GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS
The complete luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be a

H9, plus ordering number logic from catalog) UL844 Listed
for use in Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D (for paint spray
area fixture _______ [specify 50, 70 or 100] watt high pressure
sodium [HPS] or 100 watt mercury or metal halide, all voltages
with nameplate Suitable for locations having deposits of
readily combustible paint residues.”), Class II, Division 1, Groups
E, F, and G locations or UL1598 Listed, Outdoor Salt Water
Marine(formerly UL595), or approved equal, for operation of one
_______ (specify [50, 70, 100, 150(55V), 200, 250 or 400] watt
high pressure sodium [HPS], [100, 175, 250 or 400] watt metal
halide or mercury) lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120,
208, 240, 277 or 480) volt, 60 Hertz power source and shall be
capable of starting and operating the specified lamp within the
limits specified by the lamp manufacturer.
The luminaire shall contain a completely prewired integral bal-
last and optical assembly and be suitable for continuous ser-
vice, either indoors or outdoors, in an ambient temperature of
55°C for under 400 watts (4C for 400 watt).
The luminaire shall have a clearly visible NEMA lamp identifica-
tion decal and a metal nameplate including pertinent luminaire
rating data. Labeling shall be in accordance with UL and NEMA
Listings. Standard construction is IP65.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
BALLAST OPERATION
The optical assembly shall contain a mogul base socket with
superior lamp gripping. The socket shall have the ability to
handle the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems. The lu-
minaire shall contain an integral ballast* that shall be prewired
to the lamp socket and terminal board (and ignitor for high
pressure sodium fixture). The ballast shall be in full compliance
with lamp-ballast specifications available to the fixture manu-
facturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture
manufacture.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient
temperatures down to -2F for mercury and metal halide or
-40°F for HPS.
The luminaire and ballast shall be from the same manufacture.
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
The optical assembly shall include a _______ (specify
computer-designed high-impact resistant glass globe with or
without Maxi-Lux
®
guard, deep dome or angle dome reflector).
External reflectors shall be aluminum with a chemically bonded
lightweight non-breakable ALGLAS
®
finish on inside and outside
surfaces for corrosion resistance.
The non-metallic Maxi-Lux guard shall be of inverted design for
improved photometric performance.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
For ease of installation and to facilitate maintenance and re-
placement, the luminaire shall be supplied as components
ballast and optical, mounting, accessories.
The ballast housing shall be of die-cast low-copper aluminum
alloy with an electrocoat gray paint finish.
The luminaire shall be _______ (specify pendant, flexible
pendant, wall, ceiling, angle stanchion or straight stanchion)
mounted. All mounting adapters shall have Acme square-cut
threads (to reduce possibility of cross threading) and an elec-
tro-mechanical safety disconnect with an integral conduit seal
formed by the threaded male disconnect. All external hardware
shall be stainless steel.
SUSPENDED VERSION
FLOODLIGHT VERSION
The floodlight version of this luminaire shall include a cable
connector with safety disconnect. The adjustable trunnion with
integral degree marker must be aimed below horizontal.
