Using the LCD Screen 1 Displays the screen name 2 Displays network status; tap the icons to check the current status 3 Tap the arrows to display other features or menus To view a list of the icons and a description of their use, select Help > Icon List. Parent topic: Using the Control Panel Adjusting Control Panel Position You can adjust the position of the control panel to make it easier to access. Raise or lower it to the desired angle as shown.
Note: The control panel rises and the output tray slides out automatically when printing starts. Parent topic: Using the Control Panel Changing LCD Screen Language You can change the language used on the LCD screen. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Select Setup. 3. Scroll down and select Basic Setup. 4. Select Language. 5. Select a language. 6. Press the home button to exit.

Turning On Quiet Mode You can reduce the noise the product makes by turning on the Quiet Mode option. Note: Turning on this setting may reduce print speed. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Parent topic: Product Parts Locations The Power Off and Sleep Timers The product enters sleep mode or turns off automatically if it is not used for a period of time. You can adjust the time period before power management, but increasing the time reduces the product's energy efficiency.
You see this screen: 5. Press the up or down arrow button to select the length of time after which you want the product to automatically turn off when it is not in use. 6. Changing the Power and Sleep Timer Settings - Windows You can use the printer software to change the time period before the product enters sleep mode or turns off automatically. 1. Make sure your product is turned on. 2. Access the Windows Desktop and right-click the product icon in the Windows taskbar. 3. Select Printer Settings. 4. Click the Maintenance tab. 5. Click the Printer and Option Information button. You see this screen: 6.
7. Click Send. 8. Select the time period you want before the product goes to sleep as the Sleep Timer setting. 9. Click Send. 10. Click OK to close the open program windows. Using the Epson iPrint Mobile App Use this free Apple and Android app to print to nearby Epson networked products. The Epson iPrint Mobile App lets you print PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, photos, and web pages over a wireless network. You can even scan and save a file on your device, send it as an email, or upload it to an online service such as Box, Dropbox, Evernote, or Google Drive. 1. Set up your product on a network. You see this screen: 5. Select Wi-Fi Setup Wizard. Note: If you need to disable the wireless network to set up your product on an Ethernet network, scroll down and select Disable Wi-Fi instead. Then follow the instructions on changing to a wired network connection in this guide. 6. Select the name of your wireless network or enter the name manually. Note: To enter the wireless network name manually, scroll down and then select Other Networks.
7. Enter your wireless password (or network name and then password) using the displayed keypad. Note: The network name and password are case sensitive. Be sure to correctly enter uppercase and lowercase letters, and numeric or special characters. • Press the touch screen buttons repeatedly to scroll through characters. • Press or to move the cursor. • Press 1 Symb. to enter symbols. • Press to delete the previous character. 8. Press Done when you finish entering your password. 9.
If the network connection is successful, a Wi-Fi antenna icon with blue connection bars is displayed in the Network area on the right-hand side of the LCD screen. 1 Epson product 2 Computer with a wireless interface 3 Other wireless device You can select one of these modes to communicate with your computer or device: Access point mode The product itself acts as the network access point for up to 4 devices. When operating in this mode, your product displays an AP connection symbol on the LCD screen. Peer-to-peer mode The product communicates one-to-one with another Wi-Fi Direct capable device.
You see this screen: 6. Select Connection Setup. 7. Select Change Password and select OK. Note: If you have already connected devices or computers to your product via Wi-Fi Direct, they will be disconnected when you change the password.
8. Enter your Wi-Fi Direct password. Note: Your password must be at least 8 and no more than 22 characters long. • Press the touch screen buttons repeatedly to scroll through characters. • Press or to move the cursor. • Press 1 Symb. to enter symbols. • Press to delete the previous character. 9. Press Done when you finish entering your password.
10. Scroll down to view the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) and password. 11. Use your computer or wireless device to select the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) displayed on the LCD screen, then enter the password shown. 12. Press the home button to exit. You see either an AP or Direct Wi-Fi symbol on the LCD screen and should be able to print directly to your product from your computer or device. Note: If the AP or Direct Wi-Fi symbol is not displayed on the LCD screen, Wi-Fi Direct mode is not enabled.

Wired Network Setup You can set up your product to communicate with your computer over a wired network by connecting it to the router or hub using an Ethernet cable.
Printing a Network Status Sheet You can print a network status sheet to help you determine the causes of any problems you may have using your product on a network. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Select Network. 3. Select See Connection Details. 4. Select Details. 5. Scroll down and select Print Status Sheet. 6. Press the Start button to print the network status sheet. (Select Cancel if you want to cancel the operation.
3. On a computer or other device connected to the same network as your product, open a web browser. 4. Enter your product's IP address into the address bar. You see the available Web Config utility options. Parent topic: Changing or Updating Network Connections Changing a USB Connection to a Wi-Fi Connection If you have already connected your product to your computer using a USB connection, you can change to a Wi-Fi connection. 1. Disconnect the USB cable from your product. 2.
Connecting to a New Wi-Fi Router If you change the wireless router you have been using on your network, you need to update your product's Wi-Fi connection to the new router. Note: If you switch to a 5 GHz wireless router, set the router to operate in dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) mode. See your router documentation for instructions. 1. Do one of the following: • Windows: Uninstall your product software. • OS X: Go to the next step. 2.

