Use of this radio outside the country where it was intended to be distributed is subject to government regulations and may be prohibited. Safety and General Information DO NOT hold the antenna when the radio is “IN USE.” Holding the antenna affects call quality and may cause the radio to operate at a higher power level than needed. Two-way Radio Operation When using your radio as a traditional two-way radio, hold the radio in a vertical position with the microphone one to two inches (2.5 to 5 cm) away from the lips.
Safety and General Information 4 ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE/COMPATIBILITY Note: Nearly every electronic device is susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if inadequately shielded, designed or otherwise configured for electromagnetic compatibility. • FACILITIES To avoid electromagnetic interference and/or compatibility conflicts, turn off your radio in any facility where posted notices instruct you to do so.

Safety and General Information 6 OPERATIONAL WARNINGS • FOR VEHICLES WITH AN AIR BAG Do not place a portable radio in the area over an air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Air bags inflate with great force. If a portable radio is placed in the air bag deployment area and the air bag inflates, the radio may be propelled with great force and cause serious injury to occupants of the vehicle.
Safety and General Information OPERATIONAL CAUTIONS • ANTENNAS Do not use any portable radio that has a damaged antenna. If a damaged antenna comes into contact with your skin, a minor burn can result. • BATTERIES All batteries can cause property damage and/or bodily injury such as burns if a conductive material such as jewelry, keys, or beaded chains touch exposed terminals. The conductive material may complete an electrical circuit (short circuit) and become quite hot.

Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by Motorola may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury. 8. Make sure that the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to damage or stress. 9. An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary.

Sharing Radio Channels Your radio has multiple channels that you share with other groups on a “take turns” basis. Other groups may be talking on the channels.

Display Symbols The following picture shows some of the display symbols you might see while using your radio.
Power Batteries Disney Motorola radios operate with 4 AAA Alkaline batteries. Installation 1. With back of radio facing you, press down battery cover latch. 2. Remove battery cover. 3. Insert 4 AAA batteries as shown. 4. Reposition battery cover and press down to secure. Power Battery Cover 12 Low Battery Alert When batteries are low, a battery low indicator (K)appears on the radio display.
Note: Remove batteries before storing your radio for extended periods. Batteries corrode over time and may cause permanent damage to your radio. To communicate, all radios in your group must be set to the same channel (1-14) and interference eliminator code (0-38). • For clearest communication, hold radio 2 to 3 inches from mouth. • Press and hold the Abutton and speak into the microphone. The Q indicator appears on the right side of the radio display while you are talking.
Talking and Listening Changing Channels If other groups are using the current channel, follow these steps to change to a new channel: 14 Do This Result 1. From Standby screen, press G two times. The current channel number flashes. 2. Press Bor Cto change channel number. 3. Press Ato save channel setting. The display returns to Standby screen, with new channel number displayed.
Changing Interference Eliminator Code If there is interference on a channel, try changing the interference eliminator code to minimize the interference. Result 1. From Standby screen, press G three times. The current interference eliminator code flashes. Talking and Listening Do This 2. Press Bor Cto change code. 3. Press Ato save code setting. The display returns to Standby screen, with new code displayed.
Talking and Listening You can set a different code for each channel. To set a channel and code combination: 1. Press G two times and then press Bor Cto select the channel. 2. Press Gagain and then press Bor Cto select a code. 3. Press Ato exit the menu and save the channel and code combination. To set another channel and code combination, repeat these steps. 16 Changing Volume Do This Result 1. Press Bto decrease or Cto increase the volume. The display shows the current volume setting (1-16). 2.
Time-Out Timer The time-out timer helps extend battery life by preventing accidental transmission. The radio emits a continuous warning tone if A is pressed for 60 continuous seconds. The radio then stops transmitting. Locking the Keypad To avoid accidentally changing radio operation, you can lock the keypad. When the keypad is locked, the Gbutton does not work. You will no longer be able to change the call tone, channel, or interference eliminator code. Do This Result 1. Press and hold G for 3 seconds.
Do This Result 2. To unlock, press and hold Gfor 3 seconds The Odisappears, indicating the keypad is unlocked. Alerts Sending and Changing Call Tones Call tones are sounds you can send to get your listener’s attention before you start talking. Your radio has 5 different sounds you can send. Each sound is a different Disney character’s voice. The picture on the radio display shows the selected character. Alerts To send the selected call tone, press D.
To change the call tone: Do This Result 1. From Standby screen, press G one time. The display shows the Dsymbol next to the Disney character’s picture. 3. When the desired character is shown, press A. The display returns to Standby screen, with the new character displayed. Alerts 2. Press Bor C to change and hear the different character voices.
Talk Confirmation Tone When the talk confirmation tone is turned on, your radio sends a unique tone when you finish talking and release the Abutton. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know you’re finished talking. When this tone is turned on, the N symbol appears on the Standby screen. Alerts To turn the talk confirmation tone on or off: 20 Do This Result 1. From Standby screen, press G four times. The display shows the N symbol. 2.
Do This Result 3. When the setting you want is shown, press A. The display returns to Standby screen. Alert Tone When the alert tone is turned on, your radio sounds a tone whenever you press a button on the keypad. When this tone is turned on, the P symbol appears on the Standby screen. Do This Result 1. From Standby screen, press G five times. The display shows the P symbol.
Do This Result 2. Press Cor Bto turn the alert tone on or off. The M symbol means the tone is on. The L symbol means the tone is off. Alerts 3. When the setting you want is shown, press Abutton. 22 The display returns to Standby mode.

Problem Solution Troubleshooting Hearing Other Conversation or Shared channel may be in use. Try another channel. Noise on a Channel 24 Limited Talk Range Steel/concrete structures, heavy foliage, and use in buildings and in vehicles will decrease range. Check for clear line of sight to improve transmission. Wearing radio close to body, such as in a pocket or on a belt, will decrease range. Change location of radio. Heavy Static or Interference Radios too close.
Use and Care XXX To clean the radio, use a soft damp cloth. Do not immerse in water. Do not use alcohol or cleaning solutions. Dry with soft cloth.
