6.1 CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING
THE BATTERY
NEGATIVE GROUNDED BATTERY (standard):
1. Always disconnect the charger from the mains when connecting the
battery.
2. First connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
3. Connect the black cable to the body/ground of the vehicle. If the battery is
not being charged in the car then connect the black cable to the negative
(–) terminal of the battery.
Attention: if the battery is being charged in the car, the negative cable may
not come into direct contact with the battery or the fuel line.
4. Now connect the charger with your mains.
5. Set the correct charging voltage according to your battery by pressing the
6 V/12 V button. The LED 6 V or 12 V will indicate the selected charging
voltage.
6. The charging cycle will automatically start five seconds after the charging
voltage has been selected. The chosen mode will be locked to avoid an
accidental changing of the voltage. The LED “Laden (charging) will light
up. Detailed information of the charging cycle is described under point 7.
7. The battery is fully loaded when the green LED “Fertig” (finished) lights up
and the LED Laden” switches itself off.
8. After finishing the charging cycle disconnect charger from the mains first.
9. Then disconnect the black terminal from the battery/vehicle body and finally
disconnect the red cable from the battery.
POSITIVE GROUNDED BATTERY
1. Always disconnect the charger from the mains when connecting the
battery.
2. First connect the black cable to the negative (–) terminal of the battery.
3. Connect the red cable to the body/ground of the vehicle. If the battery is
not being charged in the car then connect the red cable to the positive (+)
terminal of the battery.