Loading Paper Before you print, load paper for the type of printing you will do.
Note: If you slide in the output tray by hand, there may be slight resistance and noise. This is normal. 2. Open the front cover. 3. Pull out the upper paper cassette. (The upper cassette has a label on the right side.) Note: If the cassette is too far inside the product to reach, turn the product off and on again. 4. Slide the edge guides outward.
5. Set the front edge guide to the position for the paper size you are using. Note: Various paper sizes are marked on the tray. 6. Insert paper with the glossy or printable side facedown. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and not sticking out from the end of the cassette. 7. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides.
8. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it until the left and right arrow marks on the tray and product line up. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected. Do not remove or insert the paper cassette while the product is operating. 9. If prompted by the product's LCD screen, select the size and type of the paper you loaded, and select Done.
Loading Paper in the Rear Paper Feed Slot Loading Envelopes Loading Paper in Cassette 2 (Lower Cassette) You can load paper up to this size in the lower paper cassette: Legal (8.5 × 14 inches [216 × 356 mm]). Note: Do not remove or insert the paper cassette while the product is operating. 1. Close the output tray by pressing the Output Tray button or by hand, if necessary. Note: As you slide in the output tray, there may be slight resistance and noise. This is normal. 2. Open the front cover.
3. Pull on the front cover to remove the lower paper cassette. 4. Slide the edge guides outward. Note: If you are using legal-size paper, remove the CD/DVD tray from under the lower cassette. Press the button on the lower cassette and extend it as shown.
5. Set the front edge guide to the paper size you are using. Note: Various paper sizes are marked on the tray. 6. Insert paper with the glossy or printable side down. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and not sticking out from the end of the cassette.
7. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides. 8. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected. Do not remove or insert the paper cassette while the product is operating. 9. If prompted by the product's LCD screen, select the size and type of the paper you loaded, and select Done.
• Load paper short edge first and printable side facedown. • Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides and not sticking out from the end of the cassette. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.
2. Flip open the rear paper feed slot cover. 3. Fully extend the paper support and tilt it back, as shown.
4. Slide the edge guides outward. 5. Do one of the following: • Load a single sheet of paper or thick media, printable side up and short edge first, in the center of the rear paper feed slot until you hear a beep. Slide the edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: If the Button Press setting is turned off, you will not hear a beep when inserting paper.
• Load an envelope, short edge first with the flap facing down and to the left, in the center of the rear paper feed slot until you hear a beep. Slide the edge guides against the envelope, but not too tightly. 6. When you are ready to print, press the Start button. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected. To cancel printing, select Cancel. 7.
• Be careful not to insert paper too far or not far enough. Feed about 2 inches (5 cm) of paper into the printer as shown. 1 2 inches (5 cm) • Do not insert paper at an angle or the paper may jam or wrinkle.
• You can load hole-punched paper with holes on either side, but you may need to adjust the margins in your print file to avoid printing over the holes. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.

Slide the edge guides against the envelopes, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the envelopes are under the tabs on the edge guides.
7. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected. Do not remove or insert the paper cassette while the product is operating. 8. If prompted by the product's LCD screen, select the size and type of the envelope you loaded, and select Done.

Printing on Thick Paper If ink smears when you print on thick paper, you can select the Thick Paper setting to improve print quality. Printing is slower with this setting. 1. Placing Originals on the Product Follow the instructions here to place your original documents or photos on the product. Caution: Do not place anything on top of your product or use its cover as a writing surface to avoid damaging it. Placing Originals on the Scanner Glass Placing Originals on the Scanner Glass You can place originals up to this size on the scanner glass: Letter (8.5 × 11 inches [216 × 279 mm]) or A4 (8.3 × 11.7 inches [210 × 297 mm]). 1. Open the document cover.
2. Place your original facedown on the scanner glass with the top of the original facing into the corner shown. Slide the original to the edges of the indicated corner. Note: You can place multiple originals on the scanner glass. Just make sure they are at least 0.20 inch (5 mm) away from each other and from the edge of the scanner glass.
3. If you are copying two book pages onto one sheet, place the book as shown to copy the first page, then turn the book as shown to copy the second page. 4. Close the document cover gently to keep your original in place.
Copying See the information here to copy documents or photos using your product. Note: Copies may not be exactly the same size as your originals. Copying Documents or Photos Copying and Restoring Photos Related tasks Copying onto a CD/DVD Copying Documents or Photos You can copy documents or photos onto various sizes and types of paper, including Epson special papers. 1. Place your original document or photo on the scanner glass. 2. Load the paper you want to print on.
5. To print more than one copy, press the + or – button to select the number (up to 99). 6. Select Color or B&W. 7. Scroll down to view and change additional copy settings, if necessary. 8. When you are ready to copy, press the Start button. Note: To cancel copying, select Cancel.

