We strive to bring you the highest quality products, allowing you to capture every memory. We know you’ll love using your Cansonic UltraDuo! The following instructions are written for optimized use of your Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 camera. Each of the default settings have been designed to achieve the highest quality video while maintaining peace of mind when the camera is on.
ADDITIONAL TIPS Full optimization of memory card: 1. Before removal of the memory card from the UltraDuo Z1, be sure to 1. turn off the camera. PRECAUTIONS Please read the following instructions carefully. Proper Use of the Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 is necessary in order to avoid operational problems that may occur. WARNING: DO NOT expose UltraDuo Z1 to moisture under any circumstance. The camera is NOT WATERPROOF and will become defective and may put the user at risk of electric shock or fire exposure. DO NOT use UltraDuo Z1 for any illegal purpose or to infringe on another individual’s rights.

• ATTACH THE MOUNT TO THE WINDSHIELD & START RECORDING Remove the protective plastic film and select a location on the windshield to put the suction cup in place. Release the locking lever from the mount by pulling down on it. Hold the suction cup in place with the mount and press against the window. While holding it in place, put the release lever back to lock the mount. TIP: - When selecting a location for the suction cup, make sure it’s on smooth - glass free of paint.
TIP: - Remember to plug the car power cord to the camera in the power socket - located on the top left corner. - DO NOT wire the UltraDuo Z1 directly to the car cigarette outlet or any 12 V - outlet. Doing so will result in permanent damage to the camera. - The Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 has a hardwire kit available from the Cansonic - official website that will directly connect to your vehicle’s fuse box. This will - allow you to have your cigarette outlet available for other use.
VIDEO MODE The following information will help you better understand the icons in VIDEO MODE and their relative functions. Some icons show up only when corresponding functions are activated. 1 2 3 5 4 6 7 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 1. Mode: Indicates the UltraDuo Z1 is in video mode. 2. Camera Select: This will indicate which camera is recording: left, right or 2. both. 3. GPS: If this icon remains stable on the screen, it indicates UltraDuo Z1 is 3. locating GPS signal.
8. Time: Displays current time. 9. Date: Displays current date. 10. Exposure: Indicates the current exposure level settings. 11. Battery: Indicates if the camera is charging or not. If it is not charging, the current battery power level is displayed. 12. Image Stabilizer: The built-in image stabilizer will help capture the video with great quality. 13. Microphone: When the audio recording function is off, there will be a red line across the icon. 14. White Balance: Indicates current white balance setting.
VIDEO MENU Access the VIDEO MENU by pressing the MENU button while in VIDEO MODE. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select setting options and press the OK button to enter the sub-menu. Once you access the sub-menu, highlight the desired setting and press the OK button to confirm your selection and to return to the VIDEO MENU. Press the MENU button to return to video mode. TIP: - You are not able to access the UltraDuo Z1 menu while the camera is - recording. • Resolution: Choose which camera to record.
VIDEO MENU (CONT.) • White Balance: Select the white balance setting for different weather • conditions. • OPTIONS: Auto (default)/Daylight/Cloudy/Tungsten/Fluor H/Fluor L/ Custom NOTE: When you are in the SETUP -> System MENU, you will be able to restore all the settings to UltraDuo Z1’s default settings.
PHOTO MODE While in VIDEO MODE, press down on the MODE button to enter PHOTO MODE. In PHOTO MODE, you are able to take stationary photos. The following instructions will explain the icons in PHOTO MODE. Some icons show up only when corresponding functions are activated. 1 2 3 4 10 9 8 7 6 5 1. PHOTO MENU Access the PHOTO MENU by pressing the MENU button while in PHOTO MODE. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select setting options and press the OK button to enter the sub-menu. Press down on the MENU button to return to PHOTO MODE. • Resolution: Adjust the resolution of the photo. • OPTIONS: 8M/4M/2M (default) • White Balance: Select the white balance setting for different weather • conditions. • OPTIONS: Auto (default)/Daylight/Cloudy • Exposure: Adjust exposure levels settings.
PLAYBACK MODE Use MODE button to access PLAYBACK MODE. In PLAYBACK MODE, you are able to review the videos and photos you have stored. DIRECTORIES Press the UP or DOWN buttons to navigate through the menu. • Protected: The directory for all protected videos. • Video: The directory for all unprotected videos. • Note: If the video file is protected under playback mode, the file will • remain in video directory. • Photo: The directory for all photos.

