When installing the ventilation fan in a new construction site, install the main body of the fan and duct work during the rough‑in construction of the building. The grill should be installed after the finished ceiling is in place.

Installation 4B 1 Determining the joist width □ □ Measure the distance from the center of the two ceiling joists where you will be installing the ventilation fan. For 12 in. spaced joists, proceed to step 2. For joist spacing 16 in. – 24 in. proceed to step 3. NOTE: Sliding hanger bars are provided to allow for accurate positioning of the main body between joists. 2 Installing on a 12 in.
Installation (continued) 5B 4 5 Installing on a 16 – 24 in. joist □ □ □ □ □ Use long wood screws (CC) to loosely attach the main body of the fan to one ceiling joist in the two locations shown. Extend the hanger bars to the opposite ceiling joist. Secure the suspension brackets (B, C, and D) to the joist using long wood screws (CC). Ensure the main body is level and square to the joists. Tighten all screws.

Attaching the grill □ □ □ Plug the connector into the receptacle. Insert the mounting springs into the slots in the grill assembly (E). Squeeze springs together and insert into the main body (A).
