POWER SOURCES AC: Unwind the AC cord and extend it to its full length. Insert the small end of the AC cord into the AC socket on the side of the unit. AC Outlet Insert the other end of the AC cord into any convenient 120V AC, 60Hz household outlet. NOTE: The AC plug supplied with the unit is AC Plug polarized to help minimize the possibility of electric shock. If the AC plug does not fit into a nonpolarized AC outlet, do not file or cut the wide blade.

OPERATION (CONTINUED) RADIO OPERATION 1 2 Slide the Function switch to the RADIO position to turn the unit on and select the RADIO mode. Slide the BAND switch to the AM, FM or FM STEREO position. 3 4 Rotate the TUNING control to select a station. Adjust the VOLUME control as desired. 5 ANTENNAS AM–This unit has a built-in ferrite rod antenna, which provides adequate reception in most areas. If reception is weak, turn the unit to improve reception.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) PLAYING COMPACT DISCS NORMAL PLAYBACK 1 2 Slide the Function switch to the CD position to turn the unit on and select the CD mode. Press the OPEN/CLOSE area to open the CD compartment door. Place a CD on the center spindle, with the printed label side facing up. Close the CD compartment door. 3 4 The CD player will read the table of contents on the disc and the total number of tracks will appear in the display.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) 5 6 Adjust the VOLUME control as desired. Playback will continue until all the tracks on the disc have been played. To stop playback before the disc ends, press the STOP (■) button. The disc will stop and the display will show the total number of tracks on the disc. 7 8 After the last track has been played, the disc stops automatically and the display shows the total number of tracks on the disc.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) CD PAUSE CONTROL 1 2 During CD playback, if you wish to pause the disc momentarily, press the PLAY/PAUSE (¨ ) button. Playback stops but the disc continues to spin and the dot in the Play/Pause indicator will blink. Press the PLAY/PAUSE (¨ ) button again to release pause and resume normal CD playback; the Play/Pause indicator will light.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO BEGIN PLAYBACK FROM A SPECIFIC TRACK 1 3 1 2 After you insert the disc into the CD player and the total number of tracks appear on the display, you may press either the SKIP/SEARCH ( ) ❶ or ( ) ❷ button to select a specific track for playback. When the desired track number appears in the display, press the PLAY/PAUSE (¨ ) button ❸ to begin playback from the track selected.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO PROGRAM THE MEMORY 1 2 Slide the Function switch to the CD position to turn the unit on and select the CD mode. Press the PROGRAM button; “01” will blink in the display. 3 4 2 1 Use the SKIP/Search o 1 or n 2 button to select the first track to be programmed. Press the PROGRAM button again; the selected track has now been programmed and counted as program 1. 5 6 2 1 Repeat steps 3 and 4 to program the other desired tracks in sequence.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) NOTES ON PROGRAMMED PLAY: • Programming is the ability to preselect the order in which a series of tracks will be played. • Each track may be stored in the program memory as many times as desired. • As each track is played, its track number will be displayed. You can move forward or backward through the programmed tracks with the SKIP/SEARCH o or n button. • The CD player will stop after all programmed tracks have been played or the STOP (■) button is pressed.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the compact disc carefully. Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the compact disc label. • Clean the compact disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the compact disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service. Symptom Possible Cause Solution Station not tuned properly for AM or FM. Retune the AM or FM broadcast station. FM: Telescopic antenna is not properly adjusted. Reorient FM telescopic antenna. AM: Unit is not positioned correctly. Rotate unit until best reception is obtained. Radio Noise or sound distorted on radio broadcasts. AM or FM, no sound. FUNCTION switch not set to Radio.
