PRODUCT INFORMATION
BEHR® Multi-Surface Roof Paint is a premium quality, durable, 100% acrylic latex at nish. This coating is mildew and algae
resistant and will not discolor or yellow when exposed to typical high roof temperatures. It has excellent adhesion to various
types of roong materials and is tintable to match a variety of custom colors.
RECOMMENDED USES:
This product is ideal for use on properly prepared and primed above grade vertical surfaces such as:

• Masonry Shingle • Urethane Foam • Asphalt Shingle • Shake Roofs • Slate Roofs

Dry times are temperature, humidity, and lm thickness
dependent.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Replace brittle or cracked shingles. Clean all roof surfaces.
Previously coated surfaces should be wire-brushed or
scraped to remove all loose coating.
Remove mildew with a mildew stain removing product.
Solvent clean new galvanized metal in accordance with
SSPC-SP1 to remove oil and grease from the surface.
Pre-treat with a phosphoric acid solution or a
commercially-available etching solution. Galvanized metal
that has been passivated with chromates or silicates may
require brush blasting in accordance with SSPC-SP16 to
remove these treatments. Rusty galvanizing requires a
minimum of Hand Tool Cleaning in accordance with
SSPC-SP2. Prime the area the same day as cleaned.
If applying on wood shakes, clean with a product such as
BEHR PREMIUM All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63. Follow
directions on product labels.
Rinse thoroughly and allow a minimum of 24 hours to dry.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD
ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator
to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, nd out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National
Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.

Previously Painted Surfaces:
Use a full coat or spot prime with BEHR Multi-Surface
Interior/Exterior Stain-Blocking Primer & Sealer No. 436 on
properly prepared surfaces.
NOTE: Certain substrate and exposure conditions, as well
as project requirements, may necessitate the use of other
substrate-specic or solution-driven primers. Please consult
with a BEHR PRO® Rep for specic primer recommendations.
CLEANUP/DISPOSAL:
Clean all tools and equipment with warm, soapy water. Do
not dispose of this product down a drain. If spilled, contain
material and remove with an inert absorbent. Dispose of
contaminated absorbent, container and unused product
in accordance with all current federal, state and local
regulations. For recycling or disposal of empty containers,
unused product and soiled rags, contact your household
refuse collection service.