Copying and Restoring Photos You can restore the colors in faded photos as you copy them. 1. Load photo paper in the product. 2. Press the home button, if necessary. 3. Select More Functions. 4. Select Copy/Restore Photos. 5. Select On. 6. Place up to two original photos on the product. Note: View the LCD screen for instructions on placing your photos on the product. 7. Press the Start button. 8. Press the + or – button to select one or more copies of the photo (up to 99). 9.
• To crop or zoom into your photo, select Edit > Crop/Zoom and press the icons displayed on the LCD screen to crop your image. 11. When you are ready to print, press the Start button. Note: To cancel copying, select Cancel.
Printing from a Computer Before printing from your computer, make sure you have set up your product and installed its software as described on the Start Here sheet. Note: If you have an Internet connection, it is a good idea to check for updates to your product software on Epson's support website. If you see a Software Update screen, select Enable automatic checking and click OK. The update scans your system to see if you have the latest product software. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. If necessary, select your product name as the printer you want to use. Note: You may also need to select Properties or Preferences to view your print settings. You see the Main tab of your printer settings window: 4. For the Paper Source setting, select where you loaded the paper you want to print on. 5. Select the size of the paper you loaded as the Document Size setting.
6. If you are printing a borderless photo, select Borderless. You can click Settings to access additional options for borderless printing. Note: You must select a compatible borderless paper type and size to print without borders. Check the borderless paper compatibility list for details. 7. Select the orientation of your document. Note: If you are printing an envelope, select Landscape. 8. Select the type of paper you loaded as the Paper Type setting.

Selecting Additional Layout and Print Options - Windows You can select a variety of additional layout and printing options for your document or photo on the More Options tab. 1. To change the size of your printed document or photo, select the Reduce/Enlarge Document checkbox and select one of these sizing options: • Select the Fit to Page option to size your image to fit the paper you loaded.
• Select Custom and click the Advanced button to manually adjust the color correction settings or turn off color management in your printer software. • Select Image Options to access additional settings for improving printed images. Note: You can also select Color Universal Print settings. 3. To add the following features, click the Watermark Features button: • Watermark: adds a visible watermark to your printout.
Custom Color Correction Options - Windows You can select any of the available options in the Color Correction window to customize the image colors for your print job. Color Controls Lets you select a Color Mode setting, individual settings for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Density, and individual color tones. Depending on the selected color mode, you can also adjust the midtone density using the Gamma setting. Fix Photo Improves the color, contrast, and sharpness of flawed photos.
ICM Lets you manage color using installed color printing profiles. No Color Adjustment Turns off color management in your printer software so you can manage color using only your application software. Separator Page Before each document, prints a separator page containing the title, user, date, and time. Always Spool RAW Datatype Increases print speed and may solve other printing problems. Page Rendering Mode Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing. Print as Bitmap Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing, and other settings do not help.

Checking Print Status - Windows During printing, you see this window showing the progress of your print job. Expansion If you selected a borderless paper size setting, this option adjusts the image expansion settings to control printing at the edges of borderless prints. Note: If you select the Min option for the Expansion setting, you may see white borders on your printed photo.

Starting a Scan from a Scanning Program You can start Epson Scan from a TWAIN-compliant scanning program to select scan settings, scan, and open the scanned image in the program. 1. Open your scanning program and select its scanning option. (See your scanning program help for instructions.

Selecting a Scan Area - Home Mode You can select a specific area in your preview image to include in your scanned image. You can select the entire image area or a portion of it. You can even select multiple scan areas to create multiple scanned images of different areas (Normal Preview mode only). You can also use the scan area to select specific Image Adjustments settings for a scanned image. Just be sure to click inside the scan area before selecting the settings.
1. Do one of the following to select your scan area in the Preview image: • Thumbnail preview: Your scan area is selected automatically, but you can change it. Place your cursor in one corner of the desired scan area, then click and drag the cursor to the opposite corner to create a marquee (dotted line) on the preview image.

