Overview NASPi is a NUC-style NAS storage solution based on the latest Raspberry Pi 4. It supports 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD. All the Raspberry Pi 4 interfaces are adjusted to the back through the X-C1 adapter board, build in software safety shutdown function, using PWM fan can dynamically adjust the speed of the fan according to the temperature of the CPU. The shell is made of all aluminum alloy, CNC processing method, surface anodizing treatment.
Update History We have done some update of the NASPi Kit in August 2021. 1. The X823 2.5" SATA Shield has been updated from V1.3 version to V1.5 version. Added 4pcs test pins on the X823 V1.5, the X823 V1.5 and Raspberry Pi 4 power each other via test pins, remove the 2pin power cable that used to connect from X-C1 to X823 V1.3 shield. 2. The Fan Vent position of NASPi Case has been updated, now the fan vent can align with the PWM cooling fan well for better heat dissipation.
Gen2: For Raspberry Pi 4+X823 V1.5 SATA Shield+X-C1 V1.3 Adapter+PWM Fan with Bracket Remove the 2pin power cable that connect from X-C1 to X823 V1.3 shield; New X825 V1.5 and Raspberry Pi 4 power each other by the 4pcs test pins. FAQ Q1. Will the Alu case affect the WIFI? A: As our test, 2.4G WIFI AP was usable. But different Raspberry Pi individuals have different degrees of WIFI interference. As well as aluminum alloy case will interfere with Pi 4 ’s WIFI to a certain extent. 2.4G WIFI maybe unstable. So it is strongly recommend to use Ethernet or 5G AP. Refer to 5G WiFi test video: youtu.be/LKJVIBQFYXs Q2: What is the thickness of a 2.5" HDD/SSD that can be accommodated? A: The thickness of 2.
NASPi Stress Test Refer to: https://wiki.geekworm.com/Naspi_stress_test Overview We conducted a stress test on NASPi to check the heat dissipation of the product. We use rpi cpu stress to stress test the Raspberry Pi 4 2GB version, the OS is 2021-05-07-raspios-buster-armhf.img, and the charger used is Type-C Huawei 65W fast charger, program running time exceeds 30 minutes. How to test? git clone https://github.com/geekworm-com/rpi-cpu-stress cd rpi-cpu-stress chmod +x stress.sh sudo ./stress.
The following is the log output of the program, temp divided by 1000 is the current CPU temperature. Test result The 4 CPU cores are running at full load, the maximum temperature of the CPU core does not exceed 75 degrees, and the surface of the shell does not generate heat, which meets the design requirements. https://geekworm.com Support: support@geekworm.
WiFi Improvement After collect customer feedback, we know that the 2.4G WiFi maybe not stable to use, and different Raspberry Pi individuals have different degrees of WiFi interference. As well as aluminum alloy case will interfere with Pi 4’s WiFi to a certain extent. So it is strongly recommend to use Ethernet or 5G WiFi AP. To improve the WiFi signal, start from July 15th 2021, we added one backup acrylic front panel into the NASPi kit to help strengthen the WiFi signal.
Full Size HDMI In July 15, 2021, we also added one Micro HDMI Male to HDMI Female Adapter in the NASPi kit to transfer micro HDMI to full size HDMI to use. https://geekworm.com Support: support@geekworm.
