Setting Up Your Audio Device Step 1: Turning on Sound BlasterX G5 Connect your Sound BlasterX G5 directly to a USB port on your computer or PS4. Setting the Sound BlasterX G5 as the default audio device For Windows 1. Go to Control Panel and click Sound. 2. Click the Playback tab, select Sound BlasterX G5, then click the Set Default button. 3. Click the Recording tab, select the required Sound BlasterX G5 recording device, then click the Set Default button. For Mac 1. Go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. 2. Connecting to microphones For Windows 1. Go to Control Panel and click Sound. 2. Click the Recording tab, select Sound BlasterX G5 (External Mic), then click the Set Default button. For Mac 1. Installing and Uninstalling Software (For Windows Only) To take full advantage of your Sound BlasterX G5 audio device, you need to install device drivers and applications. At times, you may also need to uninstall some or all of the device drivers and applications to correct problems, change configurations, or upgrade outdated drivers or applications. Installing Drivers and Applications Ensure that your audio device is connected before proceeding.
Using Your Audio Device Step 1: Adjusting the volume WARNING: l l Set the volume control at minimum level before connecting headphones or speakers. Do not listen to audio at high volumes for prolonged periods of time to avoid impairing your hearing. Adjust the volume to a comfortable level using the volume control.

Recording audio to a computer Easily record audio on your computer with an external microphone connected to the Sound BlasterX G5. Use a voice recording application on your computer to record audio. Note: You can only use one external microphone at a time.
Recording line-level audio to a computer You can record audio from a line-in source (game console, DVD player, TV set) and store them in your computer via the Sound BlasterX G5. Note: Signal levels can be adjusted using the BlasterX Acoustic Engine Pro. See Using the Creative Software Suite – Mixer Settings. Recording "What U Hear" (For Windows OS) The Sound BlasterX G5 is equipped with What U Hear feature that allows you to record what is being played on the speakers/headphones as it is.
Answering calls Desktop communication Use the Sound BlasterX G5 to enjoy outstanding acoustic performance in popular VoIP applications like Ventrilo®and TeamSpeak®. Profile Preset Audio Profiles Select from preset profiles to enhance essential audio details in your game, movie or music. l l l l l l Adventure and Action enhances clarity of audio details for a cinematic experience and a gaming edge, allowing you to hear your enemies to evade capture or set-up an ambush. Driving Simulation magnifies details such as tire noises as the car races along — enabling you to hear subtle differences and cues you in on how your car is behaving on the road while racing.
Store Audio Profiles You can store up to 3 audio profiles on your Sound BlasterX G5 for quick activation. Select Profile 1/2/3, and then click on the preferred audio profile to store it on your Sound BlasterX G5.
Acoustic Engine Settings Enhancing Your Listening Experience You can adjust the amount to apply for each enhancement by dragging its slider counterclockwise to decrease or clockwise to increase. To test the effects of the audio enhancements, click l l l l l . Surround provides immersion control of sounds not just around you, but also above and below for a full 3D audio experience. Hear the natural sense of audio depth, spaciousness and stunning 3D surround effects from your audio content.
Equalizer Settings Customizing Your EQ Settings 1. Click list. to enable this feature, then click the EQ drop-down arrow and select a preset from the 2. Voice FX Settings Voice FX enables the speaker's voice to be altered with a variety of effects, which can be used to enhance the tone of the speaker's voice, create interesting accents or to sound like a completely different person. Speakers/Headphones Settings 1. Speakers / Headphones Configuration Shows your current physical speakers or headphones configuration. 2. Testing your audio playback Click to hear a sample audio clip being played back through your setup. Note: Direct Mode is an option for direct playback to stereo speaker channel sampled at 192kHz. Problems with Simultaneous Playback/Recording An error message appears when recording and playing back simultaneously. This may occur due to data transfer limitations if your computer is using a USB 1.1 connection. It may not be possible to play back, or simultaneously record and play back, content at the highest bit rate and/or frequency supported. Select lower bit depth and sampling rates for reduced CPU consumption and lower USB bandwidth requirements.
