Your Ink Tank System You should visually check the ink levels in the product's ink tanks regularly. For optimum printing results, refill the ink tanks to the upper line at least once a year. Note: The product has a low ink alert system. The accuracy of this system depends on the user refilling the ink tanks correctly. The product cannot directly measure the ink levels in the tanks; instead it estimates the amount of ink remaining by internally monitoring ink usage.

You can adjust the time period before power management begins, but increasing the time reduces the product's energy efficiency.
Changing the Power Off Timer Setting from the Control Panel You can use the product's control panel to change the time period before the printer turns off automatically. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Settings and press the OK button. 3. Select Printer Setup and press the OK button. 4. Using Epson Email Print With Epson Email Print, you can print from any device that can send email, such as your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Just activate your product's unique email address. When you want to print, attach a PDF, Microsoft Office document, or photo to an email and send it to your product. Both the email and the attachments will print automatically. 1. Using Epson Print and Scan App with Windows Tablets You can use this free app to print photos and scan from your Windows (Windows 8 or higher) Surface RT or Pro tablet with networked Epson products. Epson Print and Scan App allows you to scan and capture images right to your tablet or to Microsoft OneDrive. Note: The Epson Print and Scan App does not support Windows 10 Mobile printing. 1. Wi-Fi Infrastructure Mode Setup You can set up your product to communicate with your computer using a wireless router or access point. The wireless router or access point can be connected to your computer over a wireless or wired network.
Selecting Wireless Network Settings from the Control Panel You can select or change wireless network settings using your product control panel. To install your product on a wireless network, follow the instructions on the Start Here sheet and install the necessary software. The installer program guides you through network setup. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 3. Press the OK button to select Wi-Fi (Recommended). 4.
7. Enter your wireless password (or network name and then password). • Press the arrow buttons to highlight a character or a function button displayed on the keypad. Then press the OK button to select it. • To change the case of letters or select symbols, select AB12 (uppercase), ab12 (lowercase), or Symbol and press the OK button. Then highlight a number or symbol and press the OK button to select it. • To enter a space, select Space and press the OK button.
Wi-Fi Direct Mode Setup You can set up your product to communicate directly with your computer or another device without requiring a wireless router or access point. 1 Epson product 2 Computer with a wireless interface 3 Other wireless device Your product enters access point mode and the product itself acts as the network access point for up to 4 devices. When operating in this mode, your product displays the Wi-Fi Direct connection symbol on the LCD screen.
3. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Direct and press the OK button. 4. Press the OK button. 5. Press the OK button again. 6. Press the OK button to confirm the Wi-Fi settings. You see the connection symbol on the LCD screen and should be able to connect to your product directly from your computer or device, and then print.
Changing the Wi-Fi Direct Mode Password You can change the Wi-Fi Direct Mode password from the product's control panel. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 3. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Direct and press the OK button. 4. Press the OK button. 5. Press the OK button again. 6. Press the right arrow button to select Modify.
• To change the case of letters or select symbols, select AB12 (uppercase), ab12 (lowercase), or Symbol and press the OK button. Select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 5. Select Push Button Setup (WPS) and press the OK button. 6.

Disabling Wi-Fi Features Parent topic: Wi-Fi or Wired Networking Accessing the Web Config Utility You can select your product's network settings and confirm its operating status using a web browser. You do this by accessing your product's built-in Web Config utility from a computer or other device that is connected to the same network as your product. 1. Print a network status sheet. 2. Locate the IP address for your product that is listed on the network status sheet. 3.
2. Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable to the product's LAN port. 3. Connect the other end to any available LAN port on your router or access point. 4. Uninstall your product software. 5. Download and install your product software from the Epson website. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. 7. When you see the Select Your Connection screen, select Wired network connection. 8. If you see a Select Setup Option screen, select Set up printer for the first time. 9.
Note: Before disabling Wi-Fi features, make a note of your product's SSID (network name) and password, and any network settings selected for the Epson Connect services you may use. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Settings and press the OK button. 3. Select Network Settings and press the OK button. 4. Loading Paper Before you print, load paper for the type of printing you will do.
Note: As you slide in the output tray, there may be slight resistance and noise. This is normal. 2. Raise the control panel. 3. Open the front cover. 4. Pull out the upper paper cassette. The upper cassette is labeled as shown.
Note: If the cassette is too far inside the product to reach, turn off your product and turn it back on again to reset the cassette's position. 5. Slide the edge guides outward. 6. Set the front edge guide to the position for the paper size you are using. 7. Insert paper in the cassette with the glossy or printable side facedown.
Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and does not extend beyond the triangle symbol at the rear of the cassette. 8. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper fits under the tabs on the edge guides.
9. Keeping the cassette flat, insert it into your product until the arrow marks on the tray and product line up. 10. Lower the control panel and pull out the output tray. 11. Select the size and type of paper you just loaded on the product LCD screen. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side facedown.

