1. Introduction
The Programming Unit IR PC allows a PC
workstation to program user keys and to
exchange data with hand-held program-
mers.
The PUPC1 is equipped with a Reader
that can communicate with proximity keys
placed at its apex. It also has an IR port
that can communicate bi-directionally with
such devices as the handheld BCL.
Figure 1: The PUPC1 Programming Unit
The PC Programming Unit is connected
through a standard DB9 RS232 serial ca-
ble to the COM port of the workstation,
and is powered through a 9VAC wall
transformer that is supplied with the unit.
The PC needs to be loaded with one of
the Dialock software programs (e.g. Per-
sonnel, Hotel).
In a typical Dialock PC-application, the
PUPC1 is used to recognize an activation
key that unlocks the programming soft-
ware. Once the software is accessed, it
allows the following functionality:
Reading keys
Programming R/W keys
Downloading Terminal configuration
to a handheld Beam Control Lite
Uploading data from the BCL (which
may include event history from a
Terminal)
Two LEDs are provided on the PUPC1 to
indicate its operating status.
