Dealer] screen, touch [Phone number]. 2. Enter the phone number of your Yamaha dealer by using the numeric software keyboard, then touch [Set].
THINGS TO DO FIRST Registering a Bluetooth device 5 You can use a Bluetooth device such as a smartphone with the unit. With a Bluetooth device, you can make hands-free phone FRPPXQLFDWLRQ HQMR\ SOD\EDFN RI music stored in it, or use its roaming function, provided that these functions are sup p or te d by the B lueto oth device. To use a Bluetooth device with the unit, you must first c onnec t the Bluetooth device with the unit. Such connection is also known as “pairing”.

Calling up screens for destination search directly from the map When the screen shows a map with the “current location” icon on it, you can easily call up various screens for destination search. SEARCHING FOR YOUR DESTINATION Editing the [Destination] menu You can move a button to a different position, delete a button, or add a new button on the [Destination] menu. Edit the [Destination] menu so that it will be more convenient for you. 6 To move a button to a different position 1. Open the [Destination] menu. See “Opening the [Destination] menu” on page @-@@. 2. Touch [Edit]. A screen like the following appears. 3. Touch the button you want to move.

Setting a route After having found your destination, you can set a route from the current location to the destination. ROUTE GUIDANCE To change the route type Starting route guidance On the [Route select] screen, touch [Route change]. Each time you touch [Route change], the route type changes in the following order. [Shortest]: A route with the minimum distance to the destinaiton will be suggested. (The route is highlighted orange.) [Fastest]: You will arrive to the destination within the shortest time. (The route is highlighted green.) [Sp or t]: A route on whi c h you FDQ HQMR\ VSRU WV UXQQLQJ ZLOO EH suggested.
ROUTE GUIDANCE How to read and operate the screen during route guidance O An example screen during route guidance is given below. The current street name is used for the screen name. Lane guidance Turning street name Current speed and speed limit indication O 7 O Estimated time display Currently Moving time played audio display O Lane guidance Indicates the direction and distance to turn. ROUTE GUIDANCE Home right button O Scale change buttons Touch for a larger scale, and touch for a smaller scale. The above four buttons will be hidden when a certain time has elapsed after the route guidance began. To show these buttons, touch one of the four partially visible portions of them. Scale change buttons O O Touch this but ton to open the [Menu] screen. Home right button One of the following four buttons appears here.
ROUTE GUIDANCE 7. Touch the following part of the screen. Touch here to set the newly selected location as the new destination. Touch here to set the newly selected location as a transit point. 7 Ending route guidance To end the route guidance before reaching the destination, proceed as follows. 1. Touch one of the four partially visible portions of the HOME screen buttons. 2. Touch . 3. Touch [NAVI]. 4. Touch [Quit guidance]. 5. On the confirmation window that appears, touch [Yes].
ROUTE GUIDANCE Receiving information from SiriusXM To view weather information on the map If you have already subscribed to the SiriusXM Sattellite Radio service, you can receive a variaty of information helpful to your cruising. On the [SiriusXM Weather] screen, touch [On map]. The screen changes to the map with weather information displayed on it. To access SiriusXM 1. On the HOME screen, touch [NAVI]. The [Navigation] menu appears. To receive weather information 1.
ROUTE GUIDANCE To view weather information of a VSHFLÀHG PRPHQW To change the weather information location On the [SiriusXM Weather] screen, touch [3,6hr]. Each time you touch [3,6hr], the current weather information, the 3-hour later weather information, and the 6-hour later weather information will be displayed in this order. On the [SiriusXM Weather] screen, touch [Change location]. The screen changes as follows, and you can specify a location to view weather information of the location.
ROUTE GUIDANCE To receive information on the fuel price 1. O p e n t h e [ S i r i u s X M i n f o . ] screen. See “To access SiriusXM” on page @-@@. 2. Touch [Fuel price]. The screen changes as follows. The screen is referred to as the [SiriusXM Fuel price] screen. To select a brand On the [SiriusXM Fuel price] screen, touch [Brand]. You can select a brand name on the screen that appears.
ROUTE GUIDANCE 2. Touch [Logbook]. The [Logbook] screen appears. To show information on the selected cruising Touch [Log info.]. A screen like the following appears, on which an information window is open. To export the logbook to a USB memory device On the [Logbook] screen, touch [Export]. ???????? To erase the logbook content On the [Logbook] screen, touch [Delete]. ???????? On the [Logbook] screen, a list of cruising you have made is shown.
ENJOYING AUDIO PLAYBACK Listening to an FM broadcast To call up the FM reception screen 1. On the HOME screen, touch - [Audio]. Alternatively, touch on the HOME screen, if it is set as the home right button. The audio screen played last is displayed. 2. On the media selection tab, touch or and then touch [FM]. The FM reception screen appears. Station name and content name A passenger can search for the desired station by pressing the REV/ FWD (reverse/forward) buttons “ / ” on the vehicle.
ENJOYING AUDIO PLAYBACK To show the detected stations Touch [List]. I f y o u t o u c h [ L i s t] i m m e d i a t e l y after you turned on the unit, all the detected stations will be shown. If you touch [List] af ter touching [Categ], the detected stations in the VSHFLÀHG FDWHJRU\ ZLOO EH VKRZQ ??????????? ??????????? To make audio settings Touch . The following screen appears. Listening to an AM broadcast To call up the AM reception screen 1. On the HOME screen, touch - [Audio].

COMMUNICATION Making a phone call If a phone device such as a smar tphone is connected to the unit via Bluetooth, you can make a hands-free phone call. COMMUNICATION Receiving text messages from other cell phones/smartphones If the connected phone device, such as a smartphone, corresponds to a short message service (SMS), you can view received messages on the screen. 1.
