Setting the Public mode (Power off) The Public mode (Power off) is an automatic answering service used to ensure good manners in public places. Set the Public mode (Power off) to play a message for the caller stating that your FOMA terminal is turned off or are somewhere where your FOMA terminal must be turned off (hospital, airplane, near priority seats on a train, etc.), and that the call will be disconnected. 1 →"Phone"→enter " 25251"→"SEND" Call/Network Services The Public mode (Power off) is set.
■ Using static IP addresses You can also enter static IP addresses for connecting to Wi-Fi networks. Settings ■ Radio interference with wireless LANs Wireless LANs (IEEE802.11b/g) use the same frequency band (2.4 GHz) as the Bluetooth function. For this reason, using the Bluetooth LAN function of your FOMA terminal at the same time as the wireless function may cause radio interference, drop in communications speed, noise, or failed connections.
Connecting to a VPN (Virtual Private Network) VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a technology for accessing information in a protected local network, such as that in a company or a university, from the outside. To set a VPN connection from your FOMA terminal, obtain security information from your network administrator.

Applications 3 Scroll to display allowed operations ● Allowing installation of applications from unknown sources You can allow installation of applications received via email or sites other than Android Market. ● To protect your FOMA terminal and personal data, download only applications from trusted sources such as Android Market.

Types of mail available on your FOMA terminal The following mail can be used on your FOMA terminal. ■ Email Mail accounts provided by mopera U and general service providers can be set to your FOMA terminal so that email can be sent and received just like you can on a PC. ■ sp-mode mail Image, melodies and other files can be attached to text messages and sent and received between docomo i-mode terminals and PCs or mobile phones made by other manufacturers.

SMS Note You cannot check for any SMS in the SMS center from your FOMA terminal. ● SMS cannot be received when your FOMA terminal is low on memory. Increase memory, for example, by deleting unwanted applications (P. 67, P. 118). ● You can send and receive text messages up to 70 double-byte characters long (up to 160 single-byte characters comprising only alphanumerics) addressed to a mobile phone number.
Google Talk Google Talk is an online instant message service provided by Google. You can enjoy chat with Google members by using Google Talk on your FOMA terminal. ● To use Google Talk, you must set a Google account on your FOMA terminal. If a Google account is not yet set, follow the on-screen instructions that are displayed when Google Talk is activated for the first time.
About the mobile indicator Signing out When the mobile indicator is displayed at the right of a member's name in the Friends list, you can tell that the member is currently logged in from an Android Mobile indicator mobile phone.

For this reason, the signal cannot be received at places where the broadcast does not reach or while broadcasting is out of service, regardless of whether your FOMA terminal is outside or inside the FOMA service area.
Using TV links Recording 1Seg With some data broadcasts, link information to a related site (TV link) is sometimes displayed. Registering TV links lets you connect to related sites later on. You can record video, audio, subtitles, and data broadcasts you are watching, and save them on a microSD card preformatted in T-01C format.

(In principle, you must erase the data yourself since DOCOMO is not responsible for the data in your FOMA terminal if it must be handed in for repair, etc.
ToruCa Calendar ToruCa is an electronic card that can be imported into mobile phones. It can be acquired from scanners or sites as information about stores or coupons, for example. Acquired ToruCa are saved in the "ToruCa" application, and can be displayed, searched and refreshed using the "ToruCa" application. ● For details on ToruCa, visit docomo market. Note Regular packet communication charges are sometimes incurred when acquiring, displaying or refreshing ToruCa.

When bringing your FOMA terminal in for repair, be sure to bring the warranty card. Even during the warranty period, a fee will be charged for repairs of malfunctions or damage caused by your improper handling (damage of LCD and connector), or when no warranty card is presented.
Using software update Do not remove the battery pack while the software update is in progress. Doing so might result in the update failing. ● Recharge the battery before updating the software.
Note If the software update could not be activated at the auto-update time, the (software update available) notification icon is displayed on the status bar. 2 Tap "OK" Your FOMA terminal restarts and the update starts.
