Setting up your TV Objects between the remote control and the remote control sensor may block the remote control signal. The range of the remote control may be diminished if direct sunlight or other strong light is shining at the remote control sensor. In this case, change the angle of the lighting, move your TV, or operate the remote control closer to the remote control sensor. Connecting the power Notes: Make sure to insert the cord securely at both the LCD TV and the power outlet.
Setting up your TV Connecting a component video device Notes: When using HDMI/DVI to connect your HDMI or DVI devices, you must select the corresponding audio input source (HDMI or DVI) on the menu screen (see “To select the HDMI audio input source:” on page 22). Otherwise, you only see the image with no sound.
Using your TV Connecting a computer Note: When your TV does not receive a signal and you do not press any buttons for 15 minutes, your TV goes into Standby mode. The TV can operate as the computer monitor. To connect a computer: 1 Connect one end of a VGA cable to the VGA jack on the computer, then connect the other end of the cable to the VGA IN jack on the back of your TV.
Using your TV number, channel label (if preset), V-chip rating, signal type, sleep timer, picture size, audio information (stereo or SAP), and resolution. Press DISPLAY again to clear the display, or wait a few seconds and the TV returns to normal operation automatically. 8 Press RECALL to go back to the last channel you were watching, and press RECALL again to return to the original channel. 9 Press SLEEP on the remote control to set the TV to turn off after a specified interval.

Changing the TV settings Setting parental controls (V-chip) You can set an age limitation on your TV to restrict children from viewing or hearing violent scenes or pictures that you choose to exclude. The restriction applies to “TV Rating” and “Movie Rating,” if this data is transmitted. You may set this restriction separately. To use the V-chip feature, you must set and use a password. To set a password: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU. The initial on-screen menu opens.

Changing the TV settings 5 Press or to select Analog Caption or Digital Caption. • Analog Caption options include C1, C2, C3, C4, T1, T2, T3, and T4. • Digital Caption options include CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5, and CS6. 6 Press or to select the closed caption mode you want for both analog and digital captions. 7 Press or to select CC Priority, then press or to select Digital CC or Analog CC. Note: Depending on the broadcast signal, some analog captions can function with a digital broadcast signal.

Notes: Selectable picture sizes may vary, depending on the input source or broadcast signal.

Using the DVD player To set the auto shut off: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU. The initial on-screen menu opens. Disc organization Main Menu Title When two or more movies are recorded on a disc, the disc is divided into two or more sections. Each section is called a “Title.” Chapter The titles can be subdivided into many sections. Each section is called a “Chapter.” Track An audio CD can contain several items. These are assigned to the tracks.
Using the DVD player Playing DVDs To play a DVD: 1 Press TV/DVD to change to DVD mode (each time you turn the TV on, it starts in the TV mode). The DVD startup screen appears. 2 If you are using an amplifier, turn it on. 3 Place the disc in the disc slot with the label side facing forward. Hold the disc by the edges, without touching either of its surfaces. • Frame Advance—Press PAUSE/STILL during normal playback to pause the program. Each time you press PAUSE/STILL the program is advanced one frame.
Using the DVD player To replay marked scenes: 1 Press MARKER during playback or stop mode. The Marker dialog box opens. Playback starts from the marked scene. 3 To resume normal playback, press A-B again. “ on the screen. Off” appears Notes: Some discs may not work with the A-B Repeat feature. In A-B Repeat mode, subtitles near point A or B may not appear.
Using the DVD player Selecting the title Some DVDs are recorded with two or more titles. If a title menu is recorded on the disc, you can select the title you want. To select a title: 1 Press DVD TITLE during playback. The Title menu opens. 2 Press , , , or to select the title you want, then press ENTER or PLAY. The selected title starts playing. Note: Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to select a title.
Using the DVD player Setting the on-screen display The on-screen display can be turned on or off when you press any buttons. 2 Press or to select the Display icon or ENTER. The Screen menu opens. To set the on-screen display: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The DVD menu opens. TV Screen :16:9 Display : On Picture Mode TV Screen : 16:9 Display : On Picture Mode : Auto JPEG Interval : Off 2 Press or to select the Display icon or ENTER. The Screen menu opens.
Using the DVD player To set the digital sound output: 3 Press or to select the Parental, then press The Enter Password screen opens. 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The DVD menu opens. Parental Night Mode : Off Digital Out : PCM 2 Press or to select the Audio icon ENTER. The Audio menu opens. Night Mode Digital Out Password , then press or or : Off Off PCM Bitstream 3 Press or to highlight Digital Out, then press or ENTER.
Using the DVD player 4 Enter your password using the number buttons (0-9), then press ENTER. The Enter New Password screen opens. If you enter a wrong number, press EXIT and try again. Parental : Off Password : Change Enter New Password • Music files recorded by the “Hierarchical File System” (HFS) cannot be played. • This player can play back baseline and progressive JPEG files. • MP3 or WMA files on a KODAK Picture CD are not recognized by this player.
Using the DVD player When you press PLAY after displaying the file browser, playback begins automatically starting from the first file. If there is no file in the root directory, playback does not begin automatically. 3 Press ENTER. The selected file starts playing. 4 Press STOP to end playback. The unit memorizes the stopped point and appears on the screen. Press PLAY to resume playback. If you press STOP again or unload the disc, the unit clears the stopped point.
Appendix 5 To zoom in on an image, press ZOOM. 6 Press STOP to end playback. If you want to view another picture, repeat Steps 2 and 3. Appendix Language code list To display selected file types: 1 With the JPEG browser open, press or to highlight Select Files in the right column, then press ENTER. 2 Press or to select the file type from the list (Music or Picture). 3 Press ENTER to add or remove the check mark. The checked file type is displayed in the file browser.
Maintaining Your player requires discs and recordings to meet certain technical standards in order to achieve optimal playback quality. Pre-recorded DVDs are automatically set to these standards. There are many different types of recordable disc formats (including CD-R containing MP3 or WMA files), and these require certain pre-existing conditions (see above) to ensure compatible playback. You should note that permission is required in order to download MP3 or WMA files and music from the Internet.