10. Lower the control panel and pull out the output tray. 11. Select the size and type of paper you just loaded on the product LCD screen. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side down. • Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides and not sticking out from the end of the cassette.

4. Open the rear paper feed slot cover. 5. Extend the rear paper feed support and then tilt it backwards.
6. Slide out the edge guides. 7. Do one of the following: • Load paper with the printable side faceup at the center of the rear paper feed slot.
• Load envelopes short edge first with the flap facing down and the flap edge to the left at the center of the rear paper feed slot. 8. Slide the edge guides against the paper or envelopes, but not too tightly. 9. Confirm the paper size and type displayed on the LCD screen and make any changes, if necessary. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Do not load more than the maximum number of sheets or envelopes specified for the paper type.
• Load letterhead or pre-printed paper top edge first. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions. Note: You can load a sheet of binder paper with holes on one of the long edges, but not for automatic 2sided printing.

Printing from a Computer Before printing from your computer, make sure you have set up your product and installed its software as described on the Start Here sheet. Note: If you have an Internet connection, it is a good idea to check for updates to your product software on Epson's support website. If you see a Software Update screen, select Enable automatic checking and click OK. The update scans your system to see if you have the latest product software. Follow the on-screen instructions.
1. Open a photo or document for printing. 2. Select the print command in your application. Note: You may need to select a print icon on your screen, the Print option in the File menu, or another command. See your application's help utility for details. 3. If necessary, select your product name as the printer you want to use. Note: You may also need to select Properties or Preferences to view your print settings. Selecting Additional Layout and Print Options - Windows You can select a variety of additional layout and printing options for your document or photo on the More Options tab. 1. To change the size of your printed document or photo, select the Reduce/Enlarge Document checkbox and select one of these sizing options: • Select the Fit to Page option to size your image to fit the paper you loaded.
• Select Custom and click the Advanced button to manually adjust the color correction settings or turn off color management in your printer software. • Select Image Options to access additional settings for improving printed images. Note: You can also select Color Universal Print settings. 3.
Custom Color Correction Options - Windows You can select any of the available options in the Color Correction window to customize the image colors for your print job. Color Controls Lets you select a Color Mode setting, individual settings for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Density, and individual color tones. Depending on the selected color mode, you can also adjust the midtone density using the Gamma setting. Fix Photo Improves the color, contrast, and sharpness of flawed photos.
ICM Lets you manage color using installed color printing profiles. No Color Adjustment Turns off color management in your printer software so you can manage color using only your application software. Separator Page Before each document, prints a separator page containing the title, user, date, and time. Always Spool RAW Datatype Increases print speed and may solve other printing problems. Page Rendering Mode Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing. Print as Bitmap Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing, and other settings do not help.

Checking Print Status - Windows During printing, you see this window showing the progress of your print job. Expansion If you selected a borderless paper size setting, this option adjusts the image expansion settings to control printing at the edges of borderless prints. Grayscale Prints text and graphics in black or shades of gray. Mirror Image Lets you flip the printed image horizontally.

Two-sided Printing Options Long-Edge binding Orients double-sided printed pages to be bound on the long edge of the paper. Short-Edge binding Orients double-sided printed pages to be bound on the short edge of the paper. Adjustments Print Density Sets the level of ink coverage for double-sided printing. Increased Ink Drying Time Sets the amount of time required for drying ink after printing on one side of the paper before printing the other side in double-sided printing.

Warning Notifications Lets you choose whether or not to receive warning notifications from the printer software for various operating conditions. Viewing or Printing from a USB Flash Drive or External Device You can view and print photos from a USB flash drive or other external USB device, such as an external hard drive or CD/DVD burner. Note: Make sure the files on your device are compatible with the product.

