Chapter 6 Admin Viewer/VB Viewer ❏ Differences between the Admin Viewer and the VB Viewer ❏ User Authorities and Camera Control Privileges ❏ Viewer Startup and Operation ❏ Camera Control and Obtaining Camera Control Privileges ❏ Admin Viewer Operation and Settings
Overview of Viewer The camera comes loaded with a viewer. Accessing this viewer via a web browser allows you to display images and operate the camera via pan, tilt and zoom controls, etc. Two types of viewer are available, the Admin Viewer and the VB Viewer. VB-M40 Viewer Admin Viewer Important Use the RM-Lite Viewer to display H.264 video from the camera. Only JPEG images can be displayed using the VB-M40 viewer. VB Viewer: Users with camera control authority can use this viewer.
Overview of Viewer Audio distribution authority is required to receive audio using the Admin Viewer and the VB Viewer. [Administrator] This user is given all authorities. The user name is fixed to “root”. The Administrator can launch the Admin Viewer from the [Admin Viewer] link on the top page. [Guest User] This user can only perform pan, tilt and zoom controls with the camera, backlight compensation, snapshots, image display and audio distribution.
Launching the Viewer Launching the Viewer The viewer is launched. Viewer operations can be performed via a web browser. First, access the top page of the camera. Important • The Canon Inc. Certificate must be registered on a PC that is using the Admin Viewer. Refer to “Certificate Registration” in “Chapter 3 Top Page of the Camera” (P. 3-4) to register the certificate included in the Setup CD-ROM. • This Operation Guide explains relevant operations based on the IP address “192.168.100.

[Average] The entire screen is metered by averaging. A stable exposure can be achieved even in a capture environment where there are notable brightness differences within the screen. Use this mode to stabilize the exposure in locations where vehicles or people are moving. [Spot] The center of the screen is metered. An appropriate exposure can be achieved for the subject at the center of the screen regardless of the brightness/darkness on the periphery of the screen.
Performing Operations and Settings as the Administrator Important • Since the light source selection options are based on representative characteristics, proper colors may not be achieved depending on the applicable light source. In this case, use the [One-shot WB] function. Operating the External Device Output You can operate the external device output and display the current output status using an icon. The [ON]/[OFF] status can be switched by clicking this icon.
2 [Intelligent Function (Image Detection)] The status of intelligent function (image detection) will be displayed. When the detection settings configured in intelligent functions (Moving Object Detection, Abandoned Object Detection, Removed Object Detection or Camera Tampering Detection) enter Detected mode, the corresponding icon will turn green (P. 5-27). If names are entered in [Detection Setting Name] in Intelligent Function Setting Tools (P.

SD Memory Card Access You can set the camera so that the following data is saved automatically to the camera's SD memory card. (“Chapter 4 Settings Page”, “[Memory Card] SD Memory Card Operations and Settings” (P. 4-30). • JPEG images stored when HTTP or FTP upload failed during network errors • Log Here is an explanation of how to access the data saved on the SD memory card. Access to the SD Memory Card Use FTP software (not bundled) to access the camera's IP address.
SD Memory Card Access JPEG Images Stored when Upload Fails JPEG images that have failed to upload are saved under the file names “000.JPG” to “999.JPG” in subdirectories “00” to “99,” which are created under “camera IP address/mnt/card/CANON/UPLOAD.” When either the storage capacity of the SD memory card or the number of files that can be saved in all subdirectories is reached, you cannot save to the SD memory card. In this case, use FTP software to download to a PC. Delete JPEG images no longer needed.
Modifiers According to the setting item, you can specify parameters using modifier “% characters.
Modifiers Available Modifiers The modifiers that can be used for each setting item are specified below. [HTTP Upload] (P. 4-15) [Parameter (query string)] All modifiers can be used. [FTP Upload] (P. 4-16) [Subdirectory Name to Create] Only the modifiers %y,%m,%d,%w,%H,%h,%n can be used. [File Name to Create] Only the modifiers %y,%m,%d,%w,%H,%M,%S,%s,%n can be used. [E-mail Notification] (P. 4-17) 7 [Message Body] All modifiers can be used.