(OS X) icon next to the Target Size setting • Scale: Reduces or enlarges your image by the percentage you enter. • Trimming: Turns automatic image cropping on or off. • Unlock icon: Unlocks the width/height proportions of the scanned image size so you can adjust it without constraint.
If you will enlarge the image using Epson Scan's Target Size setting, you do not need to increase the Resolution setting. • You will scan the image at its original size but enlarge it later in an image-editing program. Increase Epson Scan's Resolution setting in your scan. Increase the resolution by the same amount you will increase the image size to retain a high image quality.
Selecting Scan File Settings You can select the location, name, and format of your scan file on the File Save Settings window. You can also select various optional settings that control how Epson Scan behaves when you scan and save files. The File Save Settings window may appear after you click Scan on the Epson Scan window. You may also be able to access the window by clicking the icon on the Epson Scan window. 1.
• Click the Other button, click the Browse or Choose button, and select a folder. 2. Type in a file name in the Prefix field. This name is used along with numbers to automatically name your scanned files. 3. Select a different number as the Start Number setting, if you like. 4. Select the file format you want to use in the Image Format Type menu. 5. If your file format provides optional settings, click the Options button to select them. 6.
TIFF (*.tif) A file format created for exchanging data between many programs, such as graphic and DTP software. Printing Photo Layouts from a Memory Card You can print one or more photos from a memory card in special layouts on various sizes of photo paper. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Note: If you are using discs where the printable area extends to within 0.16 inch (4 mm) of the center hole, you may need to adjust the inner diameter setting using the control panel or Epson Print CD software. 1. Burn your files, music, or video onto your disc before printing on it. 2. Send print data from a computer, or use the control panel to print on the CD/DVD, and follow the onscreen instructions. 3. Raise the control panel all the way up. 4. Make sure nothing is on the output tray, then close it.
6. Remove the CD/DVD tray from the bottom of the product. 7. Place a CD or DVD on the CD/DVD tray with the printable side faceup, and insert the tray into the slot above the output tray. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out and see a doctor right away.
6. Remove the new ink cartridge from the package. Caution: Do not shake the cartridges after opening the packages, or ink may leak. Do not touch the areas shown above. Doing so may prevent normal operation and printing. 7. Remove the cap from the cartridge and store it for later use. Note: Save the cap so you can recap ink cartridges before storing or disposing of them. Caution: Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.
8. Insert the ink cartridge head first into the ink cartridge holder. Then press the bottom of the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place. 9. Once you replace all the cartridges that need replacing, close the scanner unit. The product starts charging the ink. This takes a few minutes. When you see a completion message on the LCD screen, ink replacement is complete. Note: Do not turn off the product while it is charging or you will waste ink.

Adjusting Print Quality If your print quality declines, you may need to run a utility to clean or align the print head. Cannot Scan Over a Network Parent topic: Solving Problems Related tasks Printing a Network Status Sheet Product Cannot Connect to a Wireless Router or Access Point If your product has trouble finding or connecting to a wireless router or access point, try these solutions: • If you are connecting the product via Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and the Wi-Fi icon on your product's LCD screen is not lit or does not appear, make sure you select one of the WPS options from the product control panel within 2 minutes
• If you connected your product to a Windows computer using Wi-Fi Direct and it automatically selected Access Point Mode, you may have trouble accessing a low-priority Internet connection. Check the network connection or adapter settings in the Windows Control Panel and set the Internet metric setting to 100 for your version of the Internet Protocol.

Product Makes Noise, But Nothing Copies If your product makes a noise, but nothing copies, try these solutions: • Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. • If the nozzle check page does not print, but the product's power is on, make sure your product software is installed correctly. • Make sure your product is level (not tilted).
• If paper jams when you print on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets. • For best results, follow these guidelines: • Use new, smooth, high-quality paper that is not curled, creased, old, too thin, or too thick. • Load paper in the cassette printable side down. • Follow any special loading instructions that came with the paper.
3. Lift the scanner unit and remove any jammed paper inside. Caution: Do not touch the flat white cable inside the printer. 4. Close the scanner unit. 5. Follow the prompts on the LCD screen to clear any error messages. If you still see a paper jam message, check the other paper jam solutions.
Paper Jam Problems in the Paper Cassette If you see a message that paper has jammed in the paper cassette, follow the steps here or on the LCD screen to clear the jam. 1. Cancel the print job, if necessary. 2. Pull out both paper cassettes, then carefully remove any jammed paper. 3. Make sure the paper you loaded is under the edge guides. 4. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it. If inserting Cassette 1 (upper cassette), insert it until the arrows on the right side line up. 5.

Paper Ejection Problems If you have problems with paper ejecting properly, try these solutions: • If paper does not eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Cancel printing to eject the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint. • If paper is wrinkled when it ejects, it may be damp or too thin. Load new paper and be sure to select the correct paper type setting when you reprint.
• Run a product check to see if a test page prints. If the test page prints, check to see if your product software is installed correctly. • In Windows, make sure your product is selected as the default printer. • In Windows, clear any stalled print jobs from the Windows Spooler: • Windows 8.x: Navigate to the Apps screen and select Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Right-click your product name, select See what's printing, and select your product name again if necessary.
