Setting Up Follow these steps to place your iPad in your Writer. 1. Open the Writer cover, and lay it flat on a level surface. Figure 1 2. Insert your iPad into the frame. Figure 2 3. Check that the iPad is properly aligned with the frame cutouts, and sits in the frame securely. 4. Raise the iPad to the angle at which you want to work. Figure 4 5.

Powering Up Follow these steps to turn on your Writer. 1. Lift the keyboard so you can see the underside. Figure 1 2. Locate the on/off switch, and slide it to the ‘on’ position. Figure 2 3. Put the keyboard down again so you can see the top. 4. Press and hold the pairing button on the top right of the keyboard, for four seconds (count to 4). Figure 4 5. The indicator LED should show a green blinking light; your Writer has enough power to function. 6.

Getting Connected Follow these steps to connect your Writer wirelessly to your iPad. 1. On your iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth. 2. Press and hold the pairing button on the top right of the keyboard, for several seconds (count to 10). The indicator LED should show a green blinking light; your Writer 2 is ready to pair with your iPad. Figure 2 3. The iPad will recognize the Writer, but will say ‘not paired’. 4.

Resetting Your Bluetooth Sometimes you may need to reset your Bluetooth settings and try pairing again. Use the following steps. 1. Lift the keyboard so you can see the underside. Figure 1 2. Locate the on/off switch, and slide it to the ‘off’ position. Figure 2 3. On your iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth. 4. Touch the small right arrow next to ‘Adonit Writer’, then touch ‘Forget this Device’, and finally touch OK’. 5.

Keyboard Removal & Re-attachment You can remove or re-attach the keyboard using these steps. 1. Open the Writer cover, and lay it flat on a level surface. 2. With one hand, hold down the Writer by firmly holding the iPad. 3. With the other hand, raise the keyboard so it is pointing up at a slight angle. Figure 3 4. Pull firmly on the keyboard; it will slide out of the center piece and become detached from the Writer frame. Figure 4 5. Press docking tab down flat to reingage with the magnetic plate. 6.
Function Keys Your Writer has a row of fourteen keys along the top row of the keyboard. You can use the following table to understand the special functions of these keys.

Recharging Your Writer has an internal rechargeable battery, which does not need to be removed. Follow these steps to recharge your Writer’s battery. 1. Locate the micro-USB port at the top right side of the Writer. Figure 1 2. Insert the smallest end of the micro-USB cable provided with the Writer, into the port. Figure 2 3. Insert the largest end of the micro-USB cable, into a USB compatible power source such as a USB port on a computer or laptop. Take care that the power source is USB compatible. 4.
Cleaning If you just want to remove specs and small dust particles, use clear tape or a lint-roller designed for clothing or furniture. To remove fingerprints, dirt, and smudges, clean the cover with a moist towelette or a damp soft rag; avoid getting any area too wet, or scrubbing too hard.
