IMPORTANT INFO
We advise drilling pilot holes into wood before screwing additional parts into the surface. The pilot hole
must be slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw to be used.
1/8” carbide drill bit is required for stucco, hardboard, ber cement, brick or masonry.
For shutters up to 55”, use four screws per shutter.
For shutters over 55”, use six screws per shutter.
Can be installed as xed mount, operational or functional.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure to use the correct tools recommended.
Wear safety goggles.
Follow xture, power tools, and paint manufacturers’ instructions and users manuals.
Use common sense and follow good construction practices.
General Installation:
1. Determine the position for the shutter by matching up the top and bottom of
the shutter with the window and mark its position.
2. Mark the shutter where you will fasten it to your installation surface. (If
installing larger shutters fasten on the right a left hand side in the center of
the shutter.)
3. Using a 1/8” bit drill pilot holes where you marked the shutter.
4. Using a level, set the shutter in place and fasten using the correct screws for
your installation surface. Be sure not to over-tighten the screws.
Finishing Tips:
1. For painting: sand, prime and paint with premium grade exterior 100% acrylic
paint.
2. For staining: wet the wood slightly with a clean, wide paint brush. This will
help ensure the stain spreads more evenly. Apply a consistent coat of stain
on all six sides of the wood shutters.
3. Seal with exterior-grade clear acrylic or polyurethane top coat.
Shutter Positioning:
1. Nearly all of the installation diagrams shown here require a 1/4” gap between
the shutter and the casement. To achieve a balanced appearance, your
shutters must be sized properly. Be sure you have ordered shutters that t
properly into (or in some cases, over) your window casement’s.
Large shutters (generally 6’ tall or more) may require more than two hinges.
Please note: These installation instructions are meant to illustrate only
basic guidelines. Specic measurements and mounting options vary from
application to application.
