Displaysthewirelesssignalstrengthindecibels(dBm).Thedecibel
scaleisnegative,sosmallerabsolutevaluescorrespondtostronger
signals(i.e.-20dBmisstrongerthan-80dBm).Thesignaltonoise
ratio(SNR)isthedifferencebetweenthesignalandthenoise(e.g.
ifthenoiseis-80dBmandthesignalis-20dBm,theSNRis60
dB);thelargertheSNR,thebetter.Ingeneral,connectionsshould
haveanSNRgreaterthan20dBm,ortheusermayexperiencepoor
reliabilityand/orperformance.Ifthesignalislessthan-50dBm,the
usershouldconsiderrepositioningtheirworkstationorAccessPoint,
rotatingtheAccessPoint’santennas,orLimiting฀their฀Transmission฀Rate฀
(described฀on฀page฀_฀of฀the฀troubleshooting฀section฀of฀the฀manual),฀to฀ensure฀
a฀reliable฀wireless฀connection.
(j) Noise
Displaystheintensityoftheexternalnoise,onthiswirelesschannel,
indecibels(dBm).Ifthenoiseisgreaterthan-70dBm,theuser
shouldconsiderchangingthewirelesschannelused,intheirAccess
Point,toensureareliablewirelessconnection.
