U “Specifications Table” on page 163 ❏ Store the printer after confirming that the print head has been capped (the print head is positioned at the far right). If the print head is left uncapped for a long time, the print quality may decline.

Leave ink cartridges in all slots even while you do not use the printer. ❏ Handle roll paper by holding the edges. We recommend wearing cotton gloves. ❏ Cut sheets may be wavy or slack if the temperature and humidity change. Be careful not to scratch or soil the paper, and flatten it before loading it in the printer.
Epson Stylus Pro 4900/4910 User's Guide Introduction Tip: Typically, print outs and photos fade over time (color distortion) due to the effects of light and various constituents in the air. This also applies to Epson special media. However, with the correct storage method, the degree of color distortion can be minimized. ❏ See the manuals supplied with Epson special media for detailed information on handling the paper after printing.

A B Install the attachment on both flanges. Align the u marks on the flange and attachment, and then push firmly until you hear the hooks click into place. Remove the attachment from both flanges. Press the hooks (two points) out to release the hooks, and then pull the attachment out of the flange.

B Check the paper source settings. Hold the outer edge of the spacer and pull it straight off. Note: When removing the roll paper, do not knock the right side of the spindle (the gray flange side) hard against the floor. If the roll paper is not rewound, the spindle may be locked. If you try to remove the spindle when it is locked, the printer could be damaged. The right side of the spindle may be damaged by the impact.

B Front manual feed (loading thick paper) You can load thick paper with the following speci‐ fications from the front feeder. However, you cannot feed from the front feeder when the optional Spec‐ troProofer is installed.

Therefore, make sure the following space is secured. If the printer is set up near a wall, make sure there is enough space at the rear. F Fan the paper you want to load three times on each side before loading. When loading A3 or smaller paper, go to step 5 because the paper cassette does not need to be extended. Whether or not the paper cassette is extended, the procedure for loading paper after step 5 is the same.

J Attach the output tray. K Extend output tray to suit the paper size and raise the flap. Push it firmly into the printer. If paper is loaded above the edge guide mark (d), paper cannot be fed correctly. The maximum number of sheets you can load in the paper cassette differs depending on the paper type.

For super A3 or larger Slide out the second and third extensions of the output tray, and then raise the flap. Note: The output tray can only hold one piece of thick paper at a time. Remove each sheet of thick paper as it is ejected without letting the sheets stack up on the output tray. Tip: If the paper eject support is raised, lower it before printing. How to eject Thick paper is held by the paper presser after printing. Follow the steps below to eject paper.

Top 35/Bottom 15mm A = 35 mm C = 15 mm If the margin set in an application is larger than the following setting values, sections beyond the specified margins are not printed.

Changing the Type of Black Ink The default value for the bottom margin is 17 mm when printing borderless on the left and right. This printer allows you to set both photo black ink and matte black ink and switch between them depending on the paper type. Photo Black ink reduces the grainy feeling of photo papers giving them a smooth, professional finish.
Epson Stylus Pro 4900/4910 User's Guide Basic Operations Mac OS X Changing from the printer driver Normally, the required type of black ink is specified from the printer's Ink Menu. However, when printing on paper that is compatible with both types of black ink, you can perform the following procedure to automatically switch the type of black ink from the printer driver.

Turning Off the Power Using Power Management At the factory setting, the printer turns off automatically when there are no errors, no print jobs being received, and no control panel or other operations are performed for eight hours. You can change Power Management settings from the Maintenance Mode menu.

There are a few ways to stop printing operations depending on the situation. When the computer has finished sending data to the printer, you cannot cancel the print job from the computer. Nozzle Check This function prints a nozzle check pattern to check if the print head nozzles are clogged.

You can print black and white photos with rich gradation by adjusting the image data color by the printer driver. The original data is not affected. You can correct image data when printing without processing the data from applications. Tip: It is recommended that you use images with a color space of sRGB.
