Handling Precautions 1. This camera is not resistant to water, and should not be used outdoors if it is raining or snowing. In this case, wait for a while before turning on the power again.
Opening the Lens Cover (Turning the Main Switch On) When the lens cover is opened, the main switch is turned on and the lens and flash are automatically set for shooting. • The lens first zooms to the full wide (28mm) position. • Slide the lens cover open until it clicks. • If the lens and flash are not set for shooting, check to see if there is a battery loaded .

This also prevents the shutter being accidentally released. Protection seal To prevent scratching of the lens surface, a blue protection seal q is affixed to it. Remove it before using the camera. Zoom Operation You can freely change the size of the image in the viewfinder by using the wide-angle /telephoto zoom lever. • If the lens is extended for approx. 4 minutes without use, the lens automatically retracts into the camera and is set to the wide-angle (28mm) end. AiAF (Smart AF) Function AI = Artificial Intelligence, AF = Autofocus The AiAF (Smart AF) function has a wide measuring area and is the latest mechanism for accurately adjusting the focus. This mechanism was developed based on the analysis of several thousand photographs and Canon’s unique know-how. When “0” appears in the frame counter and the film indicator blinks, the film has finished rewinding. Slide the back cover latch in the direction of the arrow and remove the film. The flash fires with a slow shutter speed. The camera focuses on 1 point in the center of the frame. Continuous shooting for as long as the shutter button is pressed (max. 1 frame/sec.).
