1 Installation Mounting the base station The base station can be wall mounted using two screws set 59mm apart. The base station may be mounted upright (A), sideways (B) or on the ceiling (C). Caution: Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage your Fortinet equipment. Mounting the handset charger cradle The handset charger cradle can be wall mounted using two screws (not included) set 36mm apart. 8 FON D72 QSG V2.
Connecting the base station 1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Internet port on FON-D72-M and FON-D72-B. 2. Connect the bases to an IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE hub or switch. Installing the handset battery 1. Remove the back cover of the handset. 2. Properly insert the battery as illustrated in the image below. 3. 2 Setting up the Phone Using as an internal device The FON-D72 supports plug and play installation: 1. 2. 3. Configure the FON-D72 extensions on the FortiVoice. On the FON-D71-H handsets press the Reg softkey. The handsets will display their name and extension number on screen. Using as an external device 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Enter the IP address of the FON-D72-M into a web browser. Enter admin as the Username and 23646 as the Password. Go to Settings > Auto Provision.
3 Using the Base Station Item Description LAN LED Indicates the LAN connection status: • Solid green: successful connection to LAN. • Slow flashing green: no IP addresss available/assigned or no connection to LAN. • Off: no power. 2 ROLE LED Indicates the role of the base: • Orange: the role is DECT Manager. • Green: the role is Base. • Slow flashing orange: active calls on the DECT Manager.
4 Using the Handset Item Description 1 Earpiece Outputs audio during call. 2 Power indicator LED Indicates call status, message status and charging status. • Fast flashing red: receiving an incoming call. • Slow flashing red: new voicemail or missed call. • Solid red: battery charging. 3 LCD screen Displays information about calls, messages, softkeys, time, date and other relevant data. 4 Softkeys Softkey functions vary and will be displayed on the LCD screen.

5 Troubleshooting Symptom Corrective Action Display is blank Ensure that the phone is powered on and is charged. Phone not receiving a DHCP IP Address The DHCP server is not responding: 1. Ensure your DHCP server is online. This is typically your router. 2. Reboot the router or DHCP server. 3. If you are still experiencing issues, the phone may require advanced network configuration. Please contact your administrator or refer to the FON-D72 User Guide.

Handset Saftey and Certifications Important battery information Charge the battery with handset only in combination with FON-D71-H charger cradle and the power adapter that comes with the product. Plug the power adapter in a wall outlet socket near the equipment for easy access/removal of the AC/DC adapter. This product uses rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries 3.7V, 1460mAh. Only use batteries that come with the handset.
