Intended Use The EyeOn Air is a speech generation device intended to provide an individual who has a severe speech impairment with the ability to meet their functional speaking needs. The primary purpose of the EyeOn Air device is to provide synthesized speech through use of speech generating hardware and software. This device is generally not useful to an individual in the absence of an illness or injury.

Safety CAUTION When mounting the EyeOn Air device to a wheelchair, ensure that the unit is securely fastened. CAUTION The EyeOn Air device uses a Li-ion battery. Do not dispose of the battery in the garbage when replacing. EyeTech uses a third party agent for battery disposal. Go to https://www.call2recycle.org/start-recycling/ and follow the directions listed there. CAUTION Avoid exposing the EyeOn Air device to areas of extreme temperature.
What’s in the Box? Each EyeOn Air device is shipped with the following components: Quantity Description 1 EyeOn Air Tablet Device (Including Eye Tracking) 1 Speech Generating Software (installed) 1 Ruggedized Case 1 Universal Power Cord First Use • Connect the supplied power adapter between the Power Input (6) on the EyeOn Air device and the power supply.
• The battery indicator light will appear orange while the EyeOn Air device is charging. After the EyeOn Air device is fully charged, the battery indicator light will appear green. Battery Indicator Light • Start the device by pressing the EyeOn Power Button (9) down for three seconds.
On/Off To turn on the EyeOn Air device: • Press the EyeOn Power Button (9) for three seconds. Select the ‘Power off’ option. 9 – Power Button Restarting To restart the EyeOn Air device: • Press the EyeOn Power Button for three seconds. Select the ‘Restart’ option.
Charging The amount of time the device can be used without needing to charge depends greatly on how you use it. To preserve the longevity between charges, we recommend setting the sleep mode to five (5) minutes, to allow the EyeOn Air device to revert to sleep mode when inactive. If the EyeOn Air device is used on a frequent basis, it is recommended to recharge on a daily basis. The device can be used while it’s charging.
Storage To properly store the EyeOn Air device: • Ensure that the device is properly powered down (follow instructions on page 13). • The device should not be in sleep mode for storage.
The EyeOn Air device comes equipped with a touch screen and built-in eye tracker to create voice messages. Additional USB based input devices can also be purchased independently to operate the EyeOn Air, such as: mouse, keyboard, or switches. Message Formulation & Speech Generation The EyeOn Air device is equipped with speech generating software that provides multiple methods of message formulation through use of letters, words, pictures, and symbols. The EyeOn Air device audibly generates words and phrases when an individual selects either letters, words, pictures, or symbols through one of the multiple methods of device access.
Troubleshooting & Repairs The EyeOn Air device includes a two year return-to-depot warranty. To submit a warranty claim, please send an email to support@eyetechds.com including your name, phone number, serial number of the device, and description of the issue. An EyeTech team member will contact you within 24 hours to troubleshoot over the phone. If EyeTech determines that a repair is necessary, you will be responsible for shipping the device to EyeTech’s repair depot.