Note: If you are using discs where the printable area extends to within 0.16 inch (4 mm) of the center hole, you may need to adjust the inner diameter setting using the control panel or Epson Print CD software. 1. Burn your files, music, or video onto your disc before printing on it. 2. Press the home button, if necessary. 3. Press the CD button, select Load CD/DVD, and press the OK button. 4. When you see a message asking if you want to prepare for CD loading, select Yes and press the OK button. 5.
8. Remove the CD/DVD tray from the bottom of the product. 9. Place a CD or DVD on the CD/DVD tray with the printable side faceup, and insert the tray into the slot above the output tray. Refilling Ink When the ink level is below the lower line on an ink tank, you need to refill it. Before checking the ink level or refilling an ink tank as described here, be sure to read the ink safety precautions. Caution: If the ink level is below the lower line on the ink tank, fill it to the upper line on the ink tank. Continued use of the product when the ink level is below the lower line on the tank could damage the product.
Ink Refilling Precautions • Use ink bottles with the correct part number for this product. • Do not mix with other Epson ink types. • The use of non-Epson ink may cause damage that is not covered by Epson’s warranty, and under certain circumstances, may cause erratic product behavior. • This product requires careful handling of ink. Ink may splatter when the ink tanks are filled or refilled with ink. If ink gets on your clothes or belongings, it may not come off.

You can continue to use the product even if one or more ink tanks are not filled all the way. However, for the most accurate ink level monitoring, fill all the ink tanks up to the top line. The product cannot directly measure the ink levels in the tanks; instead it estimates the amount of ink remaining by internally monitoring ink usage.
3. Open the ink tank cover, then open the cap for the ink tank you are going to fill. 4. Hold the ink bottle upright and slowly turn the bottle cap to remove it. Caution: Do not shake or squeeze the bottle. Do not touch the top of the bottle after its cap is removed. Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out immediately. Seek medical advice if problems persist.
5. Position the top of the ink bottle along the slot in front of the filling port, then slowly stand the bottle up to insert it. Note: Refer to the color-coded sticker on the ink tank unit to identify the color of each tank. Do not force the bottles into position; they are keyed for each color.
6. Wait for the ink to fill the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle. Ink flows into the tank and stops automatically when the ink is filled to the upper line. Note: If ink does not flow from the bottle, lift and reinsert the bottle.
7. When the ink tank is full, remove the ink bottle and securely close the ink tank cap. Note: If any ink remains in the bottle, replace the bottle cap and tighten it. Store the bottle upright for later use. 8. Repeat the previous steps as necessary for each ink tank you need to refill. 9. Close the ink tank cover, then close the scanner unit. 10. Press the OK button on the product control panel to proceed. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the ink level for the color you refilled.
Replacing the Maintenance Box Make sure you have a new maintenance box before you begin. Caution: Do not reuse a maintenance box that has been removed and left uninstalled for more than a week. Keep the maintenance box away from direct sunlight. 1. Remove the new maintenance box from its package. Caution: Do not touch the green chip on the maintenance box. Doing so may prevent normal operation and printing. 2.
3. Remove the used maintenance box. Note: Do not tilt the used maintenance box or take it apart. Caution: Do not touch the areas shown below on the maintenance box; otherwise, ink may leak. Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out immediately. Keep the maintenance box out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink.
4. Place the used maintenance box in the plastic bag that came with the new maintenance box. Seal the bag and dispose of it carefully. 5. Insert the new maintenance box and push it all the way in. 6. Reattach the maintenance box cover and tighten the screw. 7. Press the OK button on the product control panel to resume operation.

Adjusting Print Quality If your print quality declines, you may need to run a utility to clean or align the print head. If running these utilities does not solve the problem, you may need to run a Power Cleaning or clean the paper or printer head path.

Caution: Do not use a hard brush, alcohol, or paint thinner to clean the product or you may damage it.
Caution: During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines: • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak. • When storing or transporting an opened ink bottle, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely.
6. Secure the print head to the case with tape. Caution: Do not place tape on the white flat cable inside the product; otherwise, you may damage your product. 7. Open the ink tank cover. Make sure the ink tap caps are securely closed and close the ink tank cover.
8. Lower the scanner unit. 9. Close the rear paper feed support and rear paper feed cover. Close the output tray and the front cover, then lower the control panel. 10. Place the product in its original packaging materials, if possible, or use equivalent cushioning around the product. Be sure to remove the tape from the print head before turning on your product. If print quality has declined when you print again, clean and align the print head.

Note: Higher resolution settings result in larger file sizes, which take longer to process and print.
• Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors. However, you can use a color management system to get as close as possible. Try using the color management options in your printer software. • For best results, use genuine Epson ink and paper. • If you have not used the product for a long time, run the Power Cleaning utility. • Make sure your computer is not running in a power-saving mode, such as sleep or standby.