MENU: STOP playing video and go back to Video/Protected directory. DOWN: REWIND.
PLAYBACK MODE (CONT.) PHOTO FILES OK: Display photo info. DOWN: Previous photo. UP: Next photo. MENU: Delete or protect the photo FILE PROTECT: Protect the photo SCREEN SELECT: Go back to Playback mode. MODE: Go to Setup mode. See following pages for details.
PLAYBACK MODE (CONT.) DELETING FILES Highlight the DELETE FILES option and press the OK button. You will have the following options: Once selected, follow the on screen instructions to delete the current file. Once selected, follow the on screen instructions to delete ALL files. TIP: PROTECTED FILES CANNOT BE DELETED.
PLAYBACK MODE (CONT.) PROTECTING/UNPROTECTING FILES Highlight the PROTECT/UNPROTECT option and press the OK button. You will have the following options: Select Single, follow the on-screen instructions to protect the current file. To Protect All, select the option then follow the on-screen instructions to Protect ALL files in the current folder. 25 Select Unprotect All, follow the on- screen instructions to Unprotect ALL files in the current folder.
SETUP MODE Access the SETUP MODE by pressing the MODE button. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select setting options and press the OK button to enter the sub-menu. Once you access the sub-menu, highlight the desired setting and press the OK button to confirm your selection and to return to the SETUP MODE. Press the MENU button to return to the current mode. Note: Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 default settings have been selected for great image quality and ease of operation.
• G Sensor: G sensor is the sensor that can detect forces. When it senses any • forces, it will protect the current file automatically. Adjust the sensitivity of G • sensor here. • OPTIONS: High/Medium (default)/Low/Off • Frequency: Set up the AV output frequency. • OPTIONS: 50 HZ/60 HZ (default) • GPS: Turn the GPS function ON or OFF. (GPS logger is sold separately.
• Parking Detection: If the parking mode sensor is turned on, Z1 will enter • sleep mode when the vehicle is turned off or when Z1 loses its power supply. • In the sleep mode, if Z1 detects any external forces, it will automatically turn • on and take a 30 second video and turn off afterward. The videos taken in • this situation will all be protected. You can adjust the sensitivity for the parking • mode force sensor here.
USB CABLE (Windows & Mac) When you use the provided USB cable to connect UltraDuo Z1 to your computer, the LCD screen will show three available options. USB Storage PC Camera DashCam Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the necessary function, and press the OK button to continue. USB STORAGE When you have connected the Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 to the computer, the camera will operate as a card reader. Your computer will have a pop up of a new drive for you to browse all the video and picture files.
VIDEO & AUDIO OUTPUT (OPTIONAL) (sold separately, please see Cansonic website for more detail). The UltraDuo Z1 can be connected to most external video equipment that utilizes standard RCA Inputs. You will need to purchase the AV Cable in order to continue this process. Visit cansonic.com to purchase the correct AV Cable. Connect the AV Cable to your UltraDuo Z1 and the external device. Once you have done so, turn on the UltraDuo Z1 and the external device.
TROUBLE SHOOTING Blurred Image (Video) Cansonic UltraDuo Z1 comes with a protective lens cover. Be sure to remove it. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth until any debris/stains are removed. Clean your vehicle’s windshield where the camera is placed. Unable to insert Micro SD Memory Card Make sure the metal portion of the memory card faces the screen side. Once inserted, push the card until a CLICK sound is heard.
UltraDuo Z1 shuts down on its own Auto power off function will turn off Z1 automatically after it loses its power supply. Make sure Z1 is connected properly to the car power cable. When the battery power level is low, Z1 will turn off automatically. UltraDuo Z1 does not charge in my car If your car power cable is not working properly with your UltraDuo Z1, check your car’s power fuses. Also check your power cord and replace it if there is an issue.
A buzz is created when my UltraDuo Z1 is connected to my TV Be sure that your UltraDuo Z1’s AV cable is connected correctly. The audio jack (2.5mm) can be purchased on the Cansonic website. UltraDuo Z1 always turn on by itself. The parking mode function will automatically start recording a 30 second video clip and turn off when external forces are detected. If you want to turn off this function, go to SETUP menu -> Parking Mode Sensor, and turn it off.
