CDU‐685 Modem Installation CDU-685 Modem software can be installed on computers with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista operating systems. In this manual we describe installation procedure for Windows XP operating system. Setup Make sure you are logged on as administrator. (If you have previous versions of CDU-685 software installed on your computer, uninstall them using Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs. During uninstall keep the modem unplugged from your computer.
Setup process may last several minutes. Follow instructions on computer screen. After installation is complete, please wait till all drivers are installed. During entire installation process do not unplug the modem from USB port of your computer.
Install Shield Wizard... click 'next' Choose the installation directory and click "Next" to continue.
Click "Next" to continue.
Click "Install" to continue. C-motech CDU-685 Modem is configuring your new software installation and copying files.
Installation Complete. Click “Finish”.
Please wait until all drivers are installed. This may take a few minutes.
Franklin Connection Manager User Guide CDU685 USB Modem
Using the Franklin Modem Application Software During this installation a Shortcut will have been placed on your desktop for the Franklin Data Modem Application software. On start of the Application Software, the first screen you will see is the Main window.
Connection Click the ‘Connect’ button. The Application Software will start dialing when the button is clicked. Verifying User. You can see above window’s black arrow with red color icon. This arrow icon is shown on connection. Warning: If you install Windows XP service pack 2, you must turn off firewall in Window security center. If you try connecting with turn on firewall, you can see connecting fail.
To Disconnect Clicking the disconnect button on the Main window or Dial up slide window, will disconnect the dialup connection and the modem will switch to idle mode.
Option Connection History: The User Data Counter will continuously accumulate on each session and will only clear when “Clear” is clicked. Device Info Diagnostics: You can use this window to get information about your 1xEV-DO devices.

Service Mode ‐ Packet Always On is a CDMA 1x internet domain that applies to data (in Kilobytes) based charging packages. This service allows you to remain connected to the internet all the time. Charges will apply to the amount of data sent and received with this domain.
Zero CD 1. Click Menu on the Fraklin Connection Manager Interface. 2. Select settings from the submenu. 3. Select Zero CD from the submenu. Settings ‐ Zero CD 1. Factory default setting: Zero CD Only and Zero CD Enable. 2. Users for Window 2000 and Window XP limited user should set it to “Modem Only”.
