I Introduction SP-2101 and SP-1101 are Wi-Fi smart plugs that are mostly managed by a powerful application tool from Edimax Technology. Once the smart plug is connected to the internet, the accompanying app can control and manage its functions such as turning it on / off, scheduling and budget control. II II-1 Smart Plug Setup Package Contents SP-1101W V2 Or SP-2101W V2 Quick Installation Guide CD with User Manual Front Panel The smart plug graphical example used throughout the guide is model SP-2101W. II-2 Hardware Installation Follow the instructions below to ensure your smart plug is properly connected and ready for setup. Please only set up one smart plug at a time. 1. Plug the smart plug into a power socket. 2. Press and hold the reset button (for ~10 seconds) on the plug until the network LED starts flashing quickly in red and let go.
3. Wait a few moments for the smart plug to start up. The smart plug is ready for setup when the network LED is flashing slowly in red to indicate installation mode. 4. When smart plug is in installation mode, please continue to III EdiSmart App Setup to set up your smart plug using the free EdiSmart app.
III EdiSmart App Setup To allow remote access to your smart plug, please use the EdiSmart app. After setup, you can use the EdiSmart app to switch your smart plug on/off remotely from any compatible mobile device with an Internet connection, as well as set up automated schedules and email notifications. Please go to the setup instructions suitable for your mobile device (iOS or Android OS).
III-1 Apple iOS III-1-1 1. EdiSmart Account Sign-Up Search and download “EdiSmart” in Apple App Store. 2. 3. Open the EdiSmart app. 4. Enter an email, password, and confirm the password in the blank fields shown. 5. Tap “Login” (outlined in red) to submit and login to your EdiSmart account. Select “Sign up” (outlined in red) to sign up for an EdiSmart account The app will direct you to a setup tutorial. Go through the tutorial or press the icon to quit the tutorial.
III-1-2 Connecting the Smart Plug For EdiSmart app to control the Smart Plug, it must be connected to a Wi-Fi network with internet connectivity. To do so, follow the steps below: If you have not reset your smart plug, please do that now! Press and hold the Reset Button (for ~10 seconds) until the network LED starts flashing quickly in red and let go. Please bring the smart plug within the Wi-Fi range of a Wi-Fi router that has internet connectivity. 1. On your iOS device, go to Settings. 2.
Firmware Upgrade After selecting the icon, EdiSmart app will identify the current firmware version of your smart plug and prompt you to upgrade it to the newest firmware version if available. Tap “OK” to upgrade your firmware. After firmware upgrade, please press and hold the Reset Button (for ~10 seconds) on the Smart Plug until the network LED starts flashing quickly in red and go back to Step 1 to continue setup. Enter a name where you will likely use the smart plug for. For example, office desktop light, bedside lamp, etc.
8. Congratulations! The smart plug is ready to be used. The smart plug’s network LED should be on in green color to indicate a successful network and cloud connection. You can now control your smart plug from the EdiSmart home screen. Tap the switch to switch your smart plug (and any electrical device you plug into it) on or off.

IV Resetting the Smart Plug If you experience problems with your smart plug, or you want to connect the smart plug to a different Edimax app account, you can reset the plug back to its factory default settings. This resets all settings back to the default settings. 1. Press and hold the reset button found on the front of the plug. 2. Release the button (after ~10 seconds) when the network LED is flashing quickly in red. 3. Wait for the smart plug to restart.
