PREPARATION FOR USE POWER SOURCES This personal stereo radio with AM/FM/TV and Weather Band digital tuner is designed to operate on one alkaline “AAA” battery, not included. Attempting to operate this unit on any other power source may cause damage to the unit and such damage is not covered by your warranty. INSTALLING THE BATTERY The battery compartment is located on the back-side of the radio cabinet. 1.) Press down on the mark on the battery cover and slide the cover in the direction of the arrow. 2.
ARM-BAND STRAP INSTALLATION This radio is supplied with an accessory arm-band strap to secure the radio on your arm while you are jogging or performing other strenuous activities. To install the arm-band strap, thread the strap through the two slots on the back cabinet as shown, and then through the buckle. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS • Make sure the battery is installed correctly. • Set the VOLUME control to a low level. • Fully unwind the headphone cord and connect the headphone plug to the PHONES jack. The plug must be fully inserted into the jack, otherwise the sound may be intermittent. • Make sure that the HOLD switch is in the ‘Off’position. IMPORTANT INFORMATION This personal stereo radio is designed to be “water-resistant”. Jogging in the rain with this radio will cause no problems.
HOLD Switch “ ” The HOLD switch locks all of the other controls BASS PRESET buttons. If you are carrying the radio in a FM backpack, handbag, gym bag, etc, set the HOLD switch to the ‘On’position to prevent it from turning ‘On’ accidentally by something pressing against the POWER button.
SETTING THE CLOCK The clock must be set with the radio ‘Off’. 1.) Press the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button for at least two seconds. The time display begins AM to flash. 2.) While the display is flashing press the TUNING + /CLOCK SET-H button to adjust the hour. Be sure to set correctly for AM or PM. 3.) Press the TUNING – /CLOCK SET-M button to adjust the minutes. 4.) When the display shows the correct time, press the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button once more.
LISTENING TO RADIO Information This radio receives normal AM and FM broadcasts plus the TV sound from VHF TV stations 2 through 13. In addition it receives all 7 NOAA weather frequencies so you can listen to continuous National Weather Service broadcasts. Please note that the weather channels are identified as “1 ch” through “7 ch”. • Most USA residents will find their local weather broadcast on channels 1, 2, or 3. • Channels 4 through 7 are newer stations used in some areas.
OPERATION 1.) Make sure that the HOLD button is in the ‘Off’ position. (The HOLD indicator does not appear in the display.) 2.) Press the POWER button to turn the radio PRESET ‘On’. An AM, FM, TV or Weather Band FM frequency will appear in the display. 3.) If necessary press the BAND button to switch between AM, FM, TV and Weather bands. PRESET WB The appropriate band indicator appears in the display to confirm your selection. 4.
PRESETTING STATIONS IN THE TUNER MEMORY You may preset up to 42 of your favorite stations (20 FM, 10 AM, 7 TV, and 5 Weather) in the tuner memory for easy recall at any time. 1.) Tune to the first station that you wish to memorize. Example: FM 103.5 MHz. When the desired frequency appears in the display depress and hold the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button for at least 2 seconds. The PRESET indicator appears and PRESET FM preset memory “1” begins to flash. 2.
RECALLING PRESET STATIONS 1.) Turn the radio ‘On’and press the BAND button to select the desired band. 2.) Press the PRESET UP or PRESET DOWN buttons to scroll through the preset numbers. CHANGING A PRESET STATION To change a preset station simply tune to the new station that you wish to memorize, press the MEMORY/CLOCK SET button, and then select the number of the memory you wish to change by pressing the PRESET UP or PRESET DOWN buttons.
SETTING THE ALARM TIMER You can set the Alarm Timer to turn the radio on automatically. However there is no buzzer alarm in this model so you must have the headphones on to hear the radio alarm. The Alarm Time can only be set while the radio is ‘Off’. 1.) Press the ALARM button. The display will show “A AM 12:00”. AM 2.) Immediately press MEMORY/CLOCK SET button. The time display begins to flash. AM 3.) Press the TUNING + button to set the desired alarm hour, AM or PM.
SNOOZE/REPEAT ALARM After the radio turns ‘On’automatically you may press the SNOOZE button to stop the radio for a few more minutes. The radio stops but the Alarm PM indicator continues to flash. After 5 minutes the radio turns ‘On’again. SLEEP Timer You can use the Sleep timer to shut the radio ‘Off’automatically after up to 100 minutes of operation. Note: The radio must be ‘Off’in order to set the Sleep timer. 1.) Depress and hold the POWER (SLEEP) SLEEP button.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE There are no user serviceable parts inside this radio. Please refer all service problems to a qualified service facility. If the cabinet becomes dusty, wipe the exterior with a soft dust cloth only. Never use dusting sprays or polishes on the cabinet. If the cabinet becomes dirty or smudged with fingerprints it may be wiped with a soft cloth that has been slightly dampened with a mild soap and water solution. and never allow any liquid to get inside the cabinet.
LIMITED WARRANTY Emerson Radio Corp. warrants manufacturing defects in original material, including original parts and workmanship, under normal use and conditions, for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of original purchase in the U.S. With your dated proof of purchase, we will provide repair service at no charge for labor and parts at an authorized Depot Repair Facility, or replace the product in our discretion.
