CAUTION AND SAFETY WARNINGS:
• IMPORTANT: One end of Grab Bar MUST be mounted into a wood wall stud. For help locating wood wall studs, please visit our website at
www.libertyhardware.com.
DO NOT install this equipment without first reading and understanding this instruction sheet. If you are unable to understand these Warnings and Instructions,
contact a health care professional, dealer or technical personnel for assistance before attempting to install this equipment - otherwise, injury may occur.
DO NOT install Grab Bar Anchors into wallboard less than 1/2-inch or greater than 2-1/2-inches thick.
DO NOT install Grab Bar Anchors into wallboard that has been subjected to water damage or decay.
• Use the specified tools and equipment to ensure the recommended drill diameter is maintained. There must be a 1-7/8-inch minimum clearance behind
the wall to allow for anchor support channel rotation.
DO NOT install Grab Bar Anchor into a wood wall stud.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• 3/8-inch Power Drill
• 7/64-inch Drill Bit (to drill pilot hole for installation of wood screws into wood wall stud)
• 1/2-inch Drill Bit (to drill anchor hole into wallboard)
• 1/4-inch Carbide Tip Drill Bit (if drilling through ceramic tile into a wood wall stud)
• 1/2-inch Carbide Tip Drill Bit (if drilling through ceramic tile into wallboard)
• #2 Phillips Screwdriver

BEFORE INSTALLING GRAB BAR:
1. Remove Grab Bar and parts from the package. If concealed mount grab bar is used, move cover plates away from mounting holes (see Figure 1).
2. Determine where you want to install Grab Bar.
3. Place Grab Bar on wall at desired position. If mouting horizontally, check that Grab Bar is level.
4. With a pencil, mark the centers of the mounting hole positions on one end. These are the points where you will later drill pilot holes for putting
in the screws.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the other end of Grab Bar.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
6. Put on safety glasses before starting.
7. Use the 3/8-inch power drill and 1/2-inch drill bit to drill all holes into wallboard at the marked positions. NOTE: If installing Grab Bar over ceramic tiles,
the 1/4-inch carbide tip drill bit will be needed for drilling through the tile, in order to prevent damage to the tiles. Drill pilot holes through the tiles by
using a 1/4-inch carbide tip drill bit. Once a hole has been drilled through the ceramic tiles, use the 1/2-inch drill bit to drill anchor hole into the wallboard.

thereof and of US Patent number 4,650,386.
Other patents pending.
8. Drill 1/2-inch hole into wallboard on non-stud side only (see Figure 2A). Hold metal channel flat along plastic
straps and slide channel through hole (see Figure 3).
9. Hold ends of straps together between thumb and forefinger and pull toward you until channel rests behind wall.
Ratchet plastic cap along straps with other hand until flange of cap is flush with wall (see Figure 4A), making sure
the flange is rotated as shown in Figure 4B.
10. Place thumb between straps at wall. Push thumb side to side, snapping off straps level with flange (see Figure 5).
11. Apply a bead of silicone sealant designed for wet applications to the back face of both grab bar mounting flanges.
This will prevent water from bleeding through the mounting holes and potentially damaging the wallboard
(see Figure 6).
12. Place Grab Bar on wall, aligning mounting holes with the holes in the wall.
13. Use the three #10-24 x 3-inch machine screws to attach the grab bar to the wall anchors. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
14. Using the wood screws provided with the grab bar, align and install the opposite end (Figure 2B) of the grab bar
into the wood wall stud.
15. Securely tighten all mounting fasteners and wipe away any excess sealant from the grab bar flanges.
16. If concealed mount Grab Bar is used, move cover plates over mounting holes and firmly press against the wall
(see Figure 1).

THE FOLLOWING STEPS REQUIRE DRILLING INTO THE WALL. When drilling into the wall, exercise
care to avoid any electrical wiring or plumbing that may be located behind the wall. Damaged electrical wiring
can cause electrical shock and/or fire. Since older homes do not always fall in line with current housing codes
and requirements, know where internal wall wiring is located so that no wires will interfere with your installation.
PROPER INSTALLATION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. IF IN DOUBT, INSTALLATION SHOULD BE DONE
BY A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL.
