Your new Friedrich has been carefully engineered and manufactured to give you many years of dependable, efficient operation, maintaining a comfortable temperature and humidity level. Many extra features have been built into your unit to assure quiet operation, the greatest circulation of cool, dry air, and the most economic operation.
Filter Information The filter in your Friedrich removes dust, pollen and other impurities from the air as they are drawn through the unit. The filter is permanent and reusable, and has a germicidal treatment which is not affected by periodic washing. A clogged, dirty filter reduces the air flow through the unit and reduces its efficiency. You should check the filter every seven to ten days, depending on the amount your unit is used. Clean the filter regularly.

Unpacking The Unit STEP 1 Remove decorative plastic return air grille to a safe area away from the unit. STEP 2 Remove the installation hardware, wingboard and two (one lighter colored and one dark colored) gaskets from beside the unit, and place them in a safe area away from the unit. STEP 3 Remove the chassis retainer by removing the far right screw in the basepan (see Figure A); save this screw to reattach the chassis retainer after installation.
Shell (Cabinet) Preparation each end of the top angle (Item #5) with the top loops of the side angle. Install two (2) screws (Item #7) to secure the top angle tabs and the side angle to the rear-most holes in the side of the cabinet (See Figure B, below). It will be necessary to relocate the sill plate of the cabinet 2" back from its shipping position, and the shell guides 4" forward, to the forward-most hole in the shell rail. Discard the chassis retainer wire disconnected in Section II, Step 3.

STEP 1 Check the window sill and frame to be sure they are in good condition and firmly anchored to the wall. Repair if necessary. STEP 2 CABINET MOUNTING: Raise the lower window sash 1/4" more than the height of the cabinet.
NOTICE Shell Installation: Thick Wall The illustrations below show a standard frame construction installation as well as some suggested ways of adapting the support bracket to thick walls and large brick ledges. STEP 3 Slide the cabinet into the hole far enough to allow the guide-channel of the sill plate to contact the inside wall surface (See Figure O). STEP 4 Drill three (3) 5/32" diameter pilot holes through holes in sill-plate into the framing and install three (3) #12 x 2" long screws (Item #4) (See Figure O). NOTICE Instructions for mounting sleeve with slope must be observed to prevent entry of water into room. Potential property damage can occur if instructions are not followed.
Chassis Installation STEP 1 Slide the chassis into the cabinet stopping approximately 3" from full insertion. Stuff the chassis seal gasket (Item #14) one inch deep between the chassis and the cabinet (See Figure P). Begin at either bottom corner and go up the side, across the top, and down the opposite side. Make sure that the gasket is behind the conduit connector (furthest from you). Push the chassis into the shell the remaining distance so that the plastic front shrouds the front edge of the shell.
STEP 2 Be sure that the filter is in place then install the return air grille (See Figure Q). The top of the return air grille can be butted against the bottom of the discharge plenum. Snap the grille into place by pushing the grille up and onto the unit's latches at the bottom. (See Detail 4).

Desempaque de la unidad PASO 1 Remueva la rejilla a plástica decorativa y manténgala en un sitio seguro separada de la unidad. Preparación del armazón (gabinete) Será necesario volver a ubicar la placa del borde del armazón del gabinete 2" pulgadas (50 mm) más atrás de la posición en que se ha colocado para transportarse, y las guías de la armazón 4" pulgadas (100 mm) más adelante, hacia el hueco delantero en el carril de la armazón. Retire el alambre de retención del chasís desconectado en la Sección II, Paso 3.

PASO 3 Meta el gabinete en el hueco suficientemente como para permitir que el canal de guía de la placa del antepecho haga contacto con la superficie interior de la pared (Ver Figura O). PASO 4 Taladre tres (3) huecos piloto de un diámetro de 5/32" pulgada a través de los huecos de la placa del antepecho en el marco e instale tres (3) tornillos largos #12 x 2" (Elemento #4) (Ver Figura O).
Instalación Del Chasis PASO 1 Introduzca el chasís en el gabinete dejando un espacio de aproximadamente tres pulgadas por fuera. Meta la arandela de sello del chasís (Elemento #14) a una profundidad de 1" pulgada dentro del chasís y el gabinete (Vea la Figura P). Empiece en cualquiera de las esquinas de abajo y vaya hacia arriba por los lados, alrededor de la parte de arriba y nuevamente hacia abajo por el lado opuesto.
PASO 2 Asegúrese de que el filtro está en su lugar e instale la rejilla para retorno de aire. (Ver Figura Q). La parte superior de la rejilla de retorno de aire se puede colocar contra la parte inferior del distribuidor de descargue de aire.

Déballage De L’appareil ÉTAPE 1 Enlever la grille décorative en plastique de retour d’air et la mettre de côté. ÉTAPE 2 Enlever de sous l’appareil la quincaillerie d’installation, les panneaux latéraux et deux joints (une couleur plus claire et une couleur foncée) et les mettre de côté. ÉTAPE 3 Enlever Ia vis du dispositif de retenue du chassis sur l'extrême droite du plateau (consulter la Figure A) ; conserver la vis pour reposer le dispositif de retenue du châssis après I'installation.
Préparation De L’enveloppe Il faut reculer la plaque du seuil de l’enveloppe de 2" (50 mm) de la position d’expédition et avancer de 4" (100 mm) les guides de l’enveloppe, jusqu’au trou le plus avancé du guide d’enveloppe. Jeter le fil de retenue du châssis débranché dans la Section II, Étape 3. La patte d’installation du boîtier de branchement, Section VI, Étape 1, et le conduit sur le terrain installée conservera le châssis à la coquille.
Installation De L’enveloppe: Installation Dans Une Fenêtre À Guillotine ÉTAPE 1 Vérifier que le seuil et le cadre de la fenêtre sont en bon état et fermement ancrés dans le mur. Réparer si nécessaire. ÉTAPE 2 INSTALLATION DE L’ENVELOPPE - Lever la portion inférieure de la fenêtre d’un quart de pouce (6 mm) au-dessus de la hauteur de l’enveloppe.

ÉTAPE 3 Faire glisser l’enveloppe dans l’ouverture, assez loin pour permettre au guide de la plaque de seuil de faire contact sur la surface interne du mur (consulter la Figure O). Installation Du Châssis ÉTAPE 1 Glisser le châssis dans l’enveloppe jusqu’à environ 3 pouces (75 mm) du fond. Mettre le joint d’étanchéité du châssis (réf. 14) en place à un pouce (25 mm) entre le châssis et l’enveloppe (consulter la Figure P). Commencer dans un des coins, monter sur un côté, traverser en haut et descendre de l’autre côté. Vérifier que le joint est derrière le raccord du conduit (le plus loin).
ÉTAPE 2 Vérifier que le filtre est en place et installer la grille de retour d’air (consulter la Figure Q). Appuyer le haut de la grille de retour d’air contre le bas du plénum de décharge. Enfoncer la grille en place en la poussant vers le hautet dans les agrafes inférieures de l'appareil.
