TheMonitorisanIR(infrared)signalingunitusedwithIR‐enabledtagsto

proprietaryIRprotocolachievesamarkedimprovementoverconventionalIR

protocolsthatweredesignedforremotecontrolapplications.Itprovides

superiorresiliencetofluorescentandothercommonindoorinterference

sources.Coveragezonesarelimitedbysolidphysicalstructuressuchaswalls;

however,contrarytopopularbelief,IRdoesnotneedlineofsightforeffective

communication.IRsignalsbounceeffectivelyfromstructuresandwallsflood

theentireroomincludinglocationsthatarenotindirectlineofsighttothe

Monitor.

forthequickandlowcostinstallationofthemonitor.

SecondGenerationInfrared(Gen2IR)Monitorscanbepositionedwherever

accuratelocationdataisneededincludingrooms,hallways,andevenbays.

Similartolight,Gen2IRwillnotpassthroughwalls,anditdoesnotsufferfrom

traditionalinfraredandultrasoundline‐of‐sightlimitations.Therefore,whena

tagreadsaroomnumber,therearenoerrors.Thisiscertainty‐basedRTLS, a

requirementfortoday’shealthcareautomationandworkflowapplications.
